"Thank you."

Hal grasped his hand and stood up, ready to regroup and charge again, when suddenly he paused.

I realized something was wrong.

He slowly turned his head to look at Shen You, who was standing beside him as if nothing had happened, and the green lantern that was now empty not far away.

His expression became quite interesting again.

He pointed at Shen You: "How...how did you get out?!"

Hal looked at the ring on his hand, then at Shen You, and then at the robot hunter beside him, and began to question his existence.

What's wrong with this damn ring today?

Scanning for an alien yields no results, scanning for a robot yields no results, going up to fight results in being easily defeated by the robot, turning into a cage that's like a public toilet where anyone can come and go as they please.

No.

Am I wearing a fake ring today?

Chapter 182 No One Can Escape the Machine Hunter

No one can escape it.

The robot hunter continued its actions. The robot raised its palm and pointed it at the two of them, unleashing a surge of red-hot energy.

However, Shen You nimbly dodged the impact by leaning back, and an energy barrier was immediately released from the Halden Ring to block the attack.

"You're being too arrogant, robot!"

Hal roared, his green light intensifying as he leaped forward. He slammed his head into the robot's abdomen, propelling it forward against the machine's entire body.

The warehouse walls were easily pierced like cardboard, and Green Lantern and the robot hunter wrestled and soared into the air. Shen You followed leisurely behind, seizing this rare opportunity to scan and collect data.

The Green Lantern ring it uses originates from willpower, which in the DC universe is part of an immense energy system called the "Emotional Spectrum." Different colors in the Emotional Spectrum correspond to different emotions of all intelligent beings in the universe, and this entire system is one of the underlying forces that constitute the multiverse.

It can be said that in order to truly understand the world and its constituent laws, the emotional spectrum is an indispensable key part. And this is Shen You's first opportunity to observe the practical application of the emotional spectrum up close, so he certainly wouldn't miss even a single frame.

Enveloped in a green light field, Hal fought back and charged into the air with the machine hunter, but his strength seemed to be consistently suppressed. He took a punch to the cheek through the shield, and blood splattered from the corner of his mouth.

But as he was repelled, he clenched his fist and swung it in the air. Countless green light particles condensed into two missiles above his head and exploded on the machine hunter's forehead at almost zero distance.

The robot hunter's outer shell cracked, sparks flying. But it didn't stop, retaliating with a high-heat beam. Hal's force field on his left arm was chipped, and his arm was slightly burned. He groaned softly, but the green light continued to conjure a Gatling gun in his hand, unleashing a burst of high-speed bullets that ricocheted off the robot.

By this time, the base's alarms were already blaring, and the staff on duty were in an uproar. However, this level of combat was practically a battle of gods for them, leaving them with little room to intervene. A small green man and an alien machine were fighting in the night sky in a spectacle of light pollution, with dazzling weapons and laser effects filling the sky, and the continuous explosions sounding like two armies exchanging fire at full power.

The two sides grappled and exchanged fire all the way from the base to the deserted wilderness. After a final, thunderous barrage, a green light swooped down and crashed into the ground, creating a huge crater.

"Uh..."

Hal covered his head and climbed out of the pit, his vision blurring.

"Damn it, this weird machine, the firepower I've channeled into it should be enough to blow up an entire city," Hal muttered. "Fine. If that's the case, let's give it some more. I refuse to believe it won't explode."

The green light ring mercilessly reminds you: "Energy level less than 20% remaining."

"What!?" Hal looked at the light ring in surprise. "It was fully charged when I left this morning! This is impossible, it's only been playing for a short time?"

"An abnormal, significant energy loss has occurred during the battle," the Lamp Ring reported. "It's suspected that the enemy possesses a special method to absorb the energy of the Lamp Rings. We recommend a temporary retreat."

The machine hunters followed closely as they fell.

"No one can escape the machine hunter."

Hal frowned, the light on his clenched fist shining even brighter.

