I Saw a Smile

For The Smile 2

I awoken and in my sight was the ceiling of the school infirmary.

“Oh, you woke up.”

“Sensei(Teacher)・・・?”

It seems the school infirmary sensei has noticed here. The inside of my head is refreshing, the question of “Why am I in the school infirmary” begins to emerge.

“Err・・・Why am I in the school infirmary・・・”

“You seem to have collapsed in the classroom, the child who brought you in said that.”

Sensei got up from the chair, and sat back again in a small chair beside the bed.

“The child who brought me ・・・”

“What was it huhー ・・・Oomichi-kun was it? That good-looking child”

“Oomichi-kun!?”

To Sensei’s response I gave a loud shout. That Oomichi-kun and myself ・・・ As I pondered it I sensed “a happy-ish an embarrassing-ish” feeling.

“However, any facial expression did not change. It was a feeling that only the body was flustered.”

“As expected ・・・ It was something”

“By the way sugishita-san, I wonder why did you collapse?”

“・・・Whaa?”

When I answered while feigning innocence, Sensei shrugged his shoulders. I can not tell anyone the reason why I collapsed. There is no way I can say that I was thinking about nothing but him.

Because it was just lunch break, I will say thanks to Oomichi-kun another time. When returning to the classroom the girls,

“Is okay!?” “I was surprised when you suddenly collapse!”

To the gathering calls, I answered appropriately. I managed to escape the wave of girls to look at Oomichi-kuns’s seat.

“・・・Huh(Are)?”

He was not in the seat he had always been. I asked the girls in the area.

“Hey, Oomichi-kun is? I wanted to say thank you・・・”

“Well・・・? Don’t know, so sorry”

“Uun, it’s okay”

I somehow suddenly felt uneasy. I went around inside the school looking for him. My school had free access to the rooftop, when I went there,

“・・・Oomichi-kun”

He slowly turned this way. And with his usual low resounding voice,

“Sugishita-san”

“Oomichi-kun, for a while ago thank you!”

I thanked him with a smile. But he did not smile.

“Mou, are you okay?”

He confirms the well being of my body without changing his expression.

“Un! I am alright”

“That so・・・”

The corners of his mouth was about to rise, the corners reverted back.

I boldly asked to see.

“Hey・・・ You won’t smile?”

“・・・I will not smile”

He muttered in a sad voice, as I thought there seems to be something behind it.

“Its fine to laugh(smile) at me as well, Oomichi-kun is also human”

“I am ・・・ different, should not laugh(smile)”

“Why!? There is no reason anywhere to not to laugh(smile)! Laugh(Smile) whenever you want!”

“Here the bell rang ending the lunch break. He left the rooftop at a quick pace.”

“Oomichi-kun”

I was somewhat concerned about him. Oomichi-kun’s “reason to not laugh(smile)” that is・・・  (TLN: The word for smile and laugh is the same word… It doesn’t feel right to completely use one over the other here)
