Chapter 6

A Secret Between Two People

It is now July and it is in the middle of the summer.

A lot of students are wearing short sleeves or they are rolling their long sleeves as the summer heat is here.

A few days after the misunderstanding was resolved, Tachibana and I became closer.

When I entered the classroom in the morning, Tachibana who was sitting next to me said “Oh, Good morning”.

“Good morning”

We had become such good friends that we greeted each other when we see each other in the morning.

“I heard there will be a quiz in Math class tomorrow.”

“Seriously? I haven't studied at all.”
 
It's kind of weird. As I thought that there was no way that I would ever talk to Tachibana this way.

I never thought I would become good friends with Tachibana.

If someone told me at the first day I entered this school that Tachibana and I would eventually become good friends I would be surprised and I won't believe them.

I am happy that we became friends, but there was one thing I was worried about.

“Did Umezawa and the others said anything about me after that?"

At that time, after Umezawa tore up my painting I rebelled against her.

I haven't went to the gym since then and I am trying to avoid her as much as possible.

“I think she is still angry at you.”

All at once, my blood runs cold.

I knew it was a bad idea to go against her.

“Well, don’t worry about that, it's all right. I'll take care of it.”

Tachibana is so dependable.

I was relieved to hear Tachibana's encouraging words.

After school, I ask Tachibana to help me study for tomorrow's Math quiz.

Tachibana is very smart. She said that didn’t study yet, but I’m sure that she should be fine even without her studying for the quiz.

There is no one in the classroom but me and Tachibana. It reminded me of the time on the rooftop.

A gentle breeze was coming in through the window and the sunset was really beautiful.

“Hey, are you listening to me?”

“Oh, I’m sorry”

The tone of Tachibana's voice has recently become gentler.

Before, she would have said, "Oi! Did you hear me?".

I guess this is thanks to the fact that we have become friends.

When suddenly.

“Kyoko! What are you doing here, I thought you weren't coming at all?"

I heard a voice calling Tachibana from the entrance of the classroom.

It was Umezawa and her friends.

“You!"

When Umezawa saw me and she glared at me with her sharp eyes.

“Oi, oi, what are you doing here?"

Umezawa is approaching me while a glaring.

“I haven't seen you since that time, right?"

She still seems very angry.

A chill runs down my spine as I feel as if he is about to lunge on me at any moment.　

Suddenly, Tachibana pulled me and put her arm around my neck

She was so close to me that I was so nervous.

“I was letting him do my homework.”

“Is that so? then that’s fine! I will beat the hell out of him after that."

Maybe Tachibana is covering for me so that I won’t get beaten up by them.

“Also, I’ve decided that this guy is exclusively for me.”

It’s the first time I heard of that.

“Hmm”

Umezawa glared at me then said “Well, Kyoko let’s go and let’s leave that guy there alone.”

Ah, I was saved.
 
It seems that they think I’m Tachibana's exclusive errand boy and because of that they will have no choice but to leave me alone since they can't touch me.

Tachibana left the classroom with Umezawa and the others.

Before leaving the classroom, Tachibana waved her hand so that only I could see it.

I also gave a small wave to Tachibana.

They didn’t know about our relationship and I was somewhat happy about that.
