Chapter 41 Heim, the God of Protection
The character card's equipment section now contains four more magical items, two of which are covered by a layer of black and red light and shadow.

These are the bow and blade of the Corpse Demon, ordinary quality magical items, yet they bear the same curse.

Curse of Weakness: The user is forced to perform a medium difficulty (18) constitution exemption once a day. Failure will result in being afflicted by Dark Erosion, damaging life and reducing maximum life by one point.

'A chicken bone,' Anser sighed inwardly.

The damage from the Dark Corrosion directly affects the target's vitality, causing diseases, curses, or reducing maximum health. Mild cases can be healed by the body itself, while severe cases may cause permanent damage.

If someone who is unaware of the truth uses a weapon cursed with weakening effects, they will become increasingly weak.

The other two magical items were fairly normal: a half-sword and a silver cup.

The half-sword is Captain Am's weapon, named "Silent Sword," of excellent quality, with the characteristics of "Toughness" and "Wind Slash."

"Wind Slash" is relatively rare; it allows the longsword to be swung almost silently, and the slashing speed is even faster.

This sword is very valuable; warrior weapons are always in short supply, but he won't sell it for the time being.

What surprised Anser the most was the silver cup that shimmered with a golden light.

[Magic Item: Guardian Grail]

Category: Curiosities
Rarity: Rare

This is a sacred item from the Church of the Protector God, containing pure light power.

"Aura of Clarity": Increases saving throw by 2 against spells that affect mind, such as Sleep, Suggestion, and Confusion.

"Guardian of Radiance": When activated, it bursts forth a blazing light in a designated area, dealing 1d8 (1-8) points of radiance damage. If the target is a demon or undead creature, the damage is increased by 1d8.

每发充能覆盖5尺(1.5米)见方的区域,每10发充能额外造成1d8光耀伤害,最大3d8(3-24)。

Current charge: 0/30.

When worn close to the body, every time you take a proactive and spontaneous action of vigilance, protection, and keeping your promises, it will resonate with the Holy Grail and the realms of life and light, granting you one charge.

Heim followers receive an extra charge per day.

'Heim?'

Anser took out the Holy Grail, wiped it briefly, and sure enough, he found the Iron Gauntlet emblem of Heim at the bottom.

Heim is the god of warning and protection, presiding over the realms of life and light, guiding believers to remain vigilant, clear-headed, and faithful to their promises.

'Very powerful, very demanding.' Anser didn't know how to describe this sacred object.

Its fully charged damage is the same as the Radiant Orb, but the Radiant Orb is a single-target attack, while the Guardian Radiance can cover an area with a diameter of up to 45 meters, which is significantly less.

The key is that it doesn't require "synchronization" and can be used simply by holding it, but it's difficult for the average person to fully utilize its core features.

"Proactive and spontaneous" means that the user's motivation and the result must meet the requirements, and the motivation even takes precedence over the result. Accidental success does not count.

But if someone keeps doing what the Holy Grail asks, wouldn't they eventually become a follower of Heim?

'I wonder who created this Holy Grail; they're incredibly cunning.'

'The Aura of Clarity isn't bad either; it'll do for now.'

He attached the Holy Grail to his necklace and tucked it into his cloak along with the Holy Symbol.

These items were spoils of war from his solo operations and were entirely at his disposal.

Those Ammen people are very wealthy, and the weapons and equipment they threw into the lake must be quite good, but he doesn't plan to retrieve them. They have accomplices, so he'll deal with it another time.

Or you could take some time to make a treasure map and sell it; that would be a good business.
-
As dawn broke, the group formed a long line and trekked through the wilderness.

Dozens of people, along with their families, carrying large and small bags, were covered in trash, looking like refugees.

The leader rode a black steed over two meters tall, wearing a black cloak, and occasionally ran up to a high point to stop and look around.

However, the wilderness is vast and there are no obvious landmarks, making it difficult to pinpoint the location accurately.

Anser sighed and casually stuffed the map in his hand into his backpack.

Let's leave the guiding job to Finn from now on; he's really not cut out for it. He can still get lost even when using a 3D map with location tracking in a game, let alone in a high-difficulty scene like this.

At that moment, Eamon caught up from behind and waved to him from a distance.

Anser patted the horse's back lightly, and Nornos turned around and ran downhill, taking small, quick steps to get there.

"Anser, is no one following us?"

"No."

“That’s good. Let’s part ways here. Our men are exhausted and need to rest for half a day.” Amon didn’t want to use Blatt’s relationship to hold Anser back. Anser was a spellcaster; his time was not the same as that of ordinary people.

“Let’s rest for a while and take a nap before we go,” Anser nodded.

"it is good."

Watching Emon busy himself with setting up camp, comforting people, and cooking, I couldn't help but feel a sense of emotion.

Everyone has their own choices, and in this life, he only wants to be responsible for himself.

Many people say they owe this and that in their past lives, but in reality, they owe themselves the most.

Anser waved to Blatt and the other man, and the group found another dry spot on high ground.

No food was cooked this time. The three of them sat side by side, each holding a bag of emergency rations.

Emergency rations are a type of loose food made by mixing cheese, sausage, cured meat, dried fruit, salted biscuits, etc., and they are not unpalatable.

After a night of fussing, everyone was hungry and ate with great relish.

“Thank you, Anser,” Blatt suddenly said.

Anser smiled but didn't reply.

In retrospect, he helped Blatter a lot, but each time the risk was very small. However, at the Flying Dragon Bridge, when the javelin came flying, Blatter knew he might die, but he still stood firmly in front of him.

How many people can do that?

"Do you want the Sky-Piercing Sword? It should be a bit better than yours." He changed the subject.

“I’m not used to using a half-sword,” Blatt shook his head. “A sword and shield suit me better.”

His fighting style is "interception," and he is accustomed to using a one-handed sword; he is not particularly skilled with a shield or throwing axe.

"Teach me some close combat skills later, unarmed, short blade, or longsword." Anser's transformation technique is more suitable for close-quarters combat.

Warlocks are already skilled in using simple weapons such as daggers, clubs, and scythes, so learning military weapons or hand-to-hand combat is not too difficult.

“Okay,” Blatt readily agreed.

As they were talking, a cry of an eagle rang out from the sky. Finn paused, his eyes becoming vacant.

After a long while, he turned to look at Anser: "A group of people came out of the Cloak Forest, with several carriages with sidecars, heading towards... Giant Red Deer Village."

“Nashivar.” Anser suddenly remembered the Ammun’s dying threat.

“Nashival?” Blatt exclaimed in surprise, “Nashival, one of the five great families of Amn?”

"Probably." Anser knew about the Council of Five Elders of Amn, but he didn't know exactly which five families they were.

“Nashival controls Aismirtaran, primarily through mining and the slave trade, with influence extending across half of the Sword Coast. He is very powerful. We need to be careful; Nashival is vengeful.”

Having lived in Am for some time, Blatt had a better understanding of the tyranny and greed of the Council of the Five Elders.

There are no secrets in this world; the dead and the spirits can speak, and it's only a matter of time before people find out.

"Let them come, they're just a bunch of slave traders." Anser said harshly, but in reality, he became wary.
