Chapter 109, Section 108: The Whispering Spell
Chapter 109, Section 108: The Whispering Spell
Outside the classroom, the stone wall illuminated by candlelight made a "cooing" sound, and Mr. Owl raised one claw, adjusting his glasses as if performing a circus act.
Its other foot gripped the parchment scroll tightly, and its large eyes were as bright and alert as they were the day Professor McGonagall appeared in the fireplace.
Beside the soft cushion, to the left of the gold-trimmed letter, was a well-fitting and comfortable-looking sweater, with a letter resting on its blue and white collar:
My mother sent a lot of sweaters; you're not the only one who sent them.
Your friend: Hermione Granger
As if to confirm this, two other sweaters were placed to the left of this sweater, with the words "For Justin and Neville" clearly and forcefully written on them.
Sheen's smile was always subtle, a small curve at the corners of his mouth, but enough to draw the attention of the few people peeking through the crack in the door.
Mr. Owl flapped his wings and hooted loudly:
"Little wizard! Silly little wizard!"
"Please keep your voice down..."
Justin clasped his hands together, which finally stopped Mr. Owl from hooting and made him turn his head 180 degrees.
Then it quietly opened one eye, as if it could see the scene inside through the sky-blue door.
Sheen put the sweater away in the closet. Just when he thought there were only these two, he discovered that under Justin's package, there was another sweater that was obviously a size too big.
A crumpled piece of paper was placed on top:
【Sheen, I... have nothing else...】
Sheen's smile widened as he scribbled several notes on the back of the paper with his quill pen.
Thank you, that's enough.
In one morning, Sheen received three sweaters, and along with the dilemma of which one to wear, he also had to figure out what to give in return.
Friendships that are one-sided never last. Like all relationships, friendships require a long and complex process.
As the fire blazed even more fiercely, Sheen glanced casually at the doorway and wondered if they should cast a whisper spell on Mr. Owl.
That way, its cries won't drift over to me.
Sheen silently put away the wand he had prepared to use to improve his proficiency with the Whispering Charm, and instead carried three pieces of clothing slowly toward the door.
This terrified the three young wizards who were peeking through the door, and they hurriedly ran to the spiral staircase.
"Haha—you silly little wizard!"
Mr. Owl had just finished laughing when he raised his claws high to cover his beak.
"Ravenclaw owls can't laugh like that..."
Once Sheen confirmed that everyone had left, he pushed open the door.
He carried three sweaters and a broom, and soon entered Ravenclaw Tower.
He no longer felt the cold wind blowing on his body, after all, he had a new sweater to wear, his first... third new sweater.
But later, Sheen discovered that it wasn't just that.
……
"The next turn will bring you there—"
A wizard with long, flowing red hair emerged from behind a painting; it was Fred Weasley.
"That's strange—how did Ron know that Green would be going there?"
A face identical to the one in the portrait was lifted, and George blinked.
"Unless he's a clock, he wouldn't be so meticulous!"
"That would have to be a paid clock... Si—"
Fred had barely finished speaking when he turned pale with fright.
"What snake are you imitating? Oh! A rattlesnake? Hiss... Professor Snape."
George stood at attention as soon as he finished placing the painting behind him.
Professor Snape stared at them menacingly, his wide robes billowing like dark clouds, and after waving his wand toward the secret passage, he strode away.
“Rare…truly rare…”
Fred stood there, muttering to himself, "We survived?!"
George touched Fred all over, then nodded slightly; the man was indeed unharmed.
"This is not right..."
Fred slapped George's hand away from his mouth.
"This is definitely not right..."
George took a step with a flourish, and the two moved forward amidst the noise.
They didn't even notice that they had an extra item in their hands.
……
End of corridor.
Sheen immediately noticed the hair that burned like orange flames, and Fred and George's steps always seemed to be leaping.
"Sincerely yours, two Galleons!"
Fred waved his hand in the air a few times, and finally gave a salute.
"But we almost died just now..."
George picked up the entire outfit, smiled, and shook his head.
"But once you accept the job, you assume all the risks!"
Fred took the boots out of the bag and stuffed them into Sheen's hands, filling his arms to the brim.
"wrong……"
George noticed the three sweaters in Sheen's hands this time, and he narrowed one eye.
"A sweater collector?!"
Before Sheen could speak, Fred immediately followed up:
"No discount!"
Let them talk, Sheen had no idea whether he could leave this place, so he put two Galleons in Fred's hand from his Seamless Extension Bag, thanked him, and turned to leave.
“He has a seamless stretch bag! Did you see it, George?”
"If I hadn't been bitten blind by a rattlesnake... I mean, we would have done so much more business with him!"
When Sheen returned to his dorm room, he realized that he didn't seem to need to choose a sweater anymore, because right in the middle of all the clothes was a pure black sweater with a green collar.
For no apparent reason, Sheen thought of the pair of gloomy black eyes at the cellar entrance, and sure enough, he found a note among them:
【wear】.
As always, it's brief.
Once outside the Ravenclaw Tower, Sheen no longer reacted to the cold wind; his mind was filled with a meticulously planned schedule of spells.
He has already mastered the basics of whispered incantations and is not far from becoming an expert.
The only one that was somewhat difficult was the Disillusionment Charm, which was the most complex spell Sheen had ever learned, as evidenced by Professor Flitwick's notes.
The Whispering Incantation was written in three paragraphs, but the Disillusionment Incantation was a full ten pages long, covering everything from history to details.
Looking at the proficiency of [Illusion Spell: Unlocked (0/30)], Sheen's eyes became even more determined.
Although a blue-level talent makes it difficult to learn the difficult Illusion Spell, don't let yourself succeed in practicing it even once.
With one successful case, Sheen can turn it into thirty through the panel.
When Shin reaches the apprentice level in magic, he will gain new insights.
—The idea of getting stronger through cumulative improvement doesn't believe in talent.
The cold wind of October not only howled in the corridor, but even the fireplace in the classroom swayed for a while, although Mr. Owl's "coo" would make the fireplace much more intense again.
Justin and Hermione pretended to be busy, but they had actually been secretly glancing at Sheen, who was focused on practicing the Whispering Charm, for quite a while.
Only Neville was truly taking good care of Bitten Vine.