"Sorry, the word 'retreat' doesn't exist in my dictionary," Hal shouted, raising his fist. "Isn't the Lamp Ring driven by willpower? Then as long as my willpower is strong enough that it can't absorb it!"

He roared and unleashed another burst of energy. The massive green energy struck straight at the machine hunter, creating a terrifying vortex.

But after the green light, the machine hunter still stood, its eyes now turning green.

"Energy level less than 10%," the light ring warned.

"Let's do it again."

But he ultimately failed to fire the next shot.

In a split second, the machine hunter's chest was pierced.

So fast it was like teleportation, flashing behind the machine hunter like an afterimage. The steel hand pierced straight through the heart with a "Black Tiger Strike" move, going from the back to the chest, with a burst of electricity and sparks as it came out.

It is Shen You.

A lot of data has been collected. I was originally thinking of seeing if Hal had any other tactical strategies, but then I thought, if he could have strategies, he wouldn't be Hal the Second.

In short, Hal's tactics can be summed up in one word: recklessness. Today, I, Green Lantern, will either be a reckless brute or a cook. As the saying goes, brute force can produce miracles. If I can't get past the enemy, it just means I didn't go all out. I'll just have to unleash my willpower and that's it.

To put it in a more fantastical way, this is somewhat close to the concept of Dao heart. For Green Lanterns, who are driven by willpower and courage, recklessness is their Dao heart. If they were to actually use their brains and employ roundabout tactics, their Dao heart might waver, affecting the driving force of the Lantern Ring and causing their realm to plummet.

He can often get through things by relying on him, but there are also quite a few times when things go wrong.

For example, right now, the Green Light Ring is clearly countered by its elemental advantage.

From Shen You's perspective as an observer, it's clear that this robot hunter is far less powerful than a Green Lantern ring. Its ability to suppress Hal is entirely due to elemental advantage.

Some people have made specific modifications to this robot hunter. Its principle is roughly similar to the "Energy Wand" used by the classic Green Lantern villain "Black Hand" in his early criminal career, which can absorb the energy of the Green Lantern ring and any creation conjured by the ring.

Special weapons for Green Lantern.

So Shen You seized the opportunity, flashed forward, and ripped out the heart of the machine hunter.

"Energy core damaged, backup power activated."

But the machine hunter was still struggling, its head mechanically twisting 180 degrees to lock onto Shen You.

"No one can escape the machine hunter."

Shen You pulled his arm out, grabbed the arm that the machine hunter was swinging, and kicked it sideways.

The powerful kick sent the robot staggering backward, and the arm that Shen You had been holding firmly in his hand was instantly torn off from the robot's body with a crackling sound, dragging along wires and an unknown liquid.

"Nobody's here. *sizzle*"

The machine hunter, whose heart had been ripped out and whose arm had been severed, turned around and was still diligently repeating his lessons.

Shen You picked up the severed half of the arm and hit it home run over the head.

Bang.

The hunter's head was severed on the spot by his tremendous force, rolling to the ground amidst sparks, struggling for a moment before finally going out.

Hal fell silent.

Shen You defeated the robot in about three seconds, he counted in his mind.

Yes, the ring I was wearing today was indeed a fake.

Shen You bent down to examine the wreckage of the robot hunter. Hal stepped forward and asked, "I've heard that some superheroes have recently started appearing on Earth. Are you one of them?"

Shen You glanced at him.

"You must not have been watching the news lately, right?"

Shen You thought he should be quite well-known, while Hal acted as if he had never heard of him.

“No.” Hal scratched his head. “Actually, I only got back the day before yesterday. I was in space the whole time before that. Well, sorry, I was just on official business. If my questions were a little harsh…”

"It's alright, I understand." Shen You waved his hand magnanimously.

Who isn't a family of peacekeepers in the universe?

The sight of a robot capable of absorbing the energy of the Green Lantern Ring and revealing no information about it made Hal quite nervous, especially since it was clearly designed to target the Green Lantern Corps. Therefore, Hal hurriedly flew away, saying he needed to return to Oa to question the Guardians.

