Early that morning Micah and I finished packing the sleigh, Silvermane and his horse Ash were harnessed in and ready to go. Norma and Jon were seeing us off outside.

"I packed you both a lunch, make sure to take your time the ice is still pretty thick in some places."

"We'll be careful ma."

"Take care of her son." Jon nudged micah.

"Yessir"

Giving Norma a quick hug I grabbed the satchel holding the egg and sat in my seat, Micah joined me taking up the reins in his hands. I situated the thick fur blanket over my lap, winter was ending but it was still freezing. The horses trotted confidently along the path, it would be too cold to camp out which meant we would need to find lodging. My palms became sweaty at the thought of Micah and I sharing a room.

"What are you thinking about?" Micah asked with a sly smile.

"What? W-why?"

"Your face is bright red!" He laughed.

"Oh my goodness! So embarrassing!" I hid my face in my hands, I could just die.

"Well, what has you so embarrassed?"

"When we get to town for the evening...How are we setting up for the night?"

"Hahaha you're worried about us sharing a room?"

"W-well..yes. Why wouldn't I be? People see me go into a room for the evening with a handsome man, what are they going to think??"

" You think I'm handsome?"

"Well of course you are! But that's besides the point."

"Don't worry what people think," He picks up my hand and places a kiss on it "Besides I'm a gentleman."

My face must've turned even more red because he burst out laughing before snapping the reins.

"Um wow..."

"Yeah wow indeed...wine? What was she thinking?" Micah was obviously embarrassed.

"It's kinda sweet." I placed a hand on his arm, "Let's eat."

We enjoyed a nice meal, enjoying our first actual conversation in a while. I didnt want to admit it but I was falling for him fast, this isn't what I wanted for myself. I wanted to get out and experience the world, to find myself. I was quiet the remainder of the trip to Vanderbilt, Micah secured a room for the evening and saw the horses made it to the stable.

"Ok what's wrong?" Micah questioned me once he got to the room.

"What? Nothing. I think I'm just tired." I faked a yawn, there was no way I could make this trip awkward, once our mission was over I could have a serious talk with him.

"Ok well get to bed and rest up, we leave again in the morning." He kissed my forehead and I found myself leaning into his kiss. This was going to be harder than I thought.
