Super Magician: The Magic Network Collapsed Again at the Start
Chapter 107 Who is Hunting Whom?
Chapter 107 Who is Hunting Whom?
Anser glanced at the furtive blue-robed figures around him and decisively returned to the city.
He coveted the green dragon, but he was even more afraid of dying. He had a bright future ahead of him, so why should he participate in a battle where he might become cannon fodder?
Back at the small manor, Tim and the others had already packed up. There were two carriages and a dozen horses, while the other hundred or so guards had to walk.
Finn was also given a horse, but the giant tail and its weapons were too heavy, so he could only run.
Upon seeing Anser, Sandree's face lit up with joy: "Is the green dragon dead?"
“No.” Anser waved his hand. “Let’s go, we can’t delay.”
Whether you win or lose, you have to leave. If you lose, there's nothing to say, but if you win, you'll still face the Green Dragon Queen's revenge.
"Let's go, keep formation..." Sandre immediately ordered everyone to evacuate.
Tim rode up to Anser and whispered, "Where is the Great Reader of Candlekeep?"
"I didn't see it. The Vanguard Guard has also withdrawn." Anser pursed his lips.
The Great Readers are scholars who have no vested interests with the Claw City-State, so it's normal for them not to appear. However, the Vanguard Guard is the core fighting force, and their withdrawal is faster than anyone else's, which is a blow to morale.
"I knew Selig was unreliable, and that Baron too, slaying dragons, huh? The dragon's right here, but where are they?" Tim gritted his teeth and said angrily.
Cliff City is gone, and the Claw City-State is finished. All his life's efforts have come to nothing.
Anser remained silent. He understood Baron's situation; an 11th-level warrior wouldn't be of much use, and preserving himself was perfectly reasonable.
Tim was well aware of this, but reason is reason and emotion is emotion. The fact that he didn't resort to swearing already showed that he was very well-mannered.
The group walked briskly along the main street. Although they were fleeing, the nearly two hundred people moved in an orderly manner and there was no chaos.
The chaos in the city was comparable to that of Baldur's Gate, except that the three Grand Dukes of Baldur's Gate chose to fight head-on, while the lords of the Claw City led the way in fleeing.
Once outside the city, the crowds finally thinned out, and the wilderness was dotted with lights, mostly in the southeast, the direction where Belgost was.
Anser and his group also changed direction; this was the only way out.
The area around Baldur's Gate in the north is full of subterranean creatures, and to the east is the Razortooth Forest. The only way to get there is Belgost, which is a transportation hub and makes it easy to go anywhere.
Shortly after leaving the city, a dense barking of dogs broke the silence of the night, mixed with shouts, screams, and sounds of fighting.
Tim drew his longsword and came to the rear of the group, urging, "Hurry up and prepare for battle."
Finn's eyes were vacant: "Greyhawk said the kobolds are hunting humans, and there are many of them."
“Hmm.” Anser wasn’t surprised.
Kobolds are inherently base and evil, and they eat almost anything, so it's impossible for them to remain indifferent to seeing so many humanoid creatures.
Kobolds don't actually like eating intelligent beings, but they've crossed the Emerald Plains to fight for the Green Dragon Queen without any supplies, so they're probably starving and will eat whatever they can get their hands on.
However, the kobolds were scattered by the green dragons and their numbers were not as large as those of humans. They could only hunt lone or small groups of humans, so they were not a great threat.
Hearing the chaotic barking, Anser had a sudden thought: he was short-handed, and weren't kobolds perfect slaves?
Kobolds have an intelligence of around 8 points, can speak Abel Common and Dragon Language, are afraid of death, have strong comprehension abilities, and are capable of many jobs, such as mining, burying corpses, cultivating land, and cutting down trees.
If they don't obey, just kill them; there are plenty of these things anyway.
He became more and more excited as he thought about it, and quickly found Tim to say goodbye: "Let's part ways here, I have something to take care of."
"You don't want to go back, do you?" Tim asked in surprise. He thought Anser couldn't resist the temptation of slaying the dragon and wanted to return to Bluewater City to check on the battle.
"Of course not, be careful." Anser didn't elaborate, waved, and led Finn and Giant Tail away from the group.
Tim opened his mouth, but couldn't think of a reason to ask them to stay. He could only sigh silently and watch them leave.
