Chapter 291 Crooked ways
Lu Mingfei sat blankly beside the blessing in the Dragon Tomb Cave, his eyes fixed on a certain point at the top of the cave. He remained motionless for a long time, as if he would sit there until the seas dried up and the rocks crumbled.

It took him a long time to come to his senses.

He was still reeling from the battle.

That was an absolutely devastating and utter defeat.

Lu Mingfei considered himself to be a top-tier expert, not just in the entire border region, but at least in parts of Ningmgefu and Galid.

But in front of this outrageous [Rune Bear], he was like a baby who had just learned to fight.

At first, Lu Mingfei was full of confidence as he wielded his twin swords, relying on his unparalleled swordsmanship, abnormal physical qualities, and superhuman perception to fight it in the narrow cave.

Gradually, Lu Mingfei noticed that no matter how many wounds he left on the strange bear, it didn't seem to show any signs of weakness.

It wasn't until Lu Mingfei's [Dragon Bite] struck it hard once more, and the Rune Bear, despite its injuries, slapped Lu Mingfei into the wall, making him impossible to pry out, that Lu Mingfei finally realized something was wrong.

It turns out that hitting it himself didn't hurt at all, but every time Lu Mingfei was hit by the bear's claw, he would suffer multiple fractures and bleeding, and would have to drink a bottle of red Dettol.

Until the elixir, red bottle, and blue bottle were completely exhausted, and Lu Mingfei himself was also exhausted, this guy named [Runen Bear] had been hit by [Dragon Claw] three times, [Dragon Bite] twice, and even spit out two breaths.

It still had the capacity to leisurely escort him to see Marika.

Lu Mingfei sat beside the blessing, replaying the entire battle in his mind two or three times, and finally came to a disheartening conclusion:

No solution.

This isn't a matter of skill; it's pure numerical superiority.

Rune Bear's fighting style is simple and brutal, without any fancy moves. After a few rounds, he completely figured out its fighting style.

But so what?

Its strength, speed, and physique all surpassed his. Faced with such an absolute difference in strength, any technique seemed pale and powerless.

Lu Mingfei sighed deeply.

This bear brought back the sense of helplessness he felt in the coastal cave.

Perhaps this is what the Temple of Beasts believes in: the wildness that beasts should possess, and this wildness is fully embodied in the Rune Bear.

What should I do?
Lu Mingfei fell into deep thought.

Simply relying on rune enhancement has reached its limit, and continuing to grind monsters will not bring about a qualitative leap in the short term.

Devoting oneself to spiritual practice?

He quickly dismissed the idea.

This is not an opponent that can be defeated through short-term training.

So……

Perhaps we should consider some unorthodox methods.

Lu Mingfei immersed his consciousness into his own space and searched through it, ignoring the miscellaneous armor and weapons, and finally settled on one item.

To be precise, it's a bunch.

With a thought, a dozen or so exquisitely crafted arrows appeared out of thin air on the ground. The arrowheads were coated with some kind of pale purple substance, which gleamed strangely in the dim light of the cave, like some kind of peculiar pollen.

【Torina's Arrow】

[A sculpted arrow inspired by the image of a withered water lily. It possesses a powerful hypnotic effect that induces abnormal states.]

Lu Mingfei lightly touched the arrow, and a strange power quickly appeared in his senses.

Calm and peaceful. Just a little bit of overflowing energy was enough to completely soothe Lu Mingfei's mood.

But why does this feeling... feel so familiar?

Lu Mingfei frowned.

After a long pause to recall, he remembered that during the first ritual to tame Guior's consciousness, the old knight had given him a semi-finished secret medicine to help him through the ordeal.

Only then did Lu Mingfei understand why that bottle of secret medicine had such miraculous effects.

It turns out that their source is the mysterious saintess, Torina, whose power contains the extraordinary quality of soothing the soul.

Lu Mingfei stroked the uniquely shaped arrow in his hand, feeling the peaceful aura emanating from his fingertips, and a bold idea gradually took shape in his mind.

“Since a head-on confrontation won’t work…” he muttered to himself, his gaze drifting into the depths of the cave, “then I’ll try something softer.”

He carefully recalled every detail of the crushing defeat he had just suffered.

Although this giant bear is incredibly powerful, its range of activity seems to be limited to the area illuminated by the sunlight.

"I just need to finish exploring this cave; it's not like I have to fight it to the death."

Lu Mingfei weighed the arrow in his hand:
"Since Torina's power can help me calm down a part of the Mother of Dragons' consciousness, it should be enough to deal with a bear, right?"

This plan sounds a bit far-fetched, but upon closer inspection, it is quite feasible.

Although the giant bear is overwhelmingly powerful, its behavior pattern is simple. As long as you keep your distance, you can use a bow and arrow to cast a hypnotic effect from a distance, and it may not be impossible to succeed.

He carefully put away the arrows and rearranged his equipment.

Lu Mingfei rummaged through the space, picked out a longbow of decent quality, and carefully placed the Torina Arrow in the most easily accessible spot.

Lu Mingfei took a long, deep breath, forcing his restless blood and surging dragon-eating power to subside.
After minimizing his presence, he slowly stepped into the area illuminated by the daylight.

Lu Mingfei tensed every muscle in his body as much as possible. He first lightly touched the ground with his toes to make sure that no small stones would roll, before slowly pressing down his entire body weight.

The giant bear was strode through its territory with powerful strides.

Suddenly, it stopped without warning.

Its massive head was slightly turned to the side, and its nostrils, covered in pale golden fur, twitched as if it were trying to detect any discord in the air.

Lu Mingfei's heart clenched.

He pressed himself against the wall of bushes, his chest rising and falling so faintly that he seemed to have become part of the rock.

Finally, the giant bear, seemingly not finding any definite threat, slowly turned its head back and continued its kingly strutting.

Lu Mingfei then slowly exhaled the breath that had been trapped in his chest.

He cautiously poked half his head out to confirm the bear's location and posture.

Then, with the lightest of movements, he took the longbow from his back and nocked the [Torina Arrow], whose arrowhead shimmered with an eerie pale purple light, onto the bowstring.

The bow was quietly drawn open, and the muscles silently gathered strength.

His sharp eyes were fixed on the pale golden fur that rose and fell slightly with each breath, calculating the distance.

“Alright, guys,” he thought to himself, “I give up on a head-on confrontation… Now, let’s try something different, let’s ‘play around’.”

On the arrowhead, the pale purple substance seemed to sense his power, and its faint light flowed even more actively.
