Chapter 137 Dragon Slayer

'Huh, a dragon's legacy?' Anser seemed to have heard this term before, but it was also a bit unfamiliar.

He did indeed sense a unique magical power descending upon him, and was subsequently drawn into the dice.

The most exciting thing is the level increase. At level 7, you can master fourth-circle spells and new class traits, which greatly improves your strength.

His elaborate scheme to steal kills was worthwhile.

But now is not the time to think about these things. The others have no combat notifications and do not know that the black dragon is dead; they are still beating it up.

"Stop! Stop! He's already dead!" he shouted urgently.

Upon hearing this, everyone immediately stopped, took a few deep breaths, and their excited emotions gradually subsided.

Gu Tai released his grip, and the dragon head slammed to the ground with a thud. Blood flowed from its eyes, and its face became even more ferocious and terrifying.

For a moment, no one spoke; everyone just stared blankly at the black dragon.

"We slayed the dragon?" Colin, the halfling, slowly approached, stroking the dark dragon scales, his expression dazed.

"Heh, you used the word 'we' perfectly, you've got no shame." Blatt snapped out of his daze, pouted, and mimicked Colin's tone, saying, "We're really awesome!"

"Haha..." Anser smiled, which made everyone burst into laughter.

As they laughed, everyone gradually relaxed. It had been quite dangerous just now; Amn's team of professionals was indeed very strong.

"What should we do with this black dragon's corpse?" Salian looked at Anser, but kept glancing at Elise beside him out of the corner of his eye.

While they were indeed the main force that killed the black dragon, the entire battle was a unified effort, and no one can ignore the contributions of Drag and Jacquelineburg.

In particular, the female castle lord supported Anser at a crucial moment, interrupting the anti-magic field. Then, a series of meteors fell from the sky, causing hundreds of soldiers to flee in disarray, preventing the enemy from besieging Anser.

Therefore, the ownership of the Black Dragon became a major issue.

Anser had also considered this point, but felt it was unnecessary to discuss the allocation issue now.

He looked at Elise and asked, "Do you have any good ideas?"

"Your method of handling things is too wasteful. I have a magical vault in the basement of my castle that can preserve food for months without it spoiling." Elise looked at Anser with a half-smile. "You're not... worried about that, are you?"

“Of course not.” Anser chuckled lightly, his expression serious.

Choices made in battle best reveal a person's character. The moment Elise risked her life to save him, she had already earned his approval.

Elise chuckled, her smile bright: "I can't fit it all in, you take it."

She had seen the way the tree-man made his entrance before, so she knew he had this ability.

"I'll stop the bleeding first," Anser replied, casting freezing rays around the black dragon to seal the still-bleeding wound, so as not to waste them.

The others excitedly helped turn the body over so that nothing was missed.

Quentin was even more meticulous. He summoned a squad of guards to pick up the fallen dragon scales and flesh, and marked the soil that had seeped into the dragon's blood. It seemed he was preparing to send someone to shovel away all the soil.

He wanted to give all the odds and ends to Anser, but Anser refused outright, saying that they should keep those things as a reward for participating in the war, and the dragon scales could be kept as a souvenir of slaying the dragon.

After stopping the black dragon's bleeding, Anser placed a magical mark on it, which was then incorporated into the Hall Ray pattern.

The ancient tree moss and two living trees were also sent back to look after the black dragon's corpse, not because they were afraid it would be damaged, but because the black dragon's flesh and blood were not safe and could cause injury if touched accidentally.

The others stayed behind to clean up the battlefield and collect the spoils.

The professionals of Amn left behind many valuable things, which should not be overlooked.

After all that fuss, the sun was high in the sky, the temperature was rising, and the smell on the battlefield became increasingly unpleasant.

The spoils of war were plentiful; there were huge piles of muskets, ammunition, and various weapons and equipment, making them difficult to carry.

Anser had no choice but to work hard and temporarily store everything in Holrewyn, then send it back to rest along with Salian and the others.

