Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 213 - Ch. 213 She Should Be Dead

Silence. There was no sound even though Chleo and Ashley were standing in the crowd of Vectis.

Chleo and Ashley didn't dare to make a sound, considering that previously the female Vectis attacked them after Chleo opened her voice just to greet her.

Surprisingly, Chleo noticed the horns on their heads were shining alternately. Some didn't shine and wore flat faces, but most of the horns of the Vectis shone like stars in the sky.

Then Chleo remembered Yuna's Vectis words telling them about the function of his horn.

'We rarely meet face to face. Usually, we communicate through our horns'

Looking at the alternately shining horns, it seemed like all Vectis were communicating with each other.

Ugh!

It's really not fair. They can do telepathy, and humans would not know what they were discussing while humans have to make sounds to communicate with each other, which this bunch of otherworldly creatures would surely hear.

Chleo didn't understand why this guy called Aslan had to create a world that was so opposite to the human world, and their differences were like heaven and earth.

It wasn't long before one of the Vectis walked up to them at the same time the horns on his head stopped shining.

Chleo and Ashley gulped nervously when they realized a Vectis was walking towards them.

This Vectis was very tall, maybe even more towering than Maximillian or Uncle Kinsey. Chleo and Ashley had to raise their heads once this Vectis stood in front of them.

"Humans, what is your purpose in coming here?"

Chleo and Ashley looked at each other as soon as they heard Vectis' question spoken in human language.

"We got lost." this time, it was Ashley who answered without explaining further.

"You are friends with one of our members?"

"That's right. He helped us to hide first while he looked for a way for us to return home to our world." Ashley replied in a longer sentence after not detecting the threat of danger behind the Vectis question.

"How about you?" this time, Vectis glanced at Chleo with an intimidating glare. "Why do I detect a target mark on you?"

Chleo frowned in confusion, not understanding this fierce Vectis's question.

"What target mark are you referring to?"

Gasp!!

Almost all of the Vectis there gasped in surprise and rapidly advanced on the offensive stance towards Chleo. The weirdest thing was only two-horned Vectis that stared dagger at Chleo, while the one-horned ones didn't budge from their place. Instead, they look confused due to the sudden change in atmosphere from their fellow Vectis.

Chleo and Ashley were utterly bewildered by the sudden offensive attitude of the two-horned Vectis.

Wasn't the female Vectis who met them in the cave behave the same? The female Vectis didn't do anything and just looked at them with confusion and curiosity.

However, upon hearing Chleo's voice, the Vectis became alert and immediately bound them.

It's the same right now. At first, the Vectis just stood up straight and looked at them unfriendly but not too offensive.

But as soon as Chleo spoke, their attitude turned upside down.

Ashley pulled Chleo behind her as if she was a parent with extraordinary protective instincts. It looked like the Vectis went on the offensive towards them because of hearing Chleo's voice.

Ashley didn't know why they were affected by Chleo's voice because she thought Chleo's voice sounded normal to her ears.

How did they get away with a bunch of Vectis that could basically kill them with a snap of a finger?

For now, she had to tell Chleo not to speak first.

"Chleo, don't make a sound for now," Ashley whispered as quietly as possible but made sure Chleo heard her voice.

Chleo didn't understand what was wrong with her voice, but she complied and stopped speaking. She let Ashley do the negotiations with Vectis, who was still standing before them.

"What target mark are you referring to? I'm sure there's been a misunderstanding here."

"Your friend is dead."

This short answer made Ashley and Chleo feel like they were being bathed in cold water. What did he mean by saying Chleo was dead?

If Chleo was dead, then who was standing with her?

Ashley wanted to scream to refute this absurd statement. Clearly, her friend was still alive and well and standing with her, but this creature cursed her by saying that Chleo was dead.

As if he could hear her thoughts, the Vectis continued, "She should be dead. But someone reversed the time in your world, so she's back alive."

Reverse time? What nonsense is this?

Unbeknownst to them, the towering Vectis before them glanced at one of his companions and communicated through his horns. Then the ground on which their feet stood shook as if there was a great earthquake.

"Little human, get away from her side if you don't want to die. We have to kill her here."

Ashley gasped when suddenly the same wind bound Chleo's body and took her straight to the edge of the cliff, while Ashley couldn't do anything to help her friend.

Chleo shuddered in horror as she landed on the very edge of the ground, while behind her was only a bottomless dark abyss.

"You better jump yourself down because we don't want to get our hands dirty."

"No! Chleo!!" Unfortunately, the same wind bounded Ashley's whole body to prevent her from helping Chleo.

Chleo was still standing where she was without stepping back. Instead, she was about to walk forward to avoid the abyss.

However, a couple of two-horned Vectis got in the way by creating spikes out of rocks and then pointed them at Chleo.

Now Chleo was faced between the abyss with dozens of spikes aimed at her.

The spikes were advancing toward her, and if Chleo was careless to step forward, there was no guaranteeing it wouldn't pierce her vulnerable body.

Chleo was in panic and scared to the point she lost her balance, unconsciously tripped herself, and fell backward.

"CHLEOOOOO!!!"
