Chapter 13

The next planet the little prince visits is inhabited by a drunkard.

The little prince visited this planet for a very short time, but this visit made him very sad.

"What are you doing?" the little prince asked the drunkard.At this time, the drunkard was sitting there silently, with a pile of wine bottles in front of him, some filled with wine, and some were empty.

"I'm drinking," replied the drunk gloomily.

"Why do you drink?" asked the little prince.

"To forget," replied the drunk.

The little prince began to feel sorry for the alcoholic.

"What are you going to forget?" asked the little prince.

The drunkard lowered his head and confessed, "To forget my shame."

"What are you ashamed of?" The little prince wanted to help him.

"I'm ashamed that I like to drink," said the drunkard, and stopped.

The little prince left in bewilderment.

During the journey, he thought of the drunkard and said to himself: "These grown-ups are really strange."
