“She may have some powerful allies, but they can’t stay together forever. Our agreement still stands, Hera. I’ll help you take care of Wonder Woman; you just need to make room for me.”
He paused as he spoke, clenched his fist, and his eyes blazed with fury.
"Her death is imminent, I'm telling you."
Chapter 178 Secret
Kara really likes the feeling of space.
Darkness, tranquility, mystery, and, most importantly, a rare quiet. At least, that was the case when she wasn't intentionally activating her super hearing.
Two days ago, her brother Carl visited her at the café and, unsurprisingly, took a liking to it. He chatted with Carla for a while and said he would come often when he had time—after all, for them, getting here from the metropolis was actually closer than going to the convenience store downstairs for most people.
Carl recommended this wonderful place to her. He said that whenever he felt uneasy, restless, or lost, coming here to look at the endless starry sky and the Earth nestled among the stars would quickly calm him down.
Now Kara has arrived here as well. But the endless universe and the tranquil vacuum did not calm her down; instead, they made her increasingly inexplicably irritable.
because
"Oh, please stop, please stop, don't do it again."
Kara flew frantically around the Earth, so fast it was as if she wanted to drain every last drop of solar energy from every cell in her body. But when she calculated the time and glanced back, her superhuman vision instantly spotted the horizon, and against the sun, a flash of lightning seemed to be chasing her from within the sun.
Kara's speed was so fast that any aircraft on Earth could only look on in awe, yet it seemed far from enough. From appearing in sight to being overtaken, it seemed to happen in an instant. Shen You swiftly flashed past her, leaving behind a nonchalant remark.
"On your left."
Then, a flash of lightning streaked across the sky, and after overtaking on a bend, it sped off, continuing its circling of the Earth.
"Ugh! Please!" Kara angrily waved her little fist, left behind to inhale his exhaust fumes, or rather, his electric current.
After a while, the lightning returned from the opposite direction, circling back along the Earth.
"Stop reading, stop reading, stop reading," Kara prayed silently.
Then Shen You once again swept past her like a streak of sparks and lightning.
"To your left." This time, he even added, "Didn't you have breakfast? Slow snail?"
"Ahhh!"
Kara's face flushed red as she strained to fly as hard as she could. But the bolt of lightning vanished in the blink of an eye, disappearing before the Earth's eyes.
I don’t know how long it will take.
"You're way too fast!"
Back in the atmosphere, Kara floated beside Shen You, her face full of strange expressions.
"Were you that fast before?"
"Probably not. But it's not enough." Shen You rested his chin on his hand, studying the data he had just scanned. "And it feels like we're already approaching a bottleneck."
As his research deepened, he increasingly felt that it was difficult to continue accelerating. Of course, this was something he could have predicted beforehand. If his research on the Speed Force were likened to cultivation, then the improvement from scratch would undoubtedly be the most significant, and the higher the level, the more difficult it would be to make further progress.
"But why is that?" Shen You pondered. "Without a connection to the Speed Force, this is the fastest I can go? Is it because the light conversion rate isn't high enough? No, it shouldn't be an energy supply issue. It's because my research on the Speed Force isn't deep enough?"
“I think you’re already pretty good,” Kara interjected softly, idly playing with her long, slender fingers.
Shen You shook his head: "Not enough at all. I think it's because my understanding of the Speed Force is limited, and the upper limit of theoretical knowledge has locked out practical application. It will be very difficult to make a significant breakthrough in the short term."
Um? "
The two turned their heads at the same time, their attention drawn to the commotion below the clouds not far away.
A long string of flames stretched across the blue sky, the light seemingly igniting the clouds, making it appear as if half the sky was ablaze.
That was a fighter jet.
The engine roared deafeningly, like a wild beast breaking free of its cage. Smoke billowed from the cabin, swirling around the engine bay and the surrounding area, emitting a pungent stench. Sparks flickered in the engine area, the burning flames glowing a bright red, accompanied by the violent sounds of melting metal, and all the warning lights on the control panel flashed frantically.
The moment they saw the DNA of the family of the crashed plane, they were moved.
"May I?" But she still sought permission first.
"of course."
Shen You nodded; this was also a good opportunity for her to practice her skills.
Kara's face lit up with joy, and she immediately burst out with a "bang," accelerating to chase after the falling trail of flames.
"Your strength should make catching the plane a piece of cake, but there are still some things to be careful about," Shen You said, keeping his distance as he flew behind.
"I know, I know, we need to be careful about the pilots' safety."
Kara was eager to try his first independent mission. Before he could finish speaking, he rushed forward and grabbed the smoking wing.
Snapped.
She broke off the wing with her bare hands.
The plane, which the pilot had barely managed to keep in balance, was caught in the scorching airflow and began to spin, falling even faster.
Kara held up the half-smoking wing, her face stiffening.
".sorry."
