Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

That morning Maximillian was enjoying his coffee on the balcony of his room when he saw a flash of purple lightning in the sky. It wasn't ordinary lightning, and humans couldn't see it.

What humans saw was only overcast clouds with the sun perfectly hidden behind the clouds. But what the rulers of nature and the Vectis in this world saw was different.

Right now, they saw several, maybe even dozens of thunderbolts shouting at each other there. The lightning was neither yellow nor white, but this one was purple.

Max picked up his phone, which vibrated, indicating an incoming call.

"Do you see it?" was the direct inquire from the caller.

"I see it."

"Has this happened before?"

"No. Perhaps, the yellow king knows the meaning of this phenomenon."

"I think so, but I'm currently in China, and I haven't found his current identity. I have a bad feeling about this." there was an agitated tone in Fye's voice.

"I'll summon his source."

"But how?"

"I'll get to you once I have the answers."

After ending the call, Max called Dietrich.

"I will be going to my astral world for the next few days. If I don't come back when Chleo returns, find an excuse for her not to look for me."

After briefing Dietrich and other arrangements, Max contacts someone he misses the most.

"Hi, how are you there?" greeted the girl.

"Miss you."

Chleo cleared her throat a few times, hearing her lover's answer. Max could imagine the girl's face must be blushing right now. He was tempted to teleport to the girl's place then silently watched the girl.

Unfortunately, he didn't know the girl's exact position, so he couldn't pinpoint the teleport destination.

"Have you opened my present?"

"I have. I like it very much." Chleo raised her hand, which now had another bracelet adorning her wrist.

The design of the bracelet was simple, with a thin chain made of white gold. The design used a drawstring concept, so the way to wear it was unique. Chleo had to loosen the drawstring lock to widen the hole of the bracelet circle, then tighten the drawstring to make the circle wrap around her wrist perfectly.

"Max, the four stones in the middle... could it be opals?"

"That's right. Two of the bluestones are blue opals while the other two are white sapphires."

"Did you know that opal is my birthstone?"

"Yes, I know."

Chleo was taken aback to hear that. How did he know? She didn't even remember telling him her birth date?

"How did you know?"

"I have my way. Oh, I've prepared a New Year's present for you."

"Ah?"

"But, you will only receive it later when you return to work in Daphnia."

"Now, you make me inquisitive."

A small laugh from the other side made Chleo's face heat up. Luckily she was at the end of the world, so her lover didn't see her blushing face.

"Ah, but I didn't prepare anything for you at all. Do you want anything? Come to think of it, I know very little about your liking."

"My liking is quite simple. I thought you already know?"

"What?"

"Wait a moment."

Max requested to convert the voice call to a video call the next second. With pleasure, Chleo accepted it, and now the face she missed so much adorned her phone screen.

Chleo cleverly captured a screenshot on the screen. She would make it her wallpaper image.

"Chleo, are you happy?"

"Of course, I feel happy." her smile grew wider as she glanced at her new bracelet for the umpteenth time.

"That's what I like."

Chleo returned her attention to her lover's face with a confused look.

"I love seeing you smile. I love hearing your laugh and also… I love seeing you blush like this because of my compliment."

Chleo no longer dared to look into her lover's blue eyes even though she could have put her phone down or closed the camera, but she didn't.

"Would you die if you stop teasing me for a day?"

Max laughed loudly at her request.

"Chleo, where are you?"

Chleo looked towards the source of the voice calling her and noticed Abigail was looking for her. "Ugh! Why is she looking for me? I'm sorry. I gotta go."

"Okay. Have fun."

"Hmm. You too."

Max sighed and directly teleported to his astral world as soon as the call ended. He also summoned Falcon and unceremoniously announced his intentions.

"You want to summon the yellow king astral soul? It will eat up most of your primary energy, and you could fall unconscious for days."

"I know. But this is an emergency. Purple lightning was unnatural, let alone happening for a full five minutes. There is something wrong. You feel it, too, right?"

The Falcon perched on the fir tree shook his head in resignation. Then he flapped his wings to fly and perched on his shoulder.

"Okay. I'm ready."

To perform the yellow king astral soul summoning ritual, the blue king must combine his energy with the Falcon to create a particular portal.

The portal was in the form of a circle with a diameter as high as an average human. Its background was like an abstract painting in dark colors. From that portal will come out the astral soul they want.

They had to maintain their concentration so that the summoning path wouldn't stray and other people's astral souls would appear.

It had been more than ten minutes, and yet there was no sign of the yellow king's astral soul while Falcon was already starting to feel restless, and sweat was dripping uncontrollably from Maximillian's forehead.

Just as the two of them decided to stop, a gold ribbon followed by yellowish smoke shot out from the circular portal. Falcon and Max both held on to their utmost to keep opening the portal, knowing they had succeeded in summoning the yellow king's astral soul.

The ribbon and smoke still floated in the air and became one to form an adult human form. Then a voice… thousands of indistinct voices asked him.

"Thy blue king, why did you summon me here at the risk of your power. Is it about the lightning that appeared earlier?"

"That's right. The purple lightning symbolizes the power of the Vectis. Is there a Vectis going on a rampage?"

"If Vectis went on a rampage, then the lightning just now wouldn't have occurred in the entire world. The fact that you can see it as well as I saw it at my place means something is happening."

"What is it?" Max's breathing started to become erratic from using too much of his power.

"..." For a moment, the yellow king did not speak. "For now, the world is safe. We will meet again. Until then, you don't have to worry, and also… don't summon me like this again."

Just as the yellow king finished his sentence, the human form of the yellow king shot swiftly towards the portal and destroyed the portal.

Max sat limply, trying to catch his breath.
