"So, we're going to tear up the script." Chenxi slammed her hand on the table. "I refuse to believe we can't even get out of this damn dream!"
"If we can't get out, we'll blow it up," Chu Mo added in a low voice.
“You’re still the same as before.” The little girl smiled, a glimmer of light finally appearing in her eyes. “She said that the five of you… are her last spark.”
Su Ting's heart suddenly pounded violently, as if something was about to awaken.
"Where is she?" Su Ting asked in a hoarse voice.
“She is in the place you have forgotten, in the deepest part of the Dream Keepers,” the girl said softly. “And you, you have already been marked by time.”
She slowly stretched out her hand, her five fingers slightly spread, and a faint golden light slowly appeared in her palm.
“When you step into that darkness, dreams will devour you… until only one remains,” she whispered. “The one who awakens is her salvation.”
Chenxi frowned: "What do you mean? Only one person can survive?"
“No.” The little girl shook her head. “Only one person can take away her memories.”
There was a moment of silence in the room.
Su Ting said in a low voice, "So... this is a sacrifice."
“It’s not a sacrifice, it’s a return.” She chuckled. “You were never meant to be like this.”
"And what about her?" Su Ting asked, "What is her... current condition?"
“She’s waiting for you.” Her gaze returned to Su Ting’s face, her tone softening. “She remembers you. She always remembers what you said.”
"What?"
She looked at him, a hint of pity and tenderness flashing in her eyes.
Chapter 1149 Unspeakable
"You told her—no matter what she becomes, I will find her and bring her back from the deepest part of my dreams."
Su Ting suddenly closed his eyes, and a loud bang echoed in his mind. Those originally fragmented memories began to piece together like pieces.
He finally remembered that she was the girl who greeted him with a smile and led him toward his destiny.
But her name was still lingering on his lips, unable to be uttered.
"What's your name?" he suddenly asked.
The little girl looked at him quietly, her lips moving slightly.
Outside the door, the bell rang for the fourth time.
A sound of footsteps, seemingly belonging to no particular time or space, slowly approached.
“A name is a shackle,” she whispered. “Once you call it out, I can never turn back.”
Su Ting slowly stepped forward and gently touched her forehead.
“I won’t let you turn back,” he said. “I want you to come with me.”
"Do you think you can get over this?" She looked at him, tears silently streaming down her face.
At this moment, Su Ting suddenly spoke up: "They've arrived."
All five of them turned to look at the doorway.
The door hadn't even opened, yet shadows were already emerging.
A figure dressed in a black robe slowly walked in, his face covered by a half-bronze mask. His steps were silent, yet each step made the air tremble.
"Su Ting, do you really think you've broken free?" The voice was hoarse and familiar, as if it came from some unfathomable past.
"It's you... Dream Guardian?" Dawn gripped her battle axe tightly.
"So what if she is?" The other person chuckled softly. "Who do you think she is? She is just a projection in your dreams, the last bit of warmth that dreams give you."
"Shut up," Su Ting growled. "I know who you are."
The masked man was taken aback.
A glint flashed in Su Ting's eyes, as if he had finally remembered something: "You don't belong to us... You are the judge of the Dream Guardians. You never belonged to her."
The masked man was silent for a moment, then suddenly pointed at Su Ting: "So, the first thing that comes to your mind is her death, right?"
Su Ting was deeply shocked.
"She transforms into a ray of light before your eyes."
"Enough!" Su Ting roared suddenly, his aura surging, as if an invisible flame was burning his will. "I don't care if you are dreaming or in reality... I am Su Ting. She is her."
He pushed the wooden table aside and faced the masked man directly.
"I only have one question for you right now."
His voice was icy.
Is there any hope for her?
The masked man raised his head slightly, a strange light flashing in his eyes.
“If you can get through the memory barrier she has set up, you can find her true self,” he said. “But you’ll have to ask her… whether she still wants to wake up.”
Su Ting was taken aback.
"What do you mean?"
The masked man chuckled: "Some dreams are hard to escape not because they trap you, but because... the dream's owner is unwilling to leave."
Chenxi cursed, "Bullshit! How could she not want to leave?!"
“Then let’s go in and take a look,” the masked man said softly. “She’s right there, waiting for you.”
“But you must remember,” he slowly pulled up his hood, “that her dream is no longer just hers alone.”
Su Ting turned around and glanced at his four comrades who had once fought side by side.
Su Ting nodded: "I'll go with you."
Chenxi grinned: "Let's go! I've been wanting to blow up this damn dream for ages."
Chu Mo only said two words: "I believe you."
The girl stood by the door, looking at Su Ting with tender eyes.
"Do you remember her?" she asked.
Chapter 1150 Darkness Surges
Su Ting closed his eyes and finally whispered the name that had been buried for so long.
Outside the door, darkness surged, as if the whole world was waiting for them to step inside.
"Which 'me' are you hearing now?" the girl asked softly, her smile gentle.
Su Ting took her hand.
"It's you. The only one I remember."
The night was as dark as ink, and the wind carried a hint of blood and decay.
“The Dream Guardian’s territory is not a place for ordinary people to set foot in.” The girl walked at the front, her feet stepping over the steps paved with withered bones. “Everyone who enters either falls into a deep sleep, never wanting to wake up, or becomes her nightmare.”
"So what about you?" Su Ting asked, "Which part of her do you belong to?"
The girl did not answer immediately, but instead raised her hand to brush away the mist in front of her. A ray of light emanated from her palm, as if lighting a candle.
“I am a part of her that she lost. Someone she didn’t want to bring into her dreams,” she said slowly. “And also the last part she couldn’t let go of.”
Chenxi whistled: "It sounds a bit convoluted, but I get it. You're her shadow?"
"I guess so." She smiled, a smile that seemed to come from a great distance, both illusory and real. "But she won't let me into her dreams... She's afraid I'll bring her back completely."
"Why? Why doesn't she want to wake up?" Su Ting frowned.
“She’s afraid to wake up,” the girl said softly, “because the dream was so wonderful.”
"Is a dream better than reality?" Chu Mo said in a low voice.
"Reality is too cruel." The girl finally stopped and turned to look at Su Ting. "Su Ting, she chose to stay for you. She has been guarding that scene in her dreams, she can't forget it."
Su Ting's heart skipped a beat.
The girl reached out and touched his chest: "All she remembers is the moment you led her towards her destiny. She said that as long as she doesn't wake up, she can continue walking with you."
"That's enough," Su Ting said in a low, hoarse voice. "She can't go on like this."
The girl looked at him: "Are you ready?"
"What do you mean?"
“Enter her dream.” The girl stretched out her hand, her fingertips glowing with a faint golden light. “It’s not a simple projection of consciousness, but a return of the soul to its rightful place.”
Su Ting was stunned: "You mean... I want to truly enter her dream? Not just intrude?"
“You are not ‘you,’ and you are no longer ‘Su Ting,’” the girl said. “Dreams will analyze your existence and then transform you into the person she wants to see in her dreams. If you are not resolute enough, you will be assimilated. Forever drowning.”
Chenxi cursed, "Damn it, this is suicide!"
