Chapter 368-366: Telegram
Chapter 368, Section 366: The Telephone
The interior of the carriage looked like only one small room, but it was actually divided into several terrifyingly large rooms by the Seamless Extension Spell.
Sheen sometimes wondered if the Unseen Extension Charm, which was strictly regulated by the Ministry of Magic and mainly overseen by the Division for the Prohibition of the Misuse of Muggle Items, was just a trinket in the minds of powerful wizards.
The rules don't seem to have been made for them.
Recalling how Hufflepuff used to run around with a suitcase containing Thunderbirds, Winged Demons, Saccharn Venoms, and Obscurials, the death sentence handed down by the Magical Congress of the United States seems somewhat justifiable.
After all, this is not much different from carrying a nuclear bomb.
Without regulation, silencing evil can indeed destroy a city.
As the sun set, they set off.
Sheen could feel his seat vibrating, hear the dragon's triumphant roar, and feel his wizard's book swaying slightly.
Bai Yi jumped excitedly on Sheen's shoulders, while Tira clung tightly to Sheen's robe, afraid to let go.
"Takeoff!"
Mr. Scamander's voice rang out in front of him.
The ground on both sides and the buildings in the clouds sank down and soon disappeared from sight.
The carriage rose higher and higher, and a few seconds later, the entire Iphamoni Castle appeared below them, shrouded in mist and shimmering faintly.
"We need to fly all day."
Mr. Scamander explained to them in a low voice.
"I understand!"
Sheehan raised his voice slightly, afraid that Mr. Scamander wouldn't be able to hear him.
"Sit down!"
Mr. Scamander also gave a low shout, and then they shot straight into the low, cottony clouds, where everything became dim and blurry.
"Isn't it interesting!"
Professor Terra's voice suddenly rang out. Sheen looked left and right, and finally, following a unique guidance, he found "the professor" in a small mirror.
“How perceptive, my dear little Green.”
Professor Terra, now a size smaller, smiled brightly in the small mirror.
"The redesign of the two-way mirror is my latest project—but it's not perfect yet, and the cost is extremely high."
Sheen looked at himself in the mirror with curiosity, while Professor Terra watched him silently with a smile.
"I can learn..."
Sheen was about to speak.
"Of course, dear little Green, the inspiration for this creation comes from the concept of the 'telephone' that you and I discussed."
Professor Tara's serious face becomes kind and beautiful when she smiles.
"I will teach you everything I have."
……
The night grew deep.
A vehicle pulled by a dragon of fire streaked across the inky sky.
After meticulously recording every word the professor had taught him that day, Sheen solemnly began to review and revisit the material.
After all this was done, even Mr. Scamander fell asleep.
Sheen had many ideas in his head. The "Mirror" currently only had a single circuit and was very expensive. If he could find other suitable materials, reduce the cost, and increase the number of contacts, he might actually be able to make a telephone for the magical world.
As for why not just use a telephone—that's because Muggle creations always malfunction at Hogwarts.
After moving the modification plan to the top of the planner, Sheen naturally noticed the [Ravenclaw Coronet Mystery] at the very center and top.
This made Sheen pause slightly.
The light in his eyes deepened.
Fog rose.
In the hazy light, the black cat jumped down from the "Children's Home" sign.
At its boundary, many more wisps of mist appeared. Because these wisps of mist were connected to the black cat by a faint, almost invisible thread, the black cat simply called them "thread balls."
In this way, they can also be distinguished from those misty clumps of desire and temptation.
The largest of the added items was a ball of yarn named Newt Scamander.
Now, the black cat watched the ball of yarn drift towards it, thought for a moment, and then stretched out its paw. Soon, Newt opened his eyes at the boundary.
"It's so nice to see you in my dreams, lovely Bastet."
The black cat knew Newt was genuinely happy, and its whiskers trembled.
"Good evening, Mr. Scamander."
Do you look troubled?
Newt smiled shyly and leaned a little closer.
How did they figure that out...? The black cat was baffled but impressed.
Until it noticed its own busy wagging tail, it quickly pinned it down with a paw.
"I forgot something, something very important."
The black cat said, pressing its tail.
"Some magic might work a little...like Occlumency."
As Newt made his suggestion, he moved even closer.
The black cat's bright green eyes shone, but Newt's next words dimmed them.
"I'm sorry, I'm not an expert in this area either."
Newt said he was already getting close to the black cat's tail.
"Mr. Scamander, you seem troubled too?"
The black cat's sudden words caused Newt to pause slightly.
“Lovely Bastet, you have eyes that see through everything.”
Newt admitted.
"May I ask—?"
The black cat was quite interested; ever since Mr. Scamander started driving, Sheehan had noticed the worry between his brows.
It's not difficult to do that. After all, his time in the orphanage honed his ability to read people's expressions and moods.
A few minutes later, as Newt spoke of his worries as if chatting with an old friend, the black cat's whiskers trembled violently, and its tail broke free from its claws and swayed gently.
Mr. Scamander is worried about the share of the fairytale cookies—
"This is easy to solve."
"Before the fog rises," the black cat said.
Now it was Newt's turn to be surprised. He looked over with a shy, cautious, yet curious gaze. He only saw the black cat leap and disappear into the rising mist.
Don't worry.
Newt heard that voice for the last time.
So when he slowly woke up, he could only stare blankly into the distance.
He seemed to have underestimated the significance of this great figure.
Newt woke up in the early morning.
The train carriage was disappearing into the clouds. A few minutes later, it burst into the dazzling sunlight.
We entered another world.
The wheels flew over the soft sea of clouds, and under the dazzling white sun, the sky was bright blue and boundless.
“Lovely… Bastet.”
Newt murmured absentmindedly.
When Sheen woke up and opened the window, he felt as if he had entered a mythical dream.
This is undoubtedly a fantastic way to travel: sitting in a sunlit, fiery carriage, traveling through swirling, tower-like clouds, with a table full of a feast prepared by Will.
One can also imagine that they will soon descend slowly from the sky and land smoothly on the lawn in front of Hogwarts Castle.
So, in the clouds, Sheen began to record the duration of this dream.
Below him, New York was quickly left far behind, replaced by flat green fields, then vast purple swamps, villages with churches that looked like children's toys, and then a bustling metropolis with countless vehicles like densely packed colorful ants.
Sheen gazed out the window and slowly wrote:
[Ten minutes of rapid progress—what's the reason?]
