Chapter 61 We are all your strong support
Assassin quickly arrived with his squad. They spotted the players from Class 7 surrounding something from afar, but hesitated to approach. As they drew closer, they saw the cult wizard Kyle, who was emitting increasingly manic roars.
"How's it going? Is everything alright?" Assassin asked.
“It’s more than just okay,” Eagle Policeman shrugged, pointing to Kyle, who was shaking his head wildly in place. “This idiot has been acting crazy here the whole time. We were afraid we wouldn’t have enough firepower, so we didn’t touch him.” He added, “After all, during the nest-down positional battle, the entire company’s firepower was focused on that Chaos Wizard and it was useless. This guy looks much more powerful than that Chaos Wizard.”
Assassin glanced at the strange wizard and realized that the psionic energy emanating from him was indeed not to be underestimated. After a moment's thought, he said, "How about we try conventional weapons first? After all, using that sulfur fire would take me ten hours offline, and I really don't want to use it unless absolutely necessary."
"Sure thing!" Eagle Policeman eagerly agreed, yelling to his squad, "Brothers, now that we have backup, let's go up and chop the crap out of them!" He was clearly itching to get going and had been wanting to fight for a long time.
The players in Class 7 reacted enthusiastically, shouting excitedly.
"Ohhhhhh!"
"Sacrifice blood to the Emperor, and offer your skull to the Golden Throne!"
Amidst deafening battle cries, the players of Class 7 charged forward, their weapons slashing wildly at Kyle. However, just as their weapons were about to touch Kyle, an invisible force suddenly erupted.
"Buzz!"
All melee weapons, from dueling swords to entrenching tools, were frozen in mid-air, as if glued in place. The players strained with all their might, muscles taut, veins bulging, but their weapons wouldn't budge. Even Big Eagle Policeman, with his arm veins bulging, couldn't push them down or pull them out. The other players, needless to say, were all red-faced and helpless.
A savage gleam of pleasure spread across Kyle's twisted face as he uttered a few words through clenched teeth: "Profanes... I will burn you to ashes under the watchful eye of the Lord of the Void!"
As he finished speaking, an invisible energy wave emanated from Kyle and spread outwards like ripples. Several cracking sounds emanated from the bodies of the few ordinary mortal players at the forefront, as if their bones were being twisted instantly. Then, they were contorted into pretzel shapes and collapsed to the ground with a thud. Immediately afterward, a flame rose from within their corpses, and just as Kyle had said, they were instantly reduced to charred ashes, leaving not a trace.
Only the Great Eagle Policeman was still resisting. Although his body was also bound by an invisible force, he was still struggling thanks to Oglin's powerful physique. Seeing his companion burned to ashes, he immediately cursed, "You son of a bitch! You burned biomass, what will your master eat? When it comes, it'll probably eat you first!"
Although Oglin's ability to utter such logical and sarcastic statements seemed more alarming than the players' lack of souls, Kyle, in a state of mental frenzy, paid no heed. He simply increased his psionic output, and the purple light instantly enveloped Eagle Sheriff and his crew, burning them to ashes.
"Brother Sassin, it's up to you!" The members of Squad 9, who had witnessed this scene, knew what was going to happen next, so they all took off running and shielded Assassin in front of them. In no time, they had run hundreds of meters away, leaving only shouts that could be heard from afar, "Don't let everyone down!"
"Yes, Brother Sa, don't be afraid, fight bravely!"
"Go ahead and have fun, Sassin! We've got your backing!" "Those bastards," Assassin shook his head helplessly, watching his teammates disappear into the distance, and muttered, "Does my skill really have that much destructive power?"
"They all ran away, why didn't you?" Kyle's figure appeared before Assassin in an instant, like a ghost, his distorted face almost touching his own. "Aren't you afraid of dying?"
“First of all, it’s not just me who’s not afraid to die, none of us are,” Assassin corrected, speaking calmly. “They’re running away just because they don’t want to lose their gear.”
He paused, then looked at Kyle seriously. "Secondly, I sincerely advise you not to burn corpses indiscriminately. If your Lord knew you were overturning his food bowl like that, he would definitely be furious."
"Finally... uh, I can't think of anything else to say to stall for time. Anyway, I'm about to burst, so I'm not going to act anymore." Assassin thought for a moment, then shrugged. "To hell with all the aliens!"
In an instant, a crimson beam of light shot skyward from Assassin's mouth, as fiery as a volcanic eruption, engulfing everything in front of him. The astonishing heat instantly distorted the air, cracked the ground, and Kyle's contorted body didn't even have time to utter a sound before it was reduced to nothingness in this pure torrent of energy, along with the surrounding ruins, all consumed by the sulfurous fire.
In the distance, in the Trinity foundry, the mechanical priest Redito Osimha also witnessed this scene. His red electronic eyes flashed, and he uttered a mechanical buzzing sound: "Again... Looks like he's calmed himself down."
Wild psionicists who haven't received official Imperial training invariably self-destruct due to their inability to control their psionic abilities, and this is especially true for those with more powerful psionic abilities. And Peditia clearly lacks the capacity to train wild psionicists at present.
Redito's original expectation was that the other party would explode and die immediately due to loss of control after the last burst of his psionic energy; this was the best-case scenario he could foresee.
The situation is now clearly deteriorating: this unknowable psychic has barely managed to stabilize his psychic power, turning from a bomb that could explode at any moment into a bomb that can explode at any time.
As a mechanical priest, Redito hates nothing more than uncontrollable variables and changes.
“A Delta-level psionicist…” Redito looked at the reading on the psionic detector he had hastily created after seeing that pillar of fire last time. After fluctuating wildly, the data finally stabilized at an alarming number. He sighed, and the sensors on his robotic arm trembled as well. “Why am I so unlucky? According to past data analysis, he should only have a 0.7% chance of surviving after awakening his psionic abilities.”
Redito gazed at the deep starry sky outside the window and murmured to himself, "When will the reinforcements finally arrive..."
