Super Magician: The Magic Network Collapsed Again at the Start
Chapter 109 Wild Warlock
Chapter 109 Wild Warlock
Anser glanced at it out of the corner of his eye and his heart tightened. He gripped the Scepter of Protection tightly with his right hand, feeling an urge to run away.
Come to think of it, there are quite a few people on the road; if they need directions, why would they bother asking me?
The flying carpet approached with a whistling sound, circled around to his side, hovered low in the air, slightly higher than the horse's head.
The holy emblem on his chest was normal. Anser relaxed a little, raised his head, and looked at the other person with feigned surprise.
A figure sat on the flying carpet, completely covered by a purple cloak, revealing only a smooth chin and full, red lips.
A hot wind swept by, causing the cloak to cling tightly to the woman's body.
Thus, the wind also took shape.
Seeing that she didn't speak for a long time, Anser calmly said, "Hello, if you need to ask for directions, please ask someone else. I'm not from around here either."
The woman removed her hood, and her long purple hair flowed down like water, revealing a stunningly beautiful, fair face. Her purple eyes held the colors of the sky and the lake, exuding a captivating charm, and a faint smile played at the corners of her lips.
Anser's heart raced, and a feeling of love at first sight rose within him.
He immediately looked away, his first reaction not to how beautiful the woman was, but to just how charming she was.
At this moment, he finally understood how Tina felt when she first met him.
The woman smiled, took out a money pouch, and tossed it at the front of the flying carpet, revealing a glint of platinum light at the opening.
"Can you tell me what happened?" Her voice was low and gentle, her purple eyes fixed on Anser.
"In Bluewater City, a green dragon and a bald man got into a fight, and the city fell..." Anser briefly described.
He wasn't after money; he just felt there was no need to lie about something everyone already knew, and it wasn't worth needlessly angering others.
"An adult green dragon?" The woman frowned slightly.
"Probably," Anser mumbled, not every professional could distinguish the types and age groups of dragons.
"Who has the upper hand? Is that man still alive?"
"I don't know, I didn't dare to get close."
"Oh." The woman pointed a slender finger to the steel curtain to the west, her eyes filled with confusion. "You came from that side, do you know what that is? Isn't that the Sea of Swords?"
Anser understood; this person didn't seem to know what had happened, which was normal, since many scholars might not have even heard of the name Abel.
After a moment's thought, he did not hide it, and thanks to his deliberate dissemination, many people already knew the news.
Do you know anything about magical plagues?
"I've heard of it," the woman replied, raising an eyebrow and displaying a lively expression.
Anser averted his gaze to avoid losing his composure: "During the magical plague, Toril and Abel experienced boundary merging and region swapping..."
"You mean the boundary merging has reappeared, Abel's Emerald Plains are connected to Faerûn, and the green dragons have invaded..." the woman exclaimed in surprise.
"That's about right." Anser nodded slightly.
"You know... quite a lot." The woman crossed her arms, her small wand twirling between her fingers, her eyes flickering.
“I’ve only heard about it.” Anser smiled faintly. “Bluewater City is quite dangerous. I advise you not to go.”
As he spoke, he lightly nudged the horse's flank, intending to bypass the woman and continue on his way.
"You're going to Belgost?" The woman's eyes flickered, but she didn't move aside.
“Yes.” Anser didn’t mince words.
“I also advise you not to go. Am has amassed a large number of troops there, and the control is very strict.” The woman’s lips curled into a smile. “Your disguise probably won’t fool them.”
Anser's heart skipped a beat, but he remained outwardly calm: "Then let's go around it."
“My name is Elise. If you’re willing to accompany me to Bluewater City, I can use a flying carpet to take you to the Tower of Drag, and I’ll give you ten thousand gold coins as a reward.” The woman manipulated the flying carpet to circle around in front of Anser again, staring intently at him.
“Sorry, I want to live a few more days.” Anser remained unmoved and spurred his horse to circle around. “What if the green dragons all retreat?” The woman tossed a long, thin object to Anser. “Try this.”
Anser didn't take it immediately. He waited until he saw what the item looked like before grabbing it. It was a monocular telescope made of brass, with strange magical patterns drawn on its surface.
He set up his binoculars and looked out. The distant scenery was all in sight, and even the wings of insects several kilometers away were clearly visible.
Rotating the ring on the copper tube allows you to adjust the magnification and brightness, making it impossible for animals hiding in the shadows to escape detection. It seems this thing can be used at night as well.
"Good stuff," he exclaimed.
“I just checked,” the woman said calmly. “There are only some kobolds around Claw Bay. The green dragons and wyverns have all retreated. We need to hurry back and find Storr before we leave.”
“Storm? That bald man?” Anser raised an eyebrow. So this woman had come to rescue him. “What if… he dies?”
Elise's face darkened, and she took a few deep breaths: "He won't die that easily. If he does, try to bring his body back."
“Actually, I wouldn’t be able to help even if I went. How about I tell you the approximate location?” Anser suggested.
“Twenty thousand gold coins!” Elise emphasized the word.
Anser focused his attention on Elise, the dice spinning rapidly as he painstakingly detected the target's information:
Elise, Human, Level 16 Warlock (Wild Spellcaster)
No wonder.
Wild warlocks' innate magic originates from the chaos beneath the order of creation; they manipulate primal magic and are indeed easily adapted to environments with disordered magic networks.
He was at the peak of a level 16 advanced professional, but he still didn't have much of a chance against an adult green dragon, so he was still worried.
But if I don't go, it's hard to say how this woman will react.
Put yourself in his shoes. If he were preparing to rescue a relative or friend and encountered someone who knew the truth, he would never let them go, and would kidnap them if necessary.
However, he was not afraid. The opponent could not possibly regain all of his spellcasting abilities. He could run, fight, and hide in the Black Tower.
He pondered for a moment, then activated the King Butterfly Cloak, flapped his wings, flew high into the sky, set up his telescope, turned it to maximum magnification, and surveyed the situation in Bluewater City.
The situation dozens of kilometers away was clearly visible. He slowly turned his view and saw that the green dragon had indeed retreated. Even in the conquered city of Twilight, there were hardly any dragonborn or kobolds to be seen.
Many survivors who had been hiding on the peninsula also took the opportunity to escape and were not subjected to large-scale pursuit.
He landed, met Elise's gaze, and shamelessly said, "I don't want money, can I have this telescope?"
Elise's red lips parted slightly, her expression enigmatic: "You're so greedy, and so audacious."
"Then I'll go?"
"No, here you go!"
"Actually, I can pay the difference for you, it's mainly because I like it..."
“You can’t afford it.” Elise interrupted him abruptly, suspending the flying carpet beside him. “Get on!”
Anser patted the warhorse regretfully, untied its reins and saddle, and then jumped onto the flying carpet and crouched behind Elise.
"Sit down."
Before Elise could finish speaking, the flying carpet suddenly rose up, almost throwing Anser off. He hurriedly grabbed the buckle on the front of the flying carpet and barely managed to keep his body steady.
This magic flying carpet isn't very big; it's a bit cramped for two people to sit on. Its advantage is its speed; even carrying two adults, it's faster than a regular flying spell.
Anser deliberately sat back a little, not to avoid suspicion, but because Elise's flying hair was whipping his face and stinging.
The two sped along, traveling in a straight line through the air without taking any detours, and their speed was faster than expected.
Soon, the outline of Bluewater City came into view. Outside the city, there were kobold corpses everywhere, their dark green skin particularly eye-catching.
