I summoned the Fourth Scourge in Warhammer
Chapter 79: Victory by Any Means
Chapter 79: Victory by Any Means
Inside the command post in Zhongchao, the metallic floor reflected the cold, eerie green light of the tactical screens. Ruan Wenbo listened quietly to the report transmitted by Moth over the communicator, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
“An enemy of the Slaanesh…” He pondered for a moment, his voice sounding particularly heavy in the solemn command center, “Whether they are demons or Space Marines, they are not easy to deal with.”
But they couldn't simply ignore it. The corruption of Chaos was like the most malignant tumor; once discovered, it had to be surgically removed. Letting these creatures, indulging in extreme pleasure and pain, continue to reside in Upper Nest was a recipe for disaster. Who knew when they might unleash a devastating attack on the entire warp, tearing open the veil of reality and summoning a powerful demon or two? At that point, the entire planet Pedithia would be utterly finished.
"You all stay where you are for now and don't make any rash moves," Ruan Wenbo gave the order after a moment's hesitation. "Since the bar is safe for now, set up an observation post there and wait for the heavy firepower units to arrive at the nest."
"Understood," the moth's voice came clearly.
After hanging up the communication, Nguyen Van Bo looked up, his gaze sweeping over the company commanders of various ranks and the mechanical priest Redito standing before him. The atmosphere in the command post became oppressive because of this news.
"So, what do you all think?" he asked. "Is the suggestion to directly bombard the governor's mansion with heavy firepower feasible?"
"Forgive my bluntness, Commander, but almost none." Redito shook his metal head first, his mechanical eyes flashing with analytical light. "The higher one's position, the less willing they are to take risks, valuing their own life more than anyone else... Ah, I'm not making veiled accusations against any particular powerful figure; this is simply a conclusion based on sociological statistics. Upper-class nobles often have an extreme fear of death, while middle-class workers and lower-class commoners often harbor a disdain for death, or at least are indifferent to the ubiquitous presence of it..."
He seemed to realize he had gone off-topic, paused for a moment, and continued, "In short, given the wealth of Pedidia in the past, it wouldn't be surprising if the main material used to build its governor's mansion was as hard as the terracotta armor of the Space Marines, or even the adamantite of the keel of a warship."
“In other words,” Nguyen Van Bo immediately grasped the key point, “unless the navy can carry out orbital bombardment, the idea of blowing up the Governor’s Palace is out of the question.”
“Yes,” Redito replied affirmatively, his electronic voice completely flat.
“This is troublesome,” said the Assassin, crossing his arms. “Whether the enemy is a demon or a Space Marine, it’s a problem to overwhelm them with our numbers. Especially the Chaos Space Marines. New recruits are fine, but if a veteran of ten thousand years jumps out… in the complex indoor environment of the Governor’s Mansion, no matter how many of us we put in, it won’t be enough to kill them.”
He paused, then added, "It would be best to find a way to get them to come out of their shells and charge towards our pre-set heavy firepower positions."
“The Chaos Enemies are not foolish beasts,” Redito said unequivocally. “Besides, the fact that they can stay in their nests for so long without venturing out proves that something there is deeply attracting them. At least in the short term, they have no intention of coming out.”
As a mechanical priest with an unusually long lifespan, Redito's "short term"... when converted to mortal time, could very well be ten years, or even longer.
Ruan Wenbo was well aware of the seriousness of the matter: "We can't let them go on like this for so long. It was one thing if we didn't know before, but now that we do, we have to deal with it as soon as possible. Gentlemen, we must come up with a way to get these guys out of the house."
A deep silence fell over the command post. Just then, Assassin suddenly posed a highly constructive question: "If...we were to throw shit into the governor's mansion, would it be possible to humiliate those guys and force them out?"
Upon hearing this, the entire command center seemed to be put on pause. Everyone else present, whether foreign players or Warhammer natives like Ridto, was stunned for several seconds, the air seemingly frozen. "Hmm..." Ridto's intricate head turned slightly, taking a full three seconds to process and confirm that the sound wave signal he received was correct. The red light emanating from his electronic eyes underwent a subtle, indescribable change as a result.
The other players also gradually recovered from their shock.
"This...this is just too outrageous!"
"As expected of the founder of the self-destruction style, he actually has such an outrageous idea..."
Then, for the first time during the meeting, Redito's synthesized voice showed noticeable fluctuations: "First of all, I cannot predict the success rate of this plan, because neither the historical data I have downloaded nor my personal experience has ever shown anything similar..."
“Secondly,” Redito’s mechanical head turned to the Assassins, the metal plates on his face revealing no expression, but his focused electronic eyes radiated an unprecedented seriousness, “this is the ultimate insult to the sacred creation of the god of machines, Om Messiah. I will never allow you to stuff your filthy excrement into the sacred breech!”
"Why? I think this plan is pretty good. Victory is no matter the means," Assassin shrugged. "Even if the enemy is unaffected, it can change their image in our eyes from 'a mentally ill person who likes to skin people alive' to 'a mentally ill person who bathes in mountains of excrement and urine'... The deterrent effect drops by half instantly, doesn't it?"
This peculiar argument seemed to have flipped a switch on the imagination of everyone present, and strange images appeared in everyone's minds.
"It's not just a drop of half, it's gone completely negative..."
"I'm afraid my men will laugh so hard they'll collapse on the ground and lose all fighting ability when they see the enemy charging out covered in shit..."
"Hey, hey, hey, what's with this sudden shift from dark, gory, and bloody to a scatological mess of poop and pee...?"
"Don't even mention it, the more you talk about it, the more I want to try it. Aren't you curious about what it would be like to have shit covering a warp demon or a chaos space marine?"
As the battalion commander, Nguyen Van Bo, who held the highest rank among those present, after a period of intense and agonizing deliberation, finally took a deep breath and, in a reckless tone, made his decision: "...Let's include it as an alternative."
“If this alternative plan is really to be implemented,” Redito immediately stated, “I will absolutely not be responsible for producing that batch of special shells; you’ll have to figure it out yourselves.”
