A lot of cracks started to go into the frozen magma. 

CRACK

Then all of the magma was blown away. The ground was collapsing. Illuminated by the unknown light, the ice fragments were shining, reflecting glittering light. Everything was sparkling. 

In between the shattered ice fragments, Alaine and I kept on falling down, down and down. We went under the frozen magma. From there, all I could see was nothing but deep darkness. Deep, deep darkness. 

“Ho~”

I fluttered the big wings on my back. While carrying Alaine in a princess carry, I went down with all of my might. Down and down I went. Into the darkness. 

“I wonder how far we’re going to fall?”

In front of us, there was only deep, deep darkness. 

THUD

Shaking off the darkness. Overtaking the darkness. With my speed, I left the darkness behind. 

“Huh?”

“Hm.”

Alaine and I arrived at a hall that wasn’t that large. It was just a space with a small cube placed in the center. 

“Let me see now.”

I reached my hand toward the cube. 

《Vssh…. Vssh… Vssh…》

The moment I touched the cube, a noisy sound was coming from the cube. 

“Hm? What is this?”

I tilted my head to the side and looked at Alaine.

Alaine just continued to stare at me, I couldn’t read the emotion in her eyes. 

“……….Oh?”

Sensing tremendous power coming from the cube, I turned my attention back to the cube. The cube was glittering in rainbow color, generating magic power. 

“Huh? What?”

The cube then started slowly going down. Down and down it went, swallowed by the ground. When the cube was completely swallowed by the ground…. The wall, the floor, everything was engulfed in light. 

Then a boy emerged from the ground. The boy was bound with numerous chains. He had pitch black hair and black eyes. His height was more or less the same as mine. Both his hands and legs were littered with numerous scars. The scars were so numerous that I felt tempted to avert my gaze from him. 

A mask covered his face and in the part that didn’t get covered by the mask, I could see terrible burn marks. 

“Hmph!”

A flash of light passed beside me. Alaine slashed the chained boy without any hesitation. 

“──────”

Hoarse, nearly inaudible voice was coming from the chained boy. But, it seemed his words were heard by the world. 

BAM!

A shield, probably invoked by the chained boy, blocked Alaine’s attack. 

“Heavenly Sword.”

Alaine’s body and sword were shining, overflowing with magic power. 

SHATTER

The brittle and fragile shield crumbled away.
