A Race to Melt Hearts

We sneakily walk through the almost empty corridor. He insisted on walking in front of me, but I denied his musings as I am the one who holds a gun. I am a trained assassin so it would be easier to let me cover him, though my left arm is hurting.

I put an earpiece that was luckily attached through my belt, I forgot to bring my pouch so I'm sure it's right at the car park, unless the intruders already evaded my car.

"Mr. Lan, can you hear me?" I waited for the other line to reconnect.

"Loud and clear Madame" gunshots are firing back and forth from where they stationed themselves.

"Call up backups from platoon 7 and 9, I also need your team to secure the area. Aside from that let platoon 10 cover us, we're at the corridor, and I think I'll be running out of bullets by the time we cross this intersection."

"Copied Madame"

I breathe in, trying to concentrate upon facing such difficulty. He pull me by waste, so he's directly hugging me from the back.

He leans over.

"You called for immediate backup?" I could only nod.

"Come on, don't make a sound. We should leave till we reach the end of this intersection." I said

"It's too dangerous, we're outnumbered." He disagreed

"Leave it under my care"

"No, if something happens to you, I won't be able to forgive myself. Your brother--"

"I know" I tugged him with me, and we started checking the area, before we move to the starting point of the intersection.

"Duck!"

We hid ourselves from the thick bloody curtains. From there, we took a peak.

10 armed men, in masks whose dressed in black roamed the area. If my guess is right, they might have been looking for us. But who are they?

There's no insignia from what they wear, I can't even call it a daylight robbery because ordinary people and uninvited guests ain't allowed to enter.

Who are they then?

And why did they want to assassinate Mr. Yuan? @@
