I summoned the Fourth Scourge in Warhammer

Chapter 62 Motor Oil Guy: Why is your equipment so new?

Chapter 62 Motor Oil Guy: Why is your equipment so new?
After the death of the cult wizard Kyle, the gene-stealers, having lost their unified authority, chose to withdraw from the processing zone. Although they still number in the thousands, including several purebloods, they are clearly no longer willing to engage in brutal street battles with the players in this area.

Even with a supreme commander, there was no glimmer of hope for victory. Now, with no one able to command anyone else and everyone fighting their own battles, the only outcome is total annihilation. So, after a brief discussion, the cunning ones chose to retreat.

The players didn't give chase; after all, they could tell the difference between earning more merit points for completing a mission and killing enemies. After confirming there was no more large-scale resistance in the area, Ruan Wenbo contacted the mechanic priest via walkie-talkie.

"This is the suicide squad, can you hear me?"

A buzzing sound came from the other end of the walkie-talkie, followed by a synthesized voice with a metallic echo: "This is the Trinity Foundry, please speak."

“We’ve cleared out the Genestealer cult that was entrenched in the Trinity Foundry and are currently advancing towards your location. We can already see the black spire you mentioned. Are there any other threats along the way?” Ruan Wenbo asked.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the walkie-talkie, as if they were performing some kind of data analysis or confirmation. After a short while, the synthesized voice sounded again, with a hint of barely perceptible relaxation: "That's all, you can come over directly."

The players accelerated their advance, and soon, a vast and ancient industrial marvel came into view. The Trinity Foundry was less a workshop and more a steel mountain composed of countless black spires, massive chimneys, and intricate pipes.

The air was filled with the smells of engine oil, metal, and some indescribable sulfur. A huge mechanical arm slowly swung in the air, spewing out steam and emitting a deafening roar.

As the players arrived before the massive gate forged from heavy steel, it slowly opened with a creaking sound. A group of figures clad in long red robes emerged—the Skitali, the protectors of the Mechanicus.

These Skitali warriors bore the marks of mechanical modification. Their limbs had been replaced with bionic prosthetics, their eyes gleamed red, and respirators obscured their faces, revealing only a few cold metal tubes. Although their weapons were spotless, their armor showed signs of multiple repairs, with rivets and welds visible everywhere.

Leading the way was the mechanical priest. He was taller than the Skitalis, dressed in a more ornate red robe, with countless data cables extending from his spine, connecting to various detection devices on his back. His head was almost entirely replaced by machinery, leaving only a patch of pale skin; one eye was replaced by a huge optical eyepiece, while the other flickered with an unnatural red light. His voice echoed multiple times, like a machine whisper.

As Redito's gaze swept over the fallen, a sense of doubt arose in his heart. Although this Astronautical company also appeared travel-worn, with some damage to their armor and weapons, Redito could immediately tell that their equipment was remarkably new, as if it had just come off the production line, a stark contrast to the patched-up gear of the Skitali.

Redito did not immediately reveal these doubts, but instead exchanged salutes with Nguyen Van Bo, who was standing at the front.

“I am the mechanical priest of the Trinity foundry. You may call me Ridto Osimha.” The mechanical priest’s voice was deep and mechanical.

“Lord Redito, hello,” Nguyen Van Bo nodded in response. “I am Nguyen Van Bo, the company commander of the 13th Company of the Peditian Astral Army, the Deathbringers.”

“We need to conduct genetic testing on you to confirm that you haven’t been infected by the aliens, is that alright?” Redito said bluntly.

Ruan Wenbo gestured and said, "Please go ahead."

Then, the guards behind Redito moved out in unison, their movements precise and swift, like robotic arms on an assembly line, beginning to draw blood from the players. The players did not resist, all watching the guards with curiosity.

"Ugh, these Guardians of the Faith look kind of cringeworthy," a player muttered under his breath, looking at Skitali, whose face was half covered by a metal plate and who only had one mechanical eye left.

“I feel something strangely beautiful about it.” Another player was drawn to the precise, flawless mechanical joints and the flashing red light. “This one seems to have a high level of radiation; I can feel a burning sensation…” one player muttered, rubbing his arm after having his blood drawn.

"Do you think that if some organs and limbs are mechanically modified, the upper limit of strength will be increased?" Some people began to think about deeper questions.

"Hiss, good question! If the increase is in the upper limit of strength, then after the modification, each resurrection will probably not be a pure flesh and blood body, but will retain the mechanical modification part."

"So mechanical ascension is the answer to this version?!" Players immediately launched into a heated discussion.

The collected blood samples were quickly analyzed by Redito, and everything was normal. After confirming there were no signs of alien infection, the cyborg priest's gaze fell on the only armored vehicle belonging to the Death Squad parked not far away—the brand-new Chimera Wyvern Suppressor.

"Can I see that wyvern?" Redito asked, his voice filled with barely suppressed curiosity and eagerness.

Nguyen Van Bo readily agreed: "No problem!" After all, the priest would be needed for maintenance, upkeep, and shell manufacturing, so it was impossible to leave him out of the picture.

Having received permission, Rédito practically couldn't wait to approach the Chimera. He extended his hand, with its metal knuckles, and carefully stroked the smooth exterior, as if touching a sacred object. He opened the door, examining the intricate interior structure; he opened the hood, scrutinizing every component of the engine; he even disregarded the gauges, lying on the ground to inspect the chassis, and then climbed onto the vehicle to examine the quadruple mortars mounted on the roof. Every movement he made was filled with focus and professionalism, like a craftsman obsessed with his craft.

After reading it, Redito's doubts were completely uncontrollable. He straightened up, his red optical eyepieces turning towards Ruan Wenbo: "Where did you get this bipedal dragon?"

"Huh?" Ruan Wenbo didn't expect to be asked this question.

“All of her parts are brand new,” Redito’s voice trembled slightly, a sign of extreme shock. “Not even one of them is more than a year old… no, a month!”

Redito repeated, "Where did you get this two-legged dragon?"

Ruan Wenbo was at a loss for words. Although he knew that the NPCs in this game were highly intelligent, wasn't this level of intelligence a bit unreasonable? The key was that he really couldn't think of a reason to fob off this mechanical priest! When it came to mechanics and industry, the other party was definitely a million times more professional than him.

After hesitating for a moment, Ruan Wenbo decided to give an ambiguous answer: "She appeared on the battlefield suddenly, perhaps as a reward for our loyalty to humanity."

Redito was even more incredulous. He discovered that his instruments actually showed the other person was telling the truth!

In other words, the truth is that a brand-new, factory-new Chimera Wyvern Suppressor suddenly appeared on the battlefield, complete with its own cannonballs! Oh Messiah, could it be that you have manifested your power?

For a fleeting moment, Redito felt as if the entire Astronautical Army company was radiating golden light.
