Distant Love

Chris opened his eyes slowly, recalling what happened, he quickly sat up on the bed. He looked around the room, lights coming though the floor to ceiling window, the light reflecting on the perfect brown and milk coloured wall, art paintings everywhere on the wall, so decorative.

As he was in his daze, the door slowly opened and Sophie popped in, she stood at the door and didn't step further, he turned around to face her but she lowered her head looking at the floor. He walked up to her and stood still, not uttering word, he just stared at her. The immense silence was killing her conscience, her heart was racing, she couldn't take it anymore.

"Am sorry" but Chris still stood quietly

"Please" still not a word

"I had no choice" still quiet.

"Say something" she looked up at him. His face was emotionless, she couldn't tell if he was angry or not.

"Please Chris, say something" tears filled her eyes but he still didn't utter a word, just kept staring at her.

"Please, am sorry. I had to do it or else she was gonna kill..." she couldn't complete her sentence. Chris now put his hand on her chin and lift her face up "Kill who?", she shook her head saying nothing.

"You know i only have little or no trust for you left and you are still lying to me" he held her shoulder with both his hands. She looked in his eyes, it gave an aura of love, warmth and honesty. She took his hand and put it on her stomach then she looked at him "Kill him or her"

Chris understood what she meant, his eyes widened in shock and disbelief. He looked at her eyes, she was scared, scared of losing the life in her, she was scared of dying, she was scared of his reaction. Understanding her feelings, he pulled into his embrace and kissed her forehead, she laid her head on his chest and began to sob, he gently caress her hair to coax her.

Suddenly, someone standing at the door started slow clapping while grinning sarcastically "Now that the family reunion is done, lets get to business".

"You?" he furrowed his brows in disbelief.

James was listening through Chris's communicator and he heard him say 'Sophie', he called his name several times but no answer, so he got up and told Brock to guard Beatrix, he has to leave.

He followed Chris's tracker and found the island, it took just 40min to get to the location, he took his Smith and Wesson pistol, checked the bullet and but them his holster. As no one expected him come, there were less security guards.

James trained as a ninja when he travelled to Japan, that time he was 17, his stealth skills were far above Chris, he quietly sneaked into the Castle-like building in the middle of the island. He took out a small military PDA from his pocket and tapped it, it showed a blinking red dot "Gotcha".