Quentin nodded in satisfaction after seeing that nothing had been missed and ordered them to return.

The soldiers escorted the prisoners back home, all of them incredibly excited and not feeling tired at all.

Anser boarded Elise's flying carpet, and the two of them left first.

He had just looked through the binoculars; there was no movement at Amn's camp, so they must have given up. Back at Jacqueline Castle, Elizabeth led him straight underground.

Below the castle are two more levels: the first level is a regular basement and ice cellar, and the second level is a magical vault.

The two went down the stairs and entered a pair of bronze metal doors that were five meters high, covered with intricate silver patterns and encased in a magical barrier.

Elise reached out and touched the door, and circles of magic rippled outwards before the door slowly opened.

She stepped inside and explained softly, "My maternal grandmother was a learned archmage. She oversaw the construction of this array, and my parents improved and upgraded parts of it..."

Anser followed behind her and found that the place was very empty, with only a few shelves, stone platforms, treasure chests and the like, containing dozens of magical items.

Further inside, there is a huge circular platform that looks like a pool, shimmering with silver light.

There are two other doors nearby, but I don't know where they lead.

"Put it on here, this is specially used to store the corpses of giant beasts," Elise said, pointing to the circular platform.

Anser activated the Scepter of Protection, teleporting the black dragon's corpse to the platform. A ring of magical light then emanated from the platform, completely enveloping the black dragon.

"I don't understand it, but it seems very unusual. By the way, why didn't you become a mage?" He was a little curious, as Elise was a pure warlock and didn't even have a mage rank.

“I want to know too.” Elise’s eyes were empty. “From as far back as I can remember, my father taught me how to control my innate magic, and my mother taught me all sorts of mysterious knowledge.”

"That means you have exceptional talent," Anser guessed.

“Of course.” Elise raised an eyebrow, looking completely matter-of-fact. She waved her hand. “Let’s go. I contacted a friend of my father’s who studied in Candlehold before moving to Giants’ Plains.”

These things will only truly be useful once she arrives.

She doesn't plan to sell the black dragon; materials of this caliber are rare, and selling it would be a waste.

"Hmm." Anser understood; he didn't know how to handle it either, so leaving it to a professional was a good idea. "You said you wanted to find a buyer for the green dragon's tail, is she the one?"

“No.” Elise watched the vault door slowly close, then turned and went upstairs. “That person lives in the Sharp Tooth Forest. He’s a very eccentric alchemist who comes out every few days. If he’s interested, I’ll send someone to inform you.”

"Alright."

As they spoke, the two arrived at the first floor of the main castle.

"Go back and rest, I'm going to the Federation." Elise nudged Anser, she had already noticed the weariness in his eyes.

“Alright.” Anser waved his hand. “The spoils are still with me. You guys discuss how to distribute them, and try to make sure everyone gets a share. We can’t let all our hard work go to waste.”

"Can't forget."

Elise gave the butler a few instructions and flew straight out of the castle.

Anser returned to his room, closed the door, and teleported to Holreven.

The tree-man was sleeping; it was injured, but thankfully not seriously.

The newly appointed village chief, Lu Ding, is leading dozens of villagers in building houses, working busily and enthusiastically.

Most of the others stayed in the Black Tower Hall, listening to Blatt explain the battle that had just taken place.

After greeting everyone, Anser went to the top floor alone, lay down on the bed, and brought up his character card.

A glowing mark shaped like a black dragon floated above, very eye-catching.

He touched it with his consciousness, and a message flowed into his heart.

[Having received a dragon's legacy, please select the legacy's effect, or use it to enhance one of your dragon-related abilities.]

'So that's how it is.' After carefully reviewing the information, Anser understood.

When a dragon dies, its power may be transferred to a creature that may be the dragon's chosen successor or the one who killed the dragon.

Dragon inheritances are highly random and unpredictable, and even the effects of these inheritances vary greatly, sometimes even having negative consequences.

However, the dice neutralized this force, making it more regulated.
