Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chleo had heard and seen that the rulers of nature had guardian beasts that accompanied them. She had met a red wolf in Germany when she was a child, and there was nothing strange about the wolf other than its striking red color and size, which was much bigger than ordinary wolves.

Chleo had also met the Falcon, Max's guardian beast, and it was only an ordinary eagle. Yet, she never expected or foreseen something as abnormal as the guardian beast before her eyes right now.

A giant tiger… twice as big as a normal one with white feathered wings on its back! Those wings even could cover the tiger entirely. 

This is not normal. Thought Chleo.

The white wolf and eagle were still normal without her knowing that both beasts altered their appearance. Chleo would probably faint if she saw the true forms of the red wolf and white eagle.

"Th… that…"

"He's the yellow king's guardian beast. He was the first to find you here so he could help you in time."

Bai Yu tilted its head while its eyes looked straight at Chleo, making the girl gulp nervously. For some reason, Chleo felt like she was in a tiger's den, and she was going to be eaten by that horrifying tiger.

Noticing the gleam of fear dancing in her eyes, Bai Yu decided to use his disguise and turned into a fat white cat with thick fur.

Seeing this transformation made Chleo go into shock, and her knees went limp. Luckily Max was ready to support her, so Chleo didn't fall.

"Are you okay?"

Chleo shook her head weakly. "This must be a dream. Right. I must be dreaming. I should have been on the bus to Great Falls and not stranded in the desert with some black people. I must be dreaming."

Max suppressed a smile as he watched Chleo start to ignore him and talk to herself. He pinched both Chleo's cheeks lightly, making Chleo's brows furrow.

"Still think now is a dream?"

Chleo pursed her lips while rubbing her cheeks which her lover had just pinched. It's pretty painful but not too much. The pain was enough to convince her that she wasn't dreaming.

"What happened? Why am I here?"

"I'm the one who wants to ask, how did you get stranded in an ancient kingdom in Africa?"

"What? So we're really in Africa? How could that be?"

"That's what I'm trying to find out. What happened? Do you remember what happened the last time you were on the bus?"

Chleo was pensive, trying to recall anything she could remember. The last time she remembered, she was sitting while listening to her iPod, then suddenly Ashley was sitting next to her. After that, she woke up in the middle of the desert.

Before that, she didn't remember anything else.

Chleo told Max about her experience ever since she arrived in the desert with nothing to hide.

"Did they hurt you while you were locked up?"

Chloe shook her head. "No. They just locked us up and fed us weird creamy soup every day. It looked disgusting, but it tasted weirdly good. Do you know who they are?"

"I have some idea, but not too sure. Besides, I've never set foot in Africa before."

"Why?"

"Among so many continents, there are some continents that rulers are not allowed to enter. One of them is the African continent because this place is a portal between the other world and this world."

"Another world? You mean the afterlife world?"

"No." Max chuckled in amusement. "For example, a world where the Vectis was born. The portal is in the pile of this ancient royal palace. If there was a ruler here, accidents could happen. Like our energy aura will allow humans to see the portal and accidentally enter it."

Chleo widened her eyes at this. "In that case, wouldn't it be dangerous for you to be here? We have to get out of here quickly."

"You are right. I used all my strength to teleport here as soon as I heard from Bai Yu. So I can only take the two of us away from here."

"Oh?" Chleo just remembered that Ashley was still with them. She was almost tempted to leave her here alone in return for the trouble she had to deal with a few months ago.

"You can't possibly want to abandon her, can you?"

"It just crossed my mind," replied Chleo shyly. "But I wouldn't."

"Hmm. Especially when she cried a lot when she thinks you're dead. I don't think it's appropriate to leave someone who is so worried about you."

Chleo blinked a few times while digesting her lover's words. For the first time in her memory, she felt that she could not understand her mother tongue. Or maybe there is something wrong with her hearing?

"What did you say?"

"It's not appropriate to leave someone who is so worried about you?" repeated Max in confusion.

"No. Before that."

"She cried a lot when she thought you were dead?"

"Yeah, that one. You must be joking, right? She can't be crying over my death."

"No, I'm not."

"Max, you know what she did to me last year. Not only did she slander me and corner me, but she also broke my laptop and plotted to kidnap me. She couldn't possibly cry worrying about me. She might cry over happiness to see me dead."

"…" Max just sighed sadly at the girl's words.

He thought the red-haired Chleo and this Chleo were different, but the girl proved him wrong. Once Chleo hated someone, her heart would be tightly closed to that person no matter the thousands of kindnesses that person did for her.

Max let go of his embrace and spoke in a tone that Chleo had never heard before.

"Chleo, how long are you going to act like this? Not everyone will continue to be mean to you. Why don't you give her a chance? Don't be childish."

Chleo gasped and subconsciously stepped back at Max's scornful tone. It was the first time she'd heard the cold tone and irritated look on Max's face towards her.

Under normal circumstances, maybe Chleo would regret and apologize immediately. But on the contrary, her anger skyrocketed when she realized that Max, her lover, was defending another girl!

Chleo wasn't a narrow-minded person, and she wouldn't mind if Max stood up for another girl. But she couldn't contain her emotions as the man defended the girl she hated the most!

"Childish? Just because you are immortal and stay in this world much longer than me doesn't mean I'll let you undervalue me. On what basis are you defending that woman? Why are you thinking more about her than about how I feel?"

"What are you thinking to think I care more about other girls…." 

"Other girls!" Chleo shouted, whose anger was now unstoppable.  "That's right. You're taking care of another girl right now. Then why don't you make her your love and break up with childish me!!"

"What? Chleo!!"

Max held her hand, but Chleo slapped him, and she marched toward the hut and slammed the door loudly.

On the other hand, Bai Yu just yawned indifferently like a lazy cat while wondering, "Why do I stay here?"

The lazy cat was just sleeping under the tree while wagging its furry tail.
