As The Wind Blows Your Scent To Me
Chapter 253 - I Don't Know Either I Should Be Mad At You Or Not
Kazuya had never thought a day he felt his tiny girlfriend could appear bigger than himself and exude a mountain high pressure would come.
Today was the day.
The air inside the office was stagnant.
Kazuya sat on the couch with both hands on his knees. He quietly looked at Himari who was standing opposite him with eyes scrutinizing him from head to toe.
Ugh...
Why did he be so forgetful to not remember that Himari would come this afternoon?
Kazuya inwardly blamed himself.
Before lunch hour started, Sayuri made an appearance under a guise. She claimed she came as a representative from a company that Kazuya collaborated with. The new receptionist let her into his office.
To avoid making a ruckus, Kazuya waited until almost all of the staff went out for lunch.
"Why don't we go for lunch together? The restaurant that we always frequented before is still in the same place. Let's chat over lunch, en?"
Sayuri didn't show that she listened to what Kazuya had said countless times before as she boldly invited him for out. She softened her voice as she did so.
"Get out," answered Kazuya as he restrained himself from shouting.
"Why? Are you afraid that your new girlfriend would be mad at you? I'm more than happy if she left you over this petty matter. It'd show that she's not really serious about you."
Enraged because of Sayuri badmouthing Himari, Kazuya erupted in anger.
The content of what happened next was just the same. Kazuya was thoroughly annoyed by now but, before he could successfully chase Sayuri out, Himari was already here.
"Is that woman your ex from three years ago? She's beautiful."
Kazuya got flustered by how straightforward Himari asked about Sayuri. She had even emphasized her tone when she mentioned ''your ex' and 'beautiful'.
Did he already dig a bottomless pit for himself?
"Cough... She's indeed my ex," answered Kazuya quietly, "But, you're more beautiful than her, sweetheart."
Himari pursed her lips. She kept eyeing her man with keen eyes.
To be honest, Himari was so shocked to witness the scene earlier.
Just from a few words said by Kazuya, she deduced that the young woman was his previous lover. Kazuya had told her before that he used to have a girlfriend until three years ago.
From what Himari had seen, Kazuya might be embroiled in the same situation as her, like the one when Jun kept on chasing after her, demanding to be together again.
Although Himari was annoyed, she knew it wasn't Kazuya's fault but...
Couldn't she vent out a bit on her man?
Kazuya didn't realize that he shrank his neck when Himari suddenly moved. She was walking toward him.
Err... Did she get so mad?
Under Kazuya's perplexed eyes, Himari grabbed his shoulders before she sat on his lap. The cushion sank further due to the additional weight. With both hands encircled his neck, she kept looking at him with narrowed eyes.
"...sweetheart?"
Kazuya cautiously moved his hands to secure them around Himari's waist. Seeing that she didn't move away from his touch, he sighed in relief.
Was she mad or not?
If not, why did she suddenly be clingy like this?
As Kazuya was dreading the assumptions, Himari finally opened her mouth to speak.
"Since when did she pester you like that?"
Himari was wondering when did all this start?
Either Kazuya liked it or not, he still had to answer it.
In fact, this won't happen if he was being truthful with Himari from the beginning. It was justifiable if she was upset with him over this matter.
"...we accidentally met when I went for the business trip at City R."
Himari squinted her eyes, trying to retrace her memory.
"Oho? It has happened more than a month ago."
Did that woman come to see her man multiple times already?
Himari felt more annoyed as she imagined the scenes.
"Sweetheart, I've told her that I have a girlfriend! I've perfectly told her that both of us won't ever get back together again. Please... believe me?"
Kazuya anxiously held one of Himari's arms. His brows almost merged together due to his worries. The tone of his voice faded at the end of his sentence.
Himari silently looked into her man's eyes. She felt both sorry and funny to see him like this.
"Why you didn't tell me about her? Were you afraid I'd be mad at you?"
Himari softened her voice as she retracted her arms from Kazuya's neck. She placed both palms on his cheeks, gently cupping his face.
The weight in his heart lessened the moment Kazuya heard how she calmly was asking him.
"The first time I met her again, I wanted to tell you then... I forgot about it. She started reappearing last two weeks, I think, only then did I remember her."
Without a doubt, he had caused his lady discomfort by dragging this matter until she found it out by herself.
Tilting her head, Himari spoke honestly of what she was currently feeling, "Hurm, I don't know either I should be mad at you or not."
