Meeting his new companion, Peter happily picked up the conversation: "By the way, your name is Gwen? I know a Gwen too. She was my classmate in high school. I mean, she was in the class next door. We saw each other in quite a few classes. Seriously, she doesn't look like you at all... Sorry, I digress, guys. I mean, my name is Peter Parker. Nice to meet you!"
Chapter 28 Spider-Man Assembles (Part 1)
"OK."
Gwen sat down on a bench by the roadside, her long legs slightly crossed, finding a comfortable angle: "So, where is your investigation at now?"
Peter: I did odd jobs all night.
Johnson: Shut up.
"Beneath Kingpin's Fisk Building lies a superscale large particle collider, the source of the Brooklyn earthquake and... well, the root of our time travel."
Johnson paused for a moment, realizing that he was probably just wandering in, but since even Peter Parker from the MCU was here, one more person trying to ride the wave wouldn't make much difference.
“So, your investigation is already ahead of mine,” Gwen said, resting her chin on her hand and listening intently. “Then what is our plan?”
“Reboot that machine, find a way to reverse its program,” Johnson said, making a fist bump with his hands. “Restore the order of spacetime, and then destroy it.”
"Wow! That sounds like a big event!"
"Wait a moment!"
Peter crossed his arms in front of his chest, making a stop gesture: "I understand the logic, but I'm still completely confused! Who is Kingpin? Why would he do this? And has the technology in this world reached the point where it can interfere with spacetime...?"
“None of that matters,” Johnson quickly interrupted the spellcasting, seeing Peter about to start his rambling again. “What matters is who among you knows how to operate that collider?”
The three people stared at each other.
Gwen raised her hand and said, "These large devices are often on physically isolated, independent networks. To hack into them, we need a key that can be inserted into the host." She then made a gesture of turning a key to open a door.
"So here's the question," Peter said, shrugging, "where's the key?"
Gwen crossed her arms and spoke of the intelligence she had gathered earlier: "I know a place that is also one of Kingpin's properties. I think that place can at least help us figure out how that big guy works."
"Wait, it's Kingpin again? I don't think I've ever heard of him in my universe, or rather, I've never even heard of him before. Can anyone tell me just how rich he is?"
Seeing that the two weren't very interested in the topic, Peter scratched his cheek: "Then what are we waiting for? Are we just going to wait for them to bring the keys over?"
Ok?
Reminded by Peter's words, Johnson suddenly realized that the Alchemy Company was probably in complete chaos right now, and he snapped his fingers: "You know what, you really shouldn't say that."
Peter: ?
Riddler, get out of New York!
"You wouldn't think..."
Gwen and Peter looked over.
"Are there only a few Spider-Men like us in this world?"
……
Hudson Valley, a suburb of New York City.
Amidst a barrage of laser beams, Miles, dressed in a Spider-Man cosplay suit, appeared to nimbly dodge left and right, but in reality, he had already fallen and gotten a head full of bumps.
The thrill of infiltrating the alchemy company is matched by the agony of being chased and beaten up by a bunch of researchers wielding laser guns.
"Hey Peter! What do we do now?"
"What do we do?" Peter punched the pursuing Doctor Octopus away, snatched the computer host that had been taken by the tentacles with a web, and tossed it to Miles behind him. "Split up, kid, I'll hold off the enemy for you!"
"Are you sure? But there are so many of them..."
"Nonsense! Let's get going!"
"Hehehe..."
The tough tentacles made of synthetic materials pierced into the tree and continued to climb. Doctor Octopus raised his hand to wipe the blood seeping from the corner of his mouth. His eyes behind his goggles were full of obsession and madness: "You are the best research material. None of you will escape!"
"**Shit! Sorry, I think I swore just now, but she's a superhuman! Don't just stand there, kid, let's go!"
……
Queens, New York.
The three of them strolled along the streets of an ordinary neighborhood during working hours, where it was very peaceful.
Rows of two-story houses line the roadside, without courtyards, and you can see your neighbor's room just by drawing back the curtains.
This environment has been a part of many children's childhoods, for example...
“Hey, this is it! I recognize this place. I lived here almost the whole time before Aunt May moved!”
Peter exclaimed.
The three stopped at a detached house with a mailbox at the door that read "20 Ingram Street".
Johnson pointed to the text above: "Even the house number is the same?"
"Uh, let me think, at least the name of the community is different."
“Then we’ve come to the right place,” Johnson gave Peter a push. “Go knock on the door.”
"why me!"
Peter grumbled and, as was his habit, raised his hand and used a spider silk thread to ring the doorbell.
ding dong~
"Sorry, we're not meeting any fans today..."
The door opened a crack, and an elderly woman with gray hair spoke apologetically.
Then she saw a young face.
The old woman opened the door and walked out in disbelief.
"Peter..."
“Uh… I’m a little unprepared,” Peter MCU said, somewhat bewildered as the old woman walked straight toward him. For a fleeting moment, he remembered the figure lying in the ruins. “Aunt May?”
“It’s me,” Aunt May gently stroked Peter’s face, her eyes filled with a mixture of reminiscence and relief. “You’ve gotten younger, and you’ve gotten shorter.”
Peter, like a child who had done something wrong, gently hugged Aunt May in front of him: "Uh, yes... I mean, I'm sorry, it sounds a bit unbelievable, but I actually come from..."
"Another parallel universe?"
"Yes... um?"
Gwen and Peter exchanged a surprised glance: "You knew?"
“Of course,” Aunt May smiled, turning around and beckoning them to follow. “Come with me, children. You don’t think you’re the only ones who thought of coming here, do you?”
"Hey!" Gwen nudged Johnson with her elbow and whispered, "You knew all along?"
Qiao Sen remained calm and tapped his head with his index finger: "Just logical reasoning."
"Believe in you to be a ghost!"
The three followed Aunt Mei to a small hut in the backyard that looked like a storage room.
"Hey, I know this, the secret base!"
Aunt Mei chuckled and placed her hand on the wooden door.
After the identity verification was successful, the mechanical door disguised as a wooden door opened, revealing an empty storage room that was actually an elevator shaft leading underground.
"Perhaps this secret base is a tiny bit more advanced than I imagined..."
Peter couldn't help but sigh when the scene he had imagined, which should have been similar to his own little spider workshop, didn't materialize.
Johnson and Gwen followed closely behind as the elevator began to descend.
As the elevator slowly descended, Peter Parker's meticulously crafted Spider House in this world was finally revealed to everyone.
Chapter 29 Spider-Man Assembles (Part 2)
Some high-tech equipment that ordinary people can't understand, a complete mechanical workshop, all kinds of Spider-Man equipment, the most eye-catching of all are the Spider-Man suits with different styles and functions in the semi-circular display cases.
Upon seeing the surprisingly spacious spider base, Peter's mouth was practically watering.
He once possessed these cutting-edge technological devices; as Iron Man's successor, he had everything he had back then that was far more abundant than what he has here.
Unfortunately……
But all that is in the past. Even without external aids, he is still Spider-Man.
Aunt Mei clapped her hands, and the eyes of the three of them, including Johnson, turned to her.
She smiled and said, "Guys, it's time to welcome the newcomer!"
The spider senses of the three of them immediately alerted them, and they looked up following their intuition.
Three pairs of hunter-like eyes opened on the pitch-black ceiling.
Peter and Gwen were most familiar with it; it was shaped like a spider's eyepiece.
Three figures landed gracefully. Although they were of different heights, builds, and even races, everyone present was certain of their identities.
They are all Spider-Man.
