Chen Ran took the disc and saw the word "Top Secret" written on it. He was overjoyed, knowing he had finally found what he was looking for.
"Thank you," Chen Ran said. "I'll keep it a secret."
He quickly left the warehouse and returned to his car. He turned on his computer, inserted the CD, and began to examine the file contents.
The document contained a confidential report from Tianxiang Technology Company, detailing instances where senior management had engaged in illegal transactions using company resources. Chen Ran was shocked; he hadn't expected the document to involve the interests of so many people.
He realized the seriousness of the matter and decided to tell Hua Jiaming. He called Hua Jiaming and told him what had happened.
"Are you sure this document is genuine?" Hua Jiaming asked.
“It should be real,” Chen Ran said. “I looked at the contents of the document, and the details recorded inside are very specific. It doesn’t seem fake.”
Hua Jiaming was silent for a moment, then said, "This matter involves the interests of many people, so you must keep it a secret. I will have someone investigate the authenticity of this document."
Chen Ran felt a warmth in his heart, knowing that Hua Jiaming was a trustworthy person. He decided to entrust the matter to him while he continued his investigation.
The next day, Chen Ran went to Tianxiang Technology Company, intending to ask Li Ming about some things. He arrived at Li Ming's office, only to find it empty.
Feeling something was amiss, he asked a colleague nearby and learned that Li Ming had already resigned. Chen Ran was startled; he knew Li Ming must have known about his plans, which was why he chose to leave.
He felt somewhat disappointed, but he also knew that the most important thing now was to find out the truth of the matter. He decided to go and discuss the next steps with Hua Jiaming.
When Chen Ran arrived at Hua Jiaming's office, he found that Hua Jiaming was not there. He couldn't help but feel puzzled, wondering what had happened.
Suddenly, he received a call from an unknown number: "If you want to know Hua Jiaming's whereabouts, come to the South City Warehouse."
Chen Ran was startled and quickly drove to the warehouse in the south of the city. When he arrived, he found the warehouse empty. Just as he was feeling confused, he suddenly heard a gunshot.

He quickly ran towards the sound and found it coming from an abandoned warehouse. He quietly went inside and found Hua Jiaming being kidnapped by a group of people, with a towel stuffed in his mouth.
Startled, Chen Ran rushed forward and kicked one of the kidnappers to the ground. Seeing this, the other kidnappers drew their pistols and aimed them at Chen Ran.
"Who are you?" one of the kidnappers asked.
“I am Hua Jiaming’s friend,” Chen Ran said. “You’d better let him go, or you’ll regret it.”

The kidnappers ignored him, and one of them smashed his gun butt against his head. Chen Ran quickly dodged to the side and seized the gun from him.
He pointed his pistol at the kidnapper's head and said, "I don't want to hurt you, but you must release Hua Jiaming."
The kidnappers hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to release Hua Jiaming. Chen Ran quickly stepped forward and helped him untie the ropes.
"Thank you," Hua Jiaming said. "I was worried I'd never see you again."
“We need to get out of here quickly,” Chen Ran said. “These guys are not easy to deal with.”
The two quickly fled the warehouse and returned to Chen Ran's house. Chen Ran poured Hua Jiaming a glass of water. "Now we can talk properly. Who exactly did you offend?"
Hua Jiaming sighed, "Actually, I don't know much about it either. I just discovered some illegal transactions while investigating Tianxiang Technology Company. But I didn't expect this matter to involve the interests of so many people."
"What should we do now?" Chen Ran asked.
Chapter 68: I Don't Know His Whereabouts
“I think I know the source of that document,” Hua Jiaming said. “I used to date a woman named Liu Ting, who used to work for Li Ming. She once told me that Li Ming and other senior managers had a top-secret document that recorded some illegal transactions.”
"Where is Liu Ting now?" Chen Ran asked.
“She has already gone abroad,” Hua Jiaming said, “but I know how to contact her, so we can try to reach her.”
Chen Ran nodded. "This is a good lead. We can try contacting her and see if she can provide more information."
"550," Hua Jiaming took out his phone and started dialing Liu Ting's number. After the call connected, Hua Jiaming spoke to Liu Ting in English. Chen Ran couldn't understand what they were saying, but he could sense that Hua Jiaming's tone was becoming increasingly serious.
"How is it?" Chen Ran asked.
“She agreed to come back to China to see us,” Hua Jiaming said. “She said she had a more detailed document that could help us expose this conspiracy.”
“Then let’s go find her now,” Chen Ran said.
"No need," Hua Jiaming said. "She said she'd pick us up at the airport, so we can go directly there to meet her."
The two quickly drove to the airport and soon met Liu Ting. Liu Ting looked more mature than before; she was dressed in a business suit and appeared very capable.
“It’s a pleasure to see you again,” Liu Ting said in Chinese. “I know about the document you have. I have more detailed information here that can help you expose this conspiracy.”
“Excellent,” Chen Ran said. “We need this evidence to prove those people’s crimes.”
The three of them returned to Chen Ran's house together. Liu Ting took out a USB drive and said, "This is what I wanted to give you."
Chen Ran inserted the USB drive into his computer and began to examine its contents. He discovered it was a very detailed document detailing how senior management at Tianxiang Technology Company had engaged in illegal transactions using company resources, and even included evidence involving government officials.
“This document is very important,” Chen Ran said. “We can use this document to expose this conspiracy and bring those people to justice.”
“But you must be careful,” Liu Ting said. “Those people are not easy to deal with; they will do everything they can to stop you.”
