Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 217 - Ch. 217 I Will Follow You Wherever You Go

Back to Chleo, who was currently standing on the edge of the cliff with spikes advancing towards her.

Chleo's heart was beating wildly, and her legs were shaking, almost unable to support her body.

The spearheads were pointed at her and stuck together with each other. Chleo felt like she was facing against a wall that had spearheads planted in it.

But now, the wall was moving forward towards her, forcing her to step back, making her legs tremble even more. Chleo bit her lip because she didn't know what other way to save her from death.

Whichever step she chooses would end in death, making her feel helpless.

She glanced at Ashley, who was screaming while struggling. Just like her, Ashley was desperate to save Chleo, but her hands were tied because her body was violently gripped by one of the Vectis.

Ashley's dainty body even floated in mid-air as Vectis, who was seizing her, was much taller.

Ashley's legs twitched and kicked her catcher's leg, but Vectis didn't budge from his place. Ashley felt like she was kicking a solid wall, and when she saw Chleo arrive at the cliff's very edge, her eyes filled with helpless tears.

Chleo could feel Ashley's distress and helplessness through her eyes, and unconsciously, her eyes were filled with tears.

Was it really the end?

Chleo glanced at her foothold only to realize there was no longer anything to make her stand. Chleo tried her best to shift sideways without falling to avoid the spikes that dangerously got closer and closer by the second.

At one point, she lost balance, and her foothold collapsed, and finally, her frame fell backward and disappeared from Ashley's sight. It was then that Ashley felt her heart stop beating.

"CHLEOOOOOOO!!!"

Chleo could hear Ashley's yelling voice calling her to tears. She stared at the sky that was getting further away as if she was drowning deep in the ocean.

She closed her eyes as she didn't dare to feel the same scary fall from the height.

Why? Why did she have to feel this again?

Would she feel pain when she hit the bottom part? Ah, it would be nice if she could just die as soon as her body hit the ground. That way, she didn't have to feel pain.

Kiiiik!!

Suddenly there was a very shrill voice that could shake the whole world. Chleo reclosed her eyes after opening them as a strong windstorm hit her body. She thought the gravity pulled her harsher and the storm only to make it worse. But... why did she feel a pleasant chill envelope her. Furthermore, she felt like she was floating in mid-air.

No. Not floating. To be precise, Chleo felt like she was soaring into the sky.

What is happening? Chleo was wondering but still did not dare to open her eyes.

"Chleo? Are you alright?" a gentle, familiar voice called her.

Chleo frowned in confusion and was curious who was talking to her. It sounded like her beloved one, but... there was no way Max would be here, right?

Chleo reopened her eyes slowly and raised her gaze until she saw a god-greek-like face with platinum hair and blue eyes staring at her with a million love.

Is it a dream? Or is she dead? But why do these pleasant feelings feel so real?

"Max? Is that you? Are you... Hmph!" Chleo was still talking in a disbelieving tone, but Max suddenly hugged her tightly, making it hard to breathe.

"Thank goodness I wasn't late."

It seemed that Chleo was still transfixed, and her brain was a bit slow to think. She has just accepted her fate to leave this world for good without meeting her family and her lover.

But suddenly, Max appeared in front of her, making her think what she was experiencing was just a dream. Or perhaps, does she hallucinate?

But the comfortable cold temperature and the man's distinctive voice made her sure that she wasn't dreaming.

Max is right here with her! The man followed her into this realm.

Overwhelmed by a feeling of immense relief from her restlessness for the past week, Chleo couldn't hold back her tears anymore. She burst into tears in Max's arms and hugged him back.

Seeing how much Chleo had broken down made Max's heart erode.

He changed his mind. He had planned to bring Chleo home first before paying back to those rogue Vectis. But now, he didn't want to bring Chleo back home.

He felt that Chleo was much safer with him than returning Chleo to her human family.

Max could rest easy and return Chleo to her family's protection if their enemies were only humans. He was sure that no human would be able to penetrate the defense of both Vincent Regnz and Kinsey Alvianc.

But their enemy was not humans but Vectis.

That was why Chleo would be safer with him than being separated from him.

"Chleo, from now on, I will not let you go. I will take you wherever I go, and I will follow you wherever you go," declared Max firmly without loosening his arms.

"En. I will follow you."

Max loosened his arms and checked Chleo's condition to see any wounds on his wife's… his future wife's tiny body.

"Are you hurt?" Max wiped the tears from Chleo's cheeks then smiled faintly as Chleo shook her head.

"I'm not. I've met the danger a thousand times, but miraculously I'm still alive and unharmed. I'm fine."

"I thought I lost you."

"Me too. I thought I couldn't see you again." Chleo felt she wanted to cry again as Max cupped her face with his gentle, much bigger hands.

Max kissed her forehead and pulled her back between his arms while showering her crown with his kisses.

Chleo's smile became wider as she felt the rainy kiss on her head and glanced down only to see a strange white fur under her buttocks.

She pulled away slowly and felt the cold breeze around her. She only realized that she was... flying!?

"This… this... what? We're flying?" Chleo shifted her gaze at the front head and found a big giant head of a bird.

If only her eyes could be wider, it would. Chleo couldn't believe what she saw.

"Ah, this is your first time seeing Falcon's true form."

"Fa… Falcon!?" Chleo had no idea that the giant bird she was mounting with Max was the Falcon, the white eagle she'd seen often.

The current Falcon's frame was enormous, perhaps even enough to accommodate three to four more people on its back.

Chleo shifted closer to Max's body. Apart from being afraid of falling because they were flying at frightening speed, Chleo felt more comfortable inside her lover's arms.

"Ah," then suddenly she remembered something. "Ashley, she's still with those creatures."

"Don't worry.. My friend has already taken care of it."
