A Race to Melt Hearts

I sit up, letting a yawn escape my lips, it's merely 3:00 a.m. in the morning but sleep hasn't spared me. What's so important with those papers? I wonder if it could be properties, since he wanted me to guard it with my life.

I abruptly stand and walk to the vault. I put the passcode, a few turns and wait for it to open. I took my pen with me and flip the folders containing legal documents.

I reach for my eyeglass as it feels like my head would break any moment from now. I found myself staring unbelievably at these documents.

• Properties of Ming Empire

• Details according to beneficiaries and gains per annum

• Legal tax returns

• Ownership documentations

Why is he handing me these?

My eyebrows are knitted deeply, trying to find a reason why he gave me all of these? What's wrong with him?

I need to see him.

Why did he want these properties to be transferred to me? It's like giving me everything that our family owned.

I run out of my room and immediately bombarded his room, no more knocks, I need an explanation right now.

But when I open the door, I can't believe that there's no one inside, everything's been neatly piled like no one stayed here at all. Then where is he?!

I run back to my room and pickup my phone, dialing his number. Or so I'll try till I locate his whereabouts.

Minutes passed, but it's still out of coverage area. Damn it!

I run downstairs and saw his body guard.

"Young mistress, young master met an accident... He..."

I abruptly stop and the keys I hurriedly pickup fell from my hands. My knees feel like jelly.

"What did you say?" I whispered, trying to stop my tears from falling. And prevent myself from screaming with all my might.

"Young master left the house right when he came out of your room, because he needed to travel away, but it's unfortunate that he met an accident. He's in Winterstill Hospital..."

My tears started to fall uncontrollably, I have no time to wipe it. I hurriedly pick the papers and ran back to my room to sign the legal documents. My brother needs me, and I needed to secure his will before I go.

I'll sign and recheck everything then lock it in the vault, with trembling hands I reach for my car keys and run towards the garage.