Shen You unceremoniously collected the remains of the machine hunter. The technology it contained, especially the emotional spectrum technology that could absorb green light energy, intrigued him. Studying the emotional spectrum from it might be a good starting point.

Of course, there was one more thing before heading back home.

Re-entering stealth mode and accelerating, Shen You passed through the wall back to the air force base. Alert had been issued and the area was under tight security, but this did little to prevent him from freely entering and leaving.

Shen You went directly to the server room and connected to the internal server.

“Download all the data about how they found this ‘machine hunter,’ the research results on the machine hunter, and all the data including the ‘X-2020’ project, and then delete all the relevant data on the server.”

Pal said briskly, “It’s no big deal, sir.”

“Then Agent Mike Williams of the Sky Eye Society had another mission to report,” Shen You said. “He discovered that the Seaside City Air Force Base and Kirkt Aerospace Corporation were conducting unauthorized extraterrestrial technology research projects.”

According to regulations governing paranormal activities, Sky Eye has the authority to halt the investigation and confiscate all research findings. Remember to write a detailed investigation report for Agent Williams.

"No problem, sir."

Chapter 183 Do you know each other?

Thanks to Agent Mike Williams' efforts, the SkyEye Society investigated and halted the Coast City Air Force's unauthorized and dangerous technology research. All related projects were cancelled, facilities were taken over by the SkyEye Society, and research materials were confiscated.

Hal Jordan's former superior, General Shi Dong, was not spared from blame, while Senior Agent Mike Williams received another commendation. Shen You estimated that with another major achievement or by pulling some strings, Agent Williams' promotion to the management of Sky Eye would be just around the corner.

Then, some interesting little incidents occurred during the actual implementation process.

After the project was halted, during the investigation into the illegal research, the Haibin City Air Force insisted that all relevant materials had been handed over to FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope), while FAST maintained that it had not received them, arguing that the other side was refusing to cooperate. Both sides stuck to their positions and refused to concede, resulting in a tug-of-war.

Of course, neither side knew that the focus of their dispute, the robot that was suspected to be from an advanced civilization, was now hanging in Shen You's laboratory.

Through the copied data, he roughly understood how Seaside City acquired this machine hunter. There wasn't much to say; this thing simply fell from the sky, sometime last year. After landing, it was basically in a malfunctioning state. The Air Force towed it back from the wasteland where it landed, until recently, for some unknown reason, it was suddenly activated again.

But now Shen You is certain that it is beyond repair. Physically.

He reviewed the research reports from the so-called experts at the Air Force, and unsurprisingly, they were all worthless. But you couldn't really blame them; after all, they weren't products of the same industrial system. The robot hunters were, after all, creations of those little blue guys from Oa, and this particular one seemed to have been modified by someone unknown, making its technology far ahead of Earth's. Aside from overpowered individuals like Old Bat and Levi, ordinary experts really couldn't figure out anything.

Just as Shen You had expected, the design of this machine hunter truly broadened his horizons, and he began to understand how to weaponize the energy of the emotional spectrum, and how to design and utilize it. None of the technologies in the star systems Shen You had previously studied had ever touched upon this area; it was as if a door to a new world had been opened for him.

But he soon realized that a crucial part was missing.

That is, how to connect to the emotional spectrum.

Although this machine hunter has been modified to store and utilize Green Lantern energy, classifying it as an Emotional Spectrum weapon, it lacks the link to draw energy from the Emotional Spectrum itself. It can only absorb energy released by other Spectrum users and use it to retaliate against its opponents.

If Shen You wants to design a "Reverse Lantern Armor," then that is indeed a very advanced technology. But if he wants to learn how to apply this basic energy in the universe, then he will need more references.

"We still need to find a lamp ring." Shen You pondered, looking at the content displayed on the screens surrounding him.

“It seems so, sir. I’ll make a note of it,” Parr said. “Also, the prison where the former CEO of Kirktar Aerospace is being held has been located. Would you like me to arrange a meeting?”
