Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star
Chapter 77 - Ch. 77 Awkward Silence
Max and Chleo were in a restaurant in eerie silence at this moment. Until now, Max couldn't understand why he asked the girl to have lunch together. Not only Max, but Chleo herself also couldn't believe she would just accept the invitation of a strange man she just met last weekend.
Even though this person was Dietrich's friend… a distant cousin, usually Chleo wouldn't carelessly eat out with strangers.
Now the atmosphere between them felt awfully awkward because no one spoke.
Chleo just lowered her head, looking at her hands on her lap. Every now and then, she would glance at other visitors or look out the window. Her gaze darted in all directions except for the young man sitting across from her.
Unconsciously, Chleo's eyes rested on Max's as if there was a magnet pulling her. That snow-white-like guy was also apparently looking at her with a probing gaze.
Chleo was starting to get more and more self-conscious with their awkwardness. Finally, he tried to open a conversation with the young man.
"So, how long have you been friends with Dietrich?"
"You could say I was with him when he was born."
"Ah, so you guys are childhood friends."
Max just smiled without explaining further.
Chleo:...
And their conversation stopped there. Chleo didn't know what else to say and decided to wait. On the other hand, Max looked like he had no intention of talking to her.
She remembered that during the trip from the airport, Dietrich's friend didn't talk much.
Maybe this person's character was a quiet person? Then why did Max pull her out without asking? Why did he take her out for lunch?
Chleo took a deep breath. She could only endure the gripping silence. Unfortunately, no matter how hard she ignored Max, she grew more and more uncomfortable with the man's probing gaze. What does this young man want from her?
"Is there something wrong with my face? Why are you looking at me like that?" she couldn't help but ask the man in the end.
"You think there's something wrong with your face?"
Chleo's brow furrowed when she heard Max ask her back.
"I can't see my own face without a mirror. Why don't you tell me what's wrong with me? You're the one who sees me, after all." Chleo quipped in an irritated tone.
"There's nothing wrong with you. But there's something wrong with me."
"…" she didn't see that coming. "What's the matter with you?"
"You're definitely not the prettiest. In fact, there are many women who are prettier than you."
One of Chleo's eyebrows shot up hearing this. Was this young man insulting her? What did this man want from her?
"You are beautiful, but just an ordinary one."
Chleo took a deep breath holding back her irritation as she listened patiently. Not wanting to see the face of that person who was the most handsome man she had ever met, Chleo looked out the window.
"But why can't I get you out of my mind?"
Suddenly Chleo's body froze hearing Max's last question. Did she hear wrong?
Chleo didn't even notice she was holding her breath and her heart felt like it was beating faster than usual. Was this person just now indirectly expressing his love for her?
Alas, Max didn't explain further and just smiled mysteriously, making Chleo's heart go wild. Not long after, the restaurant waiter had come to bring their ordered food.
They enjoyed the meal again in silence. Chleo decided to ignore it and quickly finished her portion of food.
Instead, Max felt nostalgic. Somehow he felt he had eaten with Chleo like this before. They dined in silence, and neither of them spoke.
Could this be one of his memories?
A second later, a word appeared across his mind. Max's movements, who were chewing his food, started to slow down. He looked back at Chleo and tried to relate the girl to the word that had just appeared in his mind.
"You like macarons?"
"Hmm. One of my favorites."
"Pierre Herme?"
"It's the best. Are you a fan of macarons too?"
"Reasonable. I have a friend who is a patisserie, and he could make macarons that are better than PH."
"Eh? really? You're so lucky."
The awkwardness between the two miraculously melted away when they talked about Chleo's favorite sweet.
Max didn't waste this opportunity and now tried to get along with Chleo. There were many things he wanted to think about, but he could do it later. At least now he knew, Fye's guess was correct. The longer he was with Chleo; the more buried memories appeared inside his mind.
Strangely enough, he was intrigued to find his lost memories.

Ashley reported the locker accident to Mr. Traven. She even gave the fake video footage to him. Mr. Traven initially did not believe Ashley's allegations against Chleo.
Mr. Traven knew Chleo very well. The girl always obeyed the rules and never got into trouble. It was hard to believe that anyone would complain about Chleo.
That was why he wasn't too interested in listening to Ashley's complaints slandering Chleo.
On the other hand, Ashley was excited as soon as she handed over her phone and ran the video. She was sure after this, Chleo West would get a penalty from the campus.
Of course, she won't stop there. She would lament to her mother, and then her mother would exaggerate the matter and nag at her father.
Mr. Grey would automatically do everything he could to get Chleo out of Seattle University. Chleo would not graduate well and be dishonorably expelled.
Thinking of this made Ashley smile happily and look forward to Mr. Traven after seeing the fake video footage. She had to keep her enthusiastic smile out of sight so that Mr. Traven would not be suspicious of her.
Instead, she put on a confused and disappointed face as if she was the victim of Chleo's wrong deeds.
"If indeed Chleo is found guilty and destroys all important data on Miss Grey's laptop, of course, she will be penalized."
Ashley's smile widened at that. She manages to gain the sympathy of her friends and together become disliking Chleo.
Now even if Eve were with Chleo, the girl wouldn't be able to do anything either. The absolute proof was already at hand. Even though Evie was the only daughter of the Bernz family, they couldn't have openly defended Chleo, who had nothing to do with them. The Bernz family certainly wouldn't ruin their fame by protecting someone who was clearly at fault, right?
Not only that, Evie would realize that Chleo didn't deserve to be her friend. As time goes by, all young men who have ever tried to approach Chleo will know Chleo's rottenness.
That way, she would be the center of attention, and no one would care about Chleo West anymore.
Even though this person was Dietrich's friend… a distant cousin, usually Chleo wouldn't carelessly eat out with strangers.