“We’ll be careful,” Chen Ran said. “Thank you for providing us with such an important clue.”
“I also hope to do something for my country,” Liu Ting said. “When I left, I vowed to expose the crimes of those people, and now I finally have the opportunity to do so.”
Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming were both very grateful for Liu Ting's help. They knew the importance of the document and were aware of their responsibilities. They decided to hand the document over to the relevant departments as soon as possible so that those people would receive the punishment they deserved.
The next morning, Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming arrived at the headquarters of Tianxiang Technology Company. They planned to hand over the documents to the police and let them handle the matter.
When they arrived at the building entrance, they found it already crowded with people. They quickly went to investigate and discovered it was a group of protesters.
“Tianxiang Technology Company is a heartless company. We demand that the government severely punish those senior managers…” one protester shouted.
Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming exchanged a glance, both understanding that this matter had attracted widespread public attention. They couldn't let those people continue to evade justice; they had to hand over the evidence to the police as soon as possible.
The two squeezed through the crowd and arrived at the building entrance. They identified themselves and their purpose to the security guard, requesting to see the relevant person in charge of the company.
The security guard hesitated for a moment, but ultimately let them in. The two went to the top floor of the building and met the company's chairman.
“We want to see Li Ming,” Chen Ran said. “He is suspected of illegal transactions, and we have evidence.”
The chairman frowned. "Li Ming has already resigned. I don't know his whereabouts."
“We will find him,” Chen Ran said. “We hope you will cooperate with our investigation, otherwise your company will face even more severe penalties.”
The chairman hesitated for a moment, but finally agreed. He sent people to assist Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming in finding Li 2.5 Ming's whereabouts, and at the same time, he conducted a thorough investigation within the company.
"Mr. Chen, I think you need to take a look at this." A policeman handed Chen Ran a document.
Chen Ran took it and saw that it was an arrest warrant with Li Ming's name clearly written on it. It turned out that Li Ming was wanted by Interpol for suspected multiple economic crimes and murder.
“It seems we don’t have much time left,” Chen Ran said. “We must find Li Ming as soon as possible and bring him to justice.”
Hua Jiaming nodded. "I'll contact my informants as soon as possible to see if they have any news about Li Ming."
Chapter Sixty-Nine: Having connections in both the legitimate and criminal worlds
The two split up: Chen Ran was responsible for investigating Li Ming's whereabouts, while Hua Jiaming was responsible for contacting their informant. They knew this was a race against time; they had to find Li Ming as soon as possible and expose the conspiracy.
Several days passed, and Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming made no progress. They began to feel anxious and helpless, but they did not give up. They believed that as long as they persisted, they would eventually find Li Ming.
Just then, Hua Jiaming received a call from an informant. The person on the phone said they knew Li Ming's whereabouts and demanded a meeting to discuss terms. Hua Jiaming and Chen Ran immediately went to the agreed location and met the mysterious person.
“I know where Li Ming is,” the mysterious man said, “but you must agree to my conditions first.”
"What are the conditions for 05?" Chen Ran asked.
“I want ten million dollars, and a pardon for all my crimes,” the mysterious man said. “Otherwise, I will sell this information to other newspapers, so you will never find Li Ming again.”
Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming exchanged a glance, both understanding that this mysterious person might be the last clue. They had to make a choice: give up or continue.
“We agree to your conditions,” Chen Ran finally said, “but we must first see Li Ming and confirm his identity.”
The mysterious man nodded. "Alright, I trust you. But you must be careful; Li Ming is not someone to be trifled with."
The three drove together to Li Ming's hideout. On the way, the mysterious man told them that Li Ming was an extremely dangerous individual who had spent many years in the underworld and possessed extremely ruthless methods.
Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming both felt the pressure; they knew the upcoming operation could be extremely dangerous. But they had no way out but to forge ahead.
Soon after, they arrived at a secluded villa. The mysterious man told them that this was Li Ming's hiding place. Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming decided to split up, approaching the villa from the left and right respectively. They carefully avoided the guards at the entrance and successfully entered the villa.
In the dim light, they discovered it was an extremely luxurious residence, but a sense of oppression and danger permeated the air. They began searching for Li Ming's whereabouts.
Suddenly, a burst of gunfire shattered the silence. Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming quickly sought cover and discovered a man charging towards them with a gun. They swiftly returned fire, shooting the man down. However, they also realized that this was likely Li Ming's bodyguard or henchman.
"We must find Li Ming!" Chen Ran shouted. "He is the key."
Just as they were about to continue their search, a voice came from the darkness, "You've finally arrived."
Chen Ran and Hua Jiaming immediately became alert and noticed a man slowly walking out. He was wearing a black suit and black gloves, and had a fierce expression.
"You must be Li Ming?" Chen Ran asked.
“That’s right.” Li Ming sneered. “You think you can catch me? How naive!”
“We’re not here to arrest you,” Hua Jiaming said. “We’re here to collect a debt from you.”
"Collecting debts?" Li Ming was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Do you know who I am? I'm a big shot with connections in both the legitimate and underworld circles. How dare you come to me to collect debts?"
“Of course we know who you are,” Chen Ran said. “You are suspected of multiple economic crimes and murder, and we have evidence. If you don’t want to be wanted, you’d better cooperate with us.”
Li Ming's smile gradually disappeared, and a hint of fear flashed in his eyes.
"Do you think you can threaten me just because you have evidence?" Li Ming sneered. "I have nothing left to lose in this world. I'd rather perish together with you than let you get away with this."