Of course, although there were a few minor hiccups, overall it was a piece of cake for Kara now. Lack of experience just means a few minor troubles, nothing serious.
She caught the plane and landed safely, blew out the burning engine in one breath, and then snapped the cockpit roof window off with one hand.
“Are you alright, sir?” Kara asked the driver in a friendly gesture, extending her hand.
The pilot, still shaken and drenched in sweat, was almost hallucinating in the harsh environment. Looking up, he saw a beautiful young woman with flowing blonde hair, her petite and slender figure floating in the sunlight, her cloak billowing in the wind—it was like a dream.
I was stunned for a moment.
"gentlemen?"
Kara waved in front of him.
Then, helplessly, she turned to Shen You behind her and said, "Oh no, he looks like he's gone mad."
"Don't worry, my system scanned him, and the gentleman is perfectly fine."
As Shen You spoke, he landed on the rear half of the plane and raised his arm to scan the engine.
"I'm more concerned about the plane than that. Hmm, interesting."
The scanning light released from his palm quickly acquired a structural scan of the entire engine, which was then displayed as a 3D model on the interface in front of him.
"What's wrong with the engine?" Kara flew to his side.
"The specifics are unclear. But there's only one thing we're certain of right now: it didn't come from Earth."
"Huh?" Kara exclaimed in surprise, "Where did that come from?"
"That's the problem. Its design doesn't match the technological characteristics of any star system we know of. It's not in Brainiac's records, and there's no match in the technology of so many star systems in the Kryptonian database."
Furthermore, although the engine design is rudimentary, certain aspects reveal traces of an advanced civilization.
"you!"
The two turned around at the sound and saw a jeep driving up in the distance.
A female officer in uniform jumped out of the car and walked quickly toward them.
"Stay away from that plane, it's a military secret."
7500+ at midnight
What's so funny about Chapter 179?
"You are now in the air force control zone of the coastal city."
The woman stepped forward and said sternly.
"On behalf of the entire air force base and all its residents, I thank you for your assistance, but Seaside City is not a metropolis, and we don't need fancy aliens. Now, please leave."
Seaside City Air Force?
Shen You then noticed that they had unknowingly flown to the coastal city.
The pilot had already jumped down, ignoring the soldiers his superior had brought, and squeezed his way to Kara. This young pilot seemed to have good manners; he had recovered from the critical moment so quickly and was trying to strike up a conversation.
"My name is Augustus, the ace pilot from Seaside City." The young man spoke of his title with a hint of pride. "And you?"
"My name is Ka... no, it's Supergirl."
Kara almost blurted out his name without thinking. Thank goodness her super brain caught her in time. Otherwise, she'd definitely get a scolding when she got back.
"An ace pilot, huh?" Kara glanced at the smoking plane next to her and found it a little funny.
"Uh, this is a new model, and it's the first test flight. Accidents are inevitable." Augustus was a little embarrassed and scratched his head. "Test flights are inherently dangerous, and I already have a very low accident rate."
You wouldn't believe it, but before me, there was this guy, Hal Jordan. He was a real crash maniac; he really took a toll on Ferris Space's finances and logistics. That's why he was kicked out earlier this year.”
Shen You didn't say anything, but just listened silently from the side.
Hal was fired, so judging from the timeline, he should most likely be a Green Lantern by now.
The Green Lantern character is a bit of a mystery to Shen You. An ace pilot who transforms when he can't win a fight, he belongs to a large space peacekeeping organization, and his daily operations mainly involve dealing with space monsters and alien invaders.
If you put these elements together and arrange them, you'd probably think he's a civil servant instead of someone who collects rings.
Even the title of "ace pilot" is a perfect tribute. To be honest, any plane that HAL flew that was ever shown on camera either ended up as a spectacular firework in the sky or was used to clear land. Its only purpose was to serve as a Green Lantern launcher.
Of course, if Shen You were to say it, the Green Lantern Corps' country bumpkins are still no match for the classic deadly driver, New Town. After all, New Town's teammates can even flip bumper cars at an amusement park, so in terms of the applicability of his vehicle killer talent, he's already won.
"Are you in cahoots with that alien from Metropolis?"
The female officer glanced at Kara's breasts, which were distorted by her well-developed breasts, and frowned.
"We know each other, but we're not exactly friends. Hmm?"
Noticing that the other person was staring at her chest, Kara subconsciously looked at the seemingly quite broad chest under the other person's uniform, and then involuntarily exclaimed "Wow!"
"Oh my, what happened there? Why are you stuffed with so much weird silicone?" Kara asked in surprise. "Doesn't it feel uncomfortable?"
The female officer's face immediately turned ashen. But before she could say anything, Shen You coughed twice to interrupt, "Sorry for intruding on your flight schedule. We'll leave now."
With that, he pulled Kara along and they took off into the air.
The female officer turned around with a gloomy face and found that the soldiers following behind her were all trying hard to suppress their laughter.
