I summoned the Fourth Scourge in Warhammer
Chapter 126 Let's play a game of Gwent first.
Chapter 126 Let's play a game of Gwent first.
[BUG] Utterly speechless.
In fact, upon calm reflection, what [Ghostface] said was quite correct. The plan he proposed was an unforgivable heresy in the eyes of the citizens of the Empire, but from the player's perspective, it was merely a... well, a somewhat creative way to achieve one's goals by utilizing game mechanics.
BUG sighed as he completely lowered his hand from the bomb gun, accepting reality: "Alright then, what are you planning to do next? Don't tell me you're just going to wait here for the Dark Eldar to appear and open the Webgate from the inside."
"What else can we do?" Ghost Face shrugged, pulling out a beautifully packaged card box from somewhere. "Let's play a game of Gwent, of course!"
Bug's eyes lit up instantly: "Great! I've got this trick up my sleeve, you're no match for me..."
He suddenly realized halfway through his sentence: "Wait a minute, you mean... we're really just going to wait here?"
Ghostface skillfully drew the cards from the box: "Unless you can grab a Space Necromancer right now, this is the only way."
"You're being way too unreliable!" BUG felt his blood pressure rising again. "What if the Dark Eldar don't come out of here for another year? Are we just going to wait here for a whole year?"
“Hehe, don’t worry,” Ghostface said in a mysterious tone as he cut the cards, “Statistically speaking, the Dark Eldar could come in a second.”
“If you’re not going to tell me where your confidence comes from, or answer me with something like ‘Because I’m Batman!’, then I’m not playing with you anymore,” BUG said, crossing his arms and adopting a posture of nonviolent non-cooperation. “You’d better find someone else to complete your lucky number.”
"Sigh, I really can't do anything with you." Ghost Face shook his head, his tone as if he were dealing with a tantrum-throwing child. "Fine, I'll tell you."
"Because I can feel that terror and fear are gradually approaching."
"Uh, is this your skill?" BUG asked instinctively, then waved his hand, thinking it might involve the other person's privacy, "In that case, I won't ask too much..."
"It doesn't matter, I can tell you everything." Ghost Face had already begun separating the cards of each faction with practiced ease. "This is indeed my skill, but it's not from the game."
"If it's not from a game, is it from real life?" BUG casually remarked.
“Correct!” Ghost Face snapped his fingers, his voice crisp. “I can sense other people’s fear from birth. And the more fearful they are, the more dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin I release. In layman’s terms, the more fearful others are, the more excited and happy I become.”
At this point, Ghost Face shrugged: "At first I thought everyone was like this, until later when my parents sent me to a private sanatorium, I realized that I seemed to be an outcast."
Upon hearing such a shocking answer, BUG decided to immediately stop exploring this topic further. He had no desire to know any more about the childhood stories of mentally ill patients.
"Anyway," he forcefully steered the conversation back on track, "you're certain that the Dark Eldar will be here soon, right?"
“Yes,” Ghostface said confidently, piling the dealt cards on the ground. “They’ll be here soon. In this world with the warp, my abilities have been amplified like never before. I can feel the shadow of terror drawing ever closer, like an alien about to burst forth. Freddy knows that too, right, Freddy?”
Freddy, who had been sitting cross-legged on the floor arranging cards, said coldly without looking up, "Don't drag me into this, you schizophrenic lunatic. So, are you two coming or not? If you don't want to play cards, go chat on the other side, okay?"
Only then did Bug notice that, apart from him and Ghostface, everyone else—Jason, Michael, Leatherface, and the others—had already chosen their sides, laid out their cards, and were sitting quietly cross-legged on the ground. Their expressions were unreadable beneath the black full-face helmets, but their poised posture clearly indicated that the game was about to begin. "Damn it! You pedophile with such terrible taste in clothes, how dare you launch a personal attack on me…" Ghostface gritted his teeth and muttered a curse, then quickly sat down on the ground. "Bring it on, you think you're going to be scared of me?!"
Then, everyone's attention focused on BUG, who was still standing. Those silent gazes startled BUG, who was pondering whether Freddy's pronouns for Ghostface and Ghostface's pronouns for Freddy were simply playing on a reference from the original movie, or whether they actually existed in reality, or both.
"Um, well, let me ask you a question first," BUG felt like a husky that had wandered into a pack of wolves, "Do you guys... all know each other in real life?"
"Isn't it obvious? Otherwise, why would they all come up with these thriller-related names? It must have been planned beforehand," Freddy said impatiently, tapping the cards in front of him. "So, newbie, are you in?"
Anyway, jumping into the net tunnel later would be a near-death experience, so I might as well stay in this madhouse for a while... BUG sighed resignedly and found an empty seat among them.
"I'll choose the Northern Territory."
……
An hour later, on the desolate wasteland.
"Ha! Burn warning! Burn your strongest unit on the field!"
"It's no use! My command horn is already itching for action!"
"Damn it, he even has a spy card..."
Just as [BUG] meticulously calculated and laid a trap, seemingly about to use a perfect Northern Realms deck to defeat [Oni Mask]'s monster army and achieve his first victory against these madmen, Oni Mask suddenly raised his head and slammed the cards in his hand face down on the ground.
"Alright, let's pause the game."
As soon as the words were spoken, as if receiving some kind of pre-set command, Freddy, Jason, Michael and the others immediately began to pack up their cards without saying a word. Their movements were uniform and swift, which surprised BUG.
"Hey! Why did you suddenly stop playing?" he exclaimed, pointing to a row of gleaming gold hero cards on his table. "No way! I finally managed to win a game! Look, if you play one more card, you're doomed to lose!"
"No way, you've really gotten addicted to it?" Ghost Face looked at him speechlessly, his gaze like that of someone looking at a gambling addict. "Have you forgotten why we came here?"
Upon hearing Ghostface's words, Bug suddenly snapped out of his daze, the excitement of playing cards instantly replaced by the cold reality. He abruptly realized: "The Dark Eldar are coming?"
“It’s almost there.” Ghost Face stood up and turned to face the pink Anywhere Door standing amidst the pile of rocks.
