Chapter 245: The Rainy Season Has Just Ended
Chapter 245: The Rainy Season Has Just Ended
"Okay... okay."
Some whimsical ideas flashed through Professor Quirrell's mind, but he still didn't ask anything. He simply carefully put the things in a box, concealing a hint of worry in his tone.
He was not knowledgeable enough to understand what it was, but since it was just a type of biscuit, how could he possibly compete with that magic shop?
As he spoke, people continued to come and go in Diagon Alley, and no wizard noticed the conversation.
"Professor, you seem to be lost in thought."
Sheen tilted his head back and said.
"oh oh--"
Professor Quirrell snapped out of his daze and handed a contract to Sheehan.
“Mr. Green, please take a look. The rent for shop number 77 Diagon Alley is five hundred Galleons a year.”
Upon hearing the number, Sheen nodded; it was lower than he had expected.
This is Britain's largest wizarding commercial street, where land is incredibly valuable, and rents ranging from several hundred to a thousand Galleons are quite normal.
The rent for the arcade was seven hundred gallons. In comparison, the rent here is even cheaper, though I don't know why it's cheaper.
It's probably too damaged.
After receiving the magic contract, Sheen did not sign his name immediately. Instead, he released a paper airplane and waited for his teacher.
After all, you can never be too careful when it comes to contracts involving magic.
Sheen gazed at the Transcendental Clothing Store. Professor McGonagall's stern features softened slightly as she chatted and laughed with the meticulously combed blond shopkeeper.
He breathed a slight sigh of relief; the handling of this matter had gone through some twists and turns.
Professor Terra eventually convinced Professor McGonagall by saying, "I haven't had a single disciple in seventy years" and "It's a tradition in the alchemy world for teachers to oversee their students' alchemy workshops."
Professor Terra, who received the message from Sheen, will arrive shortly.
Before that, Sheen had to complete another necessary task.
He took out a contract and handed it to Quirrell.
"Professor, please take a look."
Professor Quirrell accepted the contract with a somewhat bewildered expression.
The words "compensation" above stung his eyes.
He hasn't done anything paid for in a long time.
Last time, he even gave away his entire fortune.
"An annual salary of 1,500 Galleons—that's too much!"
Professor Quirrell shuddered.
“No, no, I don’t need this, Mr. Green. Quirrell isn’t an ungrateful wretch… at least not the Quirrell we know now… such a reward could hire far too many wizards…”
He never expected any payment, and even just now, when Sheen mentioned what they were selling, he had already prepared himself for a dismal business.
His health is slowly recovering, and given his abilities, it shouldn't be difficult for him to cover last year's rent and operating expenses.
Upon suddenly seeing such a high reward, he became extremely worried: would their shop be able to make a profit?
The contract gleamed in the sunlight; its contents were detailed yet simple.
The client, Sheen, is obligated to pay the agent, Quiro, 1,500 gold gallons and to provide the agent with a certain amount of magic potions.
Agent Quirrell is required to resolutely protect the interests of his client, keep the client's secrets, assist the client in conducting business, and must not conceal or deceive the client, etc.
This can be considered an equal arrangement for both parties: the client needs to pay a high fee, while the agent is expected to offer genuine loyalty.
"I only know one wizard who is best suited for this task, Professor."
Sheen said.
Quirrell's eyes reddened at Sheen's sincere request.
He hadn't received this kind of treatment in a long time...
Diagon Alley was bustling with people. It was just after the rainy season, and clouds were coming from all directions, with rays of sunlight flashing across the sky.
He had many choices; there was no death or fear. He could do anything and go anywhere.
He stood at the intersection for a long time, but signed the contract without even reading the requirements for himself—he didn't need to know.
“Professor, you haven’t read the requirements at the end…” Sheen said in surprise.
“Oh, no, that’s not necessary, Mr. Green.”
Because no contract could demand that he be more loyal.
A brief silence fell over the air.
Professor Quirrell looked at the dilapidated shop with deep concern.
A few seconds later, a figure with a brisk walk appeared not far from the shop.
"My disciple has chosen a pretty good location."
Professor Terra approached from a distance. She first knelt down beside Sheen, then carefully examined the magic contract before nodding to him.
"Professor Quirrell, it's a surprise to see you here."
Soon, Professor Terra started chatting with Professor Quirrell.
Although they were supposed to be chatting casually, neither of them took their eyes off Sheen.
What name are you going to give your alchemy workshop?
Professor Terra suddenly turned her head and asked.
"Fairy Tale Corner, Professor."
Sheen thought for a moment and then said.
"I should have guessed it sooner."
The professor ruffled Sheen's hair and then hurriedly left.
Sheen quickly said goodbye to Professor Quirrell and returned to the Transcendental Clothing Store.
At this moment, Professor McGonagall seemed to have just finished a shopping trip, and dragged Sheehan to buy some other gifts.
……
At the entrance to Diagon Alley, Sheehan and Professor McGonagall were carrying large and small bags. Then, the professor waved his wand, and they transformed into one small object after another.
"Apparition can be uncomfortable. Have something to drink, kid."
Professor McGonagall said.
Sheen nodded and waved his wand as well. A bottle of potion floated out of his bag. It was one of the many potions Professor Snape had given him, and it could effectively counteract any discomfort.
As the light and shadow distorted before his eyes, Sheen found himself amidst rolling hills and fertile grasslands.
At the very front was a crooked, several-story building with four or five chimneys on its red roof, which looked completely illogical.
But it's magical. After all, this is a hut built with magic.
Standing beneath the small house was a short, plump woman with a rounder figure. Her eyes were bright and clear, and she looked very kind.
"Professor McGonagall, I'm so glad you helped bring this child here!"
Mrs. Weasley thanked Professor McGonagall sincerely.
"Come on, darling, I heard you're very interested in our old, run-down house. That's great! You have a week to get to know it..."
Mrs. Weasley took Sheehan's hand and walked away, completely unaware of the fleeting, unusual glance Professor McGonagall gave them behind them.
Goodbye, Professor.
Sheen said.
“I’ll come pick you up the following week. Marcus wants you to know that he’s missed you for so long.”
Professor McGonagall has disappeared.
The humble dwelling is quite large.
A sign was stuck diagonally in front of the house, which read "Humble Abode".
Then came a crooked house pieced together from various rooms.
There was a dilapidated little stone house behind it, with some brooms faintly visible inside.
