Early 21st century:
Takashi Arasaka (the eldest son of Saburo Arasaka), the third-generation head of the Arasaka family, married a Japanese-American woman. In 2008, they had their only fourth-generation member of the Arasaka family, Saburo Arasaka's granddaughter.
To show respect for his third stepmother, Michiko, he named his daughter Arasaka Michiko.
2000:
The "Wasting Plague" broke out.
An unknown bacterium infected people in the United States and Europe, causing intestinal disorders that led to a constant feeling of hunger and constant eating, but ultimately resulting in death from starvation.
It is worth noting that there were first cases of the "wasteful plague" as early as 1999, but the US authorities controlled by the "Big Four" ignored the problem, which led to the US not really discovering the situation until 2000. Johnny Silverhand also enlisted and participated in the war, full of ambition and volunteering to defend his country. However, he witnessed the corruption of the authorities, which led him to desert and sparked his idea of overthrowing the system.
The "Big Four" planned to reorganize because of this war, but suffered a crushing defeat.
2004-2005:
In 2004, cloning technology successfully replicated biological tissues;
The CIA and the U.S. Army completed the reform of the "Big Four";
The EU underwent reforms due to a major scandal, which also led to the inclusion of more European countries.
In the same year, the "First Corporate War" broke out.
European Commercial Machines (EBM) planned to acquire the bankrupt Transworld Airlines, but the latter did not want to sign the contract and instead discussed a merger with Orbital Air.
Upon discovering this, EBM hired terrorists to sabotage the negotiations. However, after learning that EBM was behind it, Orbital Aerospace also hired Zetatech to launch a hacking attack, thus beginning a major battle that lasted until EBM's CEO was captured.
This incident led to a situation where many companies would hire different professional firms to wage all-out wars in order to compete for resources and business vision.
The company's actual possession of national-level military power has begun to expand.

This angered Pedro Petrochemical, so both sides used their connections to send troops from many Pacific nations to fight in the South China Sea. In the end, at a heavy cost, Suspot Petrochemical won and gained control of the mining rights in the South China Sea, but also began to compensate the countries that fought for it for their losses.
However, the more significant loss was that the oceans were polluted as the primary targets of the attacks were both sides' oil refineries, and no life was seen in the oceans of the combat zone until 2020.
2007-2010:
The Maoist Loyalist Cabal's arrival in Hong Kong and their subsequent massacres of non-Chinese and Hong Kong dissidents prompted Arasaka's company to begin collaborating with Hong Kong triads to form a resistance army against the North.

The irreversible deterioration of the natural climate, coupled with the severe drought in Spain, led to conflicts over water resources. Fortunately, the EU prevented these conflicts from escalating into large-scale corporate wars, keeping them as small-scale conflicts.
Johnny Silverhand, the rock singer of the band Samurai, instigated the Arasaka riot in Night City, resulting in 17 deaths. This is the deadliest case of deliberate sabotage and violence by a rock singer to date.
2013:
The story of Cyberpunk 2013 begins with the death of Hirohito Showa, followed by the ascension of Emperor Shinhwa.
An Eastern country goes to war with an African country;
In Night City, a brilliant female hacker named Otto Cunningham, under the tutelage of ITS Corporation, developed a brand-new technology that could extract a person's consciousness from their body and transfer it into cyberspace.

The Arasaka Group discovered a large vein of rare metals underground at its training facility in South Africa. Local warlords claimed ownership of these rare metals, but the Arasaka Group completely ignored these claims, which led to several clashes between the Arasaka garrison and local armed forces.
At the age of 21, Yoriyuki Arakawa graduated from the University of Tokyo. His father, Saburo Arakawa, took him to his private office and told him in detail about the Arakawa Group. After witnessing how ugly the Arakawa Group was, Yoriyuki fell silent and disappeared from the Arakawa home after the banquet that evening.

The Third Corporate War has broken out.
The two sides in the conflict are Merrill Asukaga & Finch, an investment and financial information company jointly owned by Japanese, American and Italian investors, and the Rothstein Foundation.
In an attempt to counter independent investors, the investment financial information company used the Rothman Foundation as leverage, only to then notify the prosecutor's office to launch a related fraud investigation.
Dissatisfied, the Rothman Foundation hired hackers and arms companies, which led to information and physical warfare in order to destroy the enemy's investment facilities.
