Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 69 - Ch. 69 The One Who Biased Toward Chleo

Chleo had finished telling her brother everything. She was waiting for Diego's response because she hoped that her younger brother could solve the dilemma she was currently facing. But until a few minutes passed, her brother didn't make a sound at all.

"Diego, what do you think? What should I do?"

"..." Diego still didn't make a sound and only smiled.

"Right now, I can avoid this. Tomorrow he will leave, and who knows when he will return. At least for the time being, we can still communicate like normal friends."

"..."

"But, what should I do once he returns?"

"..."

"Diego, I truly don't know what to do. Why are you silent? You would be chattering non-stop at this time."

"Hmm... hm... hm..." Diego croaked while waving his hand, pointing at his lips, which had been 'locked' tightly a moment ago.

Seeing her brother's movements irritated Chleo. How dare her brother joke at a time like this?

"Stop it. Just talk if you want to."

"Hmm… hmm..." Diego muttered as he shook his head violently, indicating he was utterly voiceless.

"Okay. What should I do so you can talk again?" Chleo sighed in defeat. Her brother's naughtiness was beyond control.

"Hm..." Diego showed his palms as if telling her to wait.

Then he got up and walked towards the place when he threw 'something.' Chleo just shook her head resignedly to see her brother so seriously looking for the 'something' he had thrown before she started her story.

Diego squealed with joy when he found 'something' which was none other than the key that closed his lips. Diego showed Chleo that 'something' which, of course... invisible. Chleo rolled her eyes when she saw Diego turning the invisible key to unlock his lips.

"Phew! I can finally talk!" Diego exclaimed, exaggeratingly making Chleo stroked her temple.

"Why do I have a brother like you? Can't I have a 'normal' brother?" she muttered in a whisper-like voice, but her brother could still hear it.

"You know you can't choose who will be your siblings," Diego said jokingly. He was not offended by his sister's words. On the contrary, he found it funny because he knew Chleo wasn't serious at all. "Just like we don't get to choose who our parents are. But… we can choose who will be our partner."

Chleo blinked in curiosity when she heard a serious tone suddenly come out of her brother's mouth. She still wasn't used to her brother's change in attitude. Sometimes he seems to joke around; the next second, he looks serious in every word.

In this respect, Diego was exactly like their father, Vincentius Regnz. Vincent was most notable for faking his demeanor when he meets strangers. He acts weak, friendly, and easily gullible. But in reality, Vincent was very sharp, alert, and easy to prevent anyone who wants to attack his family.

You could say this father-son pair was a beast in a sheepskin.

"We can choose our partner?"

"Although papa mama, and I like Alexis, it doesn't mean we are forcing you to accept him. The one who will live with him is you. The only one who knows whether you will be happy or not is you. All final decisions are in your hands. You have the right to accept it, and you also have the right to reject it."

"Diego..." awww... Chleo couldn't hold back her emotions. Sometimes this boy's way of thinking was more mature than hers. If Diego were born first and became her older brother, Chleo would surely adore him and do whatever her brother told her to do.

Even so, Chleo did not mind being an older sister to Diego. She even felt that she hadn't done enough for Diego so that her brother could cherish her like this.

Diego continued to stand up for her and support her. It was as if Diego was the older brother who pampered and gave his little sister too much love.

Little did she know, even though Chleo didn't do much, it was her concern for Diego that made the boy love and protect his sister so much.

Diego still remembered very well when he was four years old. There was a pretty deadly virus that was spreading around him. Children under ten years old were very susceptible to this disease, and Diego was one of the victims.

So that Diego's disease did not spread to other children, his parents isolate Diego in the room for the whole week. They did accompany Diego and did not leave him alone, but still, little Diego felt lonely easily.

Seeing only adults who accompany him to play was not fun. He was most enthusiastic when Chleo visited his room secretly to play with him.

At that time, Diego did not understand why his parents always scolded Chleo when she was caught entering his room. He didn't know at that time that Chleo coming into his room could risk getting infected.

And sure enough. Not long after Diego recovered, it was Chleo who fell ill. Only then did he understand why his parents isolated him, who often had fever and nausea. Now his sister was also isolated in her room so as not to infect him again.

Diego knew the feeling of being alone in the room. Their parents couldn't accompany their children in the room for twenty-four hours a day. There must be times when they have to work or take care of other household activities.

So Diego sneaked out and tried to get into his sister's room. Unfortunately, Chleo locked the door and wouldn't let Diego in.

No matter how hard he knocked on Chleo's bedroom door and called his sister out, Chleo wouldn't open it at all. Diego even cried to the point of wailing from his longing for his sister on the fifth day, but Chleo still insisted on not opening the door for him.

Only after Chleo recovered completely, Chleo entered his room and quickly showered his face with her kisses. There was no need for Diego to come to her because she always came to him first.

Diego knew right away that his sister missed him just as much as he did.

It doesn't stop there. Chleo always protected him and defended him when Diego was mistreated by his schoolmates. Diego used to be a crybaby and a coward, so he became the laughing stock at school. Whenever Chleo saw him being laughed at, Chleo always defended and scolded his friends fiercely.

Since then, Diego has decided not to be a coward. He decided to become strong so that one day he could protect his sister.

That's why he immediately had a dream to become like Darrel Alvianc. The figure of someone who had an overwhelming domineering that would make everyone feel trembled with fear at sight.

In this world… the first person who would defend Chleo and be biased no matter what Chleo did… was her brother, Diego Regnz.