"Huh? Why?" Baffled, Kazuya asked her back.
"You forgot to tell me because you didn't think about her, hence, she's of no importance to you. But, at the same time, I'm annoyed too. Luckily, I didn't catch you two embracing."
"What! I would never!" Flustered, Kazuya shook his head vehemently.
Himari's eyes twinkled as she elaborated more, "You know, like the scene in the dramas? When the male lead caught his ex when she has almost fallen then, the exact scene was witnessed by the female lead?"
"...would you run away and fight with me later if that happened?" Kazuya asked in a dumb voice.
Himari smirked, "Although it's incidental, I won't be that generous to not feel mad even though it's not your fault. I might ignore you for a few days ah."
Kazuya was speechless. How could his lady think that far? Should he coax her to not always watch some sappy romantic dramas?
"Haa..."
Sighing heavily, Kazuya leaned down and pressed his forehead on Himari's shoulders. Her hands went back to snake around his neck.
The warmth of his breath fanned against her skin. He silently inhaled her scent.
"I really don't know what to do with you," Kazuya lightly shook his head, the tip of his nose brushed against the crook of her neck.
The remnants of heavy pressure that shrouding his heart dispersed completely.
Although he knew it was his fault for not being truthful, he was really grateful to her generosity.
Himari giggled. Her laughter felt so pleasant to Kazuya, reminding him of the sound of the softly rolling waves kissing the shore of the beach they went together before.
"Hehe, do you want me to really be mad at you? Hurm, maybe I should do that. I can see the efforts you put in coaxing me."
"Hey..." Kazuya laughed. He pressed a finger on her nose then lightly teasing her, "Do you wish me to get you gifts for that? New dresses and sparkling gemstones?"
"Instead of that..."
Himari's cheeks suddenly pinkened. Her words trailed off, confusing Kazuya.
"Sweetheart?"
Did she really want something?
He would try his best to get it for her.
Himari smiled shyly.
"Although we're not really fighting, I want a kiss of reconciliation."
In one second, Kazuya was baffled. In the next, he smiled meaningfully.
"I'm more than glad to give you one, or more."
With one hand moved upward, Kazuya gently pinched Himari's chin. Little by little, their breaths entangled before their lips found each other.
Unknown to Kazuya, there was a new seed of fear that sprouted in Himari's heart yet, she quickly nipped it at its bud, afraid of it growing without control.
It was fearful to think of the possibility of him going to anyone else, leaving her alone.
Although Kazuya had accepted her, it was hard to thoroughly wash out of the painful memories of her past.
"Kazuya."
In between their kisses, Himari breathed out his name. Her eyes were moistened, the redness of her cheeks added allure to her countenance.
"Yes, my sweetheart, Himari..."
Kazuya closed the distance between their lips again, sucking in her breath. Himari weakly pushed him back.
"...I love you."
She whispered the words.
He smiled, fingers brushing her cheek.
"I love you too."
He really, really loved this precious sweetheart of his.
He could say various reasons for him loving her but, he still couldn't fully explain his heart.
He just knew that she was too precious for him.
Every time she smiled and laughed, to him, they were more radiant than the summer sun.
After getting the fee of reconciliation, Himari didn't move from Kazuya's lap. She placed her head on his broad shoulders, one of her hands played with the small button sewn on his shirt collar.
Kazuya just let her play with it. He was more than happy to keep hugging her while she sat on his thighs.
Then, a breath of laughter escaped his lips.
"Why do you laugh?" Himari asked without lifting up her eyes. She poked on the button.
Kazuya grinned, "Hehe, it feels so good when I saw you facing her earlier. Sweetheart, you're so bold ah. I really didn't expect you could make her speechless."
Himari scoffed, "Humph! Of course, I have to show my sovereignty over you in front of her. If not, she'd think I'm someone she could trifle with! So what if she's taller than me, slender like a model? I'm cute oh being short."
Her answer made him laughed out loud.
How could she suddenly relate the matter to her stature?
Really, she was his adorable sunshine.
Her light shone on his flowing stream of life, calmly and gently touching his heart.
"You make it easier for me to hug you since you're petite," Kazuya tenderly coaxed her, fingers pressing on her cheek.
With his gaze looking deep into her eyes, he spoke with his lips hovered above hers, "Sweetheart, don't ever compare yourself with anyone. No matter what, you're the most beautiful and precious to me."
Himari blushed into another layer of red. Smiling sweetly, she captured another kiss from her man.
Today was the day.