He knew his daughter liked this young man, and she had been somewhat distracted these past few days.
If Yacheng were still there, he would have dared to bring it up shamelessly, but now their situation is precarious, and a marriage alliance would be like using his daughter as a bargaining chip to seek protection, which is something he simply cannot bring himself to do.
-
As night fell, Anser and his friends gathered together.
He notified Blatt to prepare through the Paradise Mark, and after Blatt put on his armor, he teleported him out with a wave of his hand.
Looking around, Blatt asked in surprise, "Has something happened again?"
“Yes, the green dragon has arrived…” Anser briefly recounted the process.
"You want to capture a kobold?" Blatt's eyes widened, his tone rising. "Is it easy to tame?" "Let's give it a try."
"What are you waiting for!"
The four of them began searching for the kobolds with great interest. Soon, Greyhawk brought good news: there was a group of kobolds ahead, about twenty or thirty of them.
“Finn and I will surround them on horseback, while you two will intercept them from behind, focusing on intimidation,” Anser instructed.
"No problem." The giant tail grinned, tapped its shield, and made a muffled sound.
Nornos was fast, entering the kobolds' field of vision before Finn could.
The dog-headed crowd, mistaking Nornos for an ordinary horse, did not run away but instead surrounded him and shouted threats.
Anser threw off his cloak, and his head transformed into a ferocious dragon's head. A powerful dragon's voice burst from his throat: "Reptile, kneel down and submit, and I will spare your life!"
The kobolds shuddered in fright, dropping their weapons. At least half of them knelt on the ground, while the rest looked at each other in disbelief and turned to run away.
Anser raised his hand and fired a freezing ray. A flash of white light, and the fastest kobold fell to the ground, his body covered in a thin layer of ice, exuding a chilling aura, like an ice sculpture.
"Shhhh-"
Finn went around to the front, and arrows rained down, forcing some of the kobolds back.
From behind, the giant tail charged forward, sweeping its massive club and sending a kobold flying several meters before it landed with a thud, looking like a lump of rotten flesh, no longer recognizable as a human.
"Reptiles, kneel and submit!" he roared, mimicking Anser's tone.
"I submit, I submit..." (Dragon's language)
The remaining kobolds, speaking broken dragon language, squatted down with their heads in their hands, their movements swift and practiced.
When Blatt arrived with his shield, he found that everything was already over, and he felt both excited and helpless.
Nornos snorted and kicked one of the kobolds to the ground.
Anser slapped it on the forehead. These were no longer enemies. He shouted, "Move closer to the center!" (Dragon language)
The others surrounded them from all sides, applying pressure.
Seeing the kobold hesitate, Anser waved his hand and fired another freezing ray, turning one of the kobolds into an ice sculpture.

The other kobolds tensed up and immediately became nimble, crawling on all fours to gather together.
Anser said calmly, "I need a group of laborers, with food and lodging provided, and no need to fight."
Upon hearing this, the kobolds exchanged glances discreetly but dared not utter a word.
Anser paused for a moment, then continued, "I will use magic to take you to my kingdom. Those who are willing should not resist, and those who are unwilling... I will not force them."
He raised his scepter of protection, and more than twenty magical marks shot out from the milky-white gem, landing on the kobolds.
Most of the kobolds did not resist, and then in a flash of light, most of the kobolds were gone, having been teleported to the devastated Holrewyn.
"The rest are yours." Anser patted Nornos lightly and dismounted.
Nornos bared his teeth and charged at the remaining kobolds, kicking and lashing them with his tail, killing them all without regard for their cries and pleas for mercy.
Anser remained calm. He didn't have time to discern whether these kobolds were bold, slow-witted, or simply too stupid. In any case, they were unqualified and could only be used as waste.
He pulled up Nornos's character card; his experience had finally climbed over 900, enough to level up, but now was definitely not a good time to advance.
He then used the mental projection of the scepter to check the situation in the space. The kobolds were cowering in the square, not running around, which suited him just fine.
"This is too easy." Blatt smiled, looking at Anser's dragon head, knowing that this was the key to success.
Kobolds are more likely to accept enslavement by higher dragons.
“Let’s go, let’s continue.” Anser laughed heartily.
This success greatly boosted his confidence, but for safety reasons, they did not stop there. Instead, they continued hunting while retreating, trying to stay as far away from Bluewater City as possible.
