Alexis couldn't focus on his assessment by reason of worrying about the cute girl he had just met a moment ago. In essence, Alexis didn't need this evaluation score.

He only needed an attendance list, but he didn't have to take the exam because he was the school's leading swimmer.

That's why he slipped out of the pool his school rented and returned to this regular one.

Luckily he arrived on time and managed to help this tiny figure. He didn't know what caused this girl to be so afraid of water, but he did know he was particularly attracted to this little one and wanted to be friends with her.

He had come here just to ask this girl's name on the grounds of worrying about her. But who would have thought? His worries came true, and he saw this child almost drowned in front of him.

After giving first aid to Chleo's cramping legs, Chleo's pain finally subsided, and the teenage girl started sobbing.

Chleo was still leaning her head on the shoulder of one of her friends breathlessly as if she had just done an exhausting activity.

When her feelings and thoughts began to calm down, Chleo realized that the person who saved her and helped her relieve the pain in her legs was Alexis.

She looked at the young man's shoulder, which showed some dark red dots from the grip of her fingernails. Chleo felt guilty, and unbeknownst to her, she was breaking down the defensive walls, especially for that older boy.

That was the beginning of the friendship between the red-haired Chleo with Alexis Peskhov. The seeds of love between them emerged, and their feelings for each other grew stronger until nothing could separate the two.

Until one day…

"Chleo, you never told me that your father is Vincentius Regnz," Alexis growled in an accusing tone one day on one of their dates.

Ever since Chleo met Alexis when she was fourteen, Chleo had never once told Alexis who her parents were. But she didn't hide the fact that she was the daughter of a well-off family, and her father believed she needed several bodyguards to protect her.

Alexis didn't mind Chleo's background because he thought Chleo's current mystery was one of her charms.

Alexis himself was also the main successor of the Peskhov family, so he could understand why Chleo had so many bodyguards following her around.

Alexis had several bodyguards in the past on the orders of Vasili Peskhov. His uncle had stopped seeing him since his father died, but strangely the older man still kept an eye on him from afar.

He didn't mind at first, but he started to feel uncomfortable with his bodyguards ever since he entered college. He was sure he could protect himself since he had already learned martial arts and requested his uncle to withdraw all bodyguards from him.

Fortunately, Vasili did not refuse his request and withdrew all his guards. Unfortunately, not long after, Alexis got the news of the death of his only uncle due to a plane crash.

Vasili's death gave Alexis the rightful control holder and the ultimate successor of all the assets of the Peskhov family. Alexis, who had been working under someone else's leadership at another company, had to go to Russia to take care of his legacy.

Before he left, he confessed his feelings to Chleo, and the girl happily accepted him. Alexis returned to America after a year of settling his inheritance issues and settling into his new job as owner of Peskhov corp.

Then Alexis and Chleo went on dates and did other things that other lovers did for the next three years. During his date with Chleo, Alexis gained news of the truth behind his father's death.

He believed his father died in an accident because the officers told him. But he had no idea that someone had tampered with the car his father was driving and controlled the car until it had a deadly accident.

And one of the criminals who had planned the murder of his father was Vincentius Regnz.

Ever since he learned the truth behind his father's death, Alexis has set one main goal in his life.

Revenge.

He used his ingenuity to undermine the value of the shares owned by the Flex group. He also sabotaged the collaborations that Flex had with other companies and seized potential business partners who could potentially increase the success of the Flex group.

Whether Vincent was not good at handling his business or the goddess of luck was on his side, Alexis managed to destroy the value of the primary shares belonging to the Flex group with ease.

Who would have thought it turned out that Vincent had a lot of enemies out there. As soon as the stock plummeted, some immediately bought Flex shares at a low price.

It's just a matter of time to wait for the company's bankruptcy, making Alexis want to celebrate the whole night.

Alexis didn't plan to physically kill Vincent because death was too easy-punishment for his past deed. He decided to take one by one the things that were precious to the man and make Vincent's life a miserable life full of helplessness.

He investigated the man's background. Who are his wife, his children, and his beloved family member?

In the process of his investigation, he found out that Chleora, the girl he has dated for four years, is his enemy's biological daughter?

Alexis still didn't want to believe this fact and thought all of this was just a mistake made by the detective he hired. That's why he confronted Chleo directly to confirm this information.

How surprised he was when the girl admitted it and had absolutely no intention of lying to him.

This made Alexis shaken and saw red. If he had known from the start that Chleo was the daughter of his enemy, he would not have approached her.

Alexis would never fall in love nor give his heart to that girl.

But Alexis had fallen in love with Chleo, yet he still couldn't get over his deep-rooted resentment.

After thinking for a while, he started to believe he could have both. He could have Chleo by his side at the same time he could complete his revenge plan.

He deliberately relents and apologizes to Chleo to persuade her to marry him secretly.

By now, he was sure Vincent already knew that the person who attacked his company was Alexis. Just imagine if the man found out that his only precious daughter fell in love and instead married the person who had ruined his business.

Alexis couldn't wait for that person's expression.

Unfortunately, somehow, Vincentius Regnz knows the love affair between his daughter and Alexis. Vincent forbids Chleo from seeing Alexis and completely breaks up with strict orders.

In the end, Chleo chose to listen to his father's orders rather than accept his proposal. Alexis decided not to meet with Chleo to show that he was remarkably disappointed in Chleo.

He even accused the innocent girl that Chleo didn't love him as much as he loved her. He was also sure that in the end, Chleo would still choose him over her parents if he kept pushing her limit.

After all, blame the parents for not giving enough love to their daughter. When Chleo needed support and strength, her parents weren't there. Instead, it was Alexis who was always with her.

And just as Alexis suspected, Chleo ran away from home because she didn't want to listen to her father's ramblings.

Alexis purposely didn't contact the girl to make Chleo feel even more helpless if she wasn't with him. When they met later, Alexis would convince her to elope with him and take her to Russia. After making sure Chleo cut ties with the Regnz, Alexis would destroy Vincent Regnz's business empire.

That was the original plan. But Alexis didn't expect another man to snatch Chleo from him, and this made his plans fall apart, and not to mention, this very same man was able to help the Flex group restore its former glory.

Alexis rehired a detective to investigate this man and looked at his photo from the detective. This man's face… where had he seen it?

Alexis unpacked the storage room for old things he had as a child. He found a small photo album where he took a picture with his grandfather and uncle when he was a child.

He attached a photo of the investigation of a young man named Axelard Cavendish with a picture of his uncle. His eyes widened at the sudden realization.

Alexis remembered his flipped-out father always told him that his uncle was not a human. Uncle Vasili was an immortal who wouldn't grow old.

At first, he didn't believe it, but after seeing this young man's face that looked precisely like his supposedly dead uncle and, especially this man's appearance, looked as young as ever, Alexis couldn't help but believe it.

'Uncle Vasili, you are still alive.. I still haven't settled a score with you for letting my father die unjustly.'
