Why? Why? Why?

Even though she had waited ten minutes, why didn't her heartbeat subside???

Chleo felt her body burning even though the weather was freezing because soon they would enter winter. Ever since she heard that Max would pick her up tomorrow, Chleo's heart seemed never to get tired of racing fast.

Very weird. What's wrong with her? Does she have a fever?

Chleo opened the window of her house wide so that the cold air hit her heated body. Even though the cold air hit her, it still couldn't relieve the heat on her face.

In the end, she walked around the room, jumping up and down incoherently. She thought maybe her heartbeat would subside if her body felt exhausted.

Unfortunately, even after marching the quite spacious main room ten times, her heart rate didn't even subside. Instead, it was increasing.

Chleo tried another way. She played a popular song, and then she danced to the beat of the music. She hadn't danced in a long time and had almost forgotten the movement.

In the end, she let her body move according to what her body remembered. Even though the brain has forgotten something, people say that sometimes the body and heart still remember it clearly.

And it's true. Chleo forgot almost all the dancing movements, but when she allowed her body to move independently without being dictated by the brain, she could move along with the beat with precise and perfect movements.

The song she put on lasted for about five minutes, and it was enough to make her physical body feel drained. She let her body slump down and laid down on the cold floor.

Chleo had taken off her jacket so that now she was only wearing a t-shirt and regular jeans. Her back against the cold floor made her very content.

Her heartbeat also gradually subsided after lying on the floor for a few minutes. At least for now, her mind was distracted.

Chleo still felt reluctant to get up and looked up at the ceiling. She thought for a moment about what she had to do tomorrow. Aside from giving the assignments, she also had to think about Ashley, who had false evidence to slander her.

She had to think of a way out so she wouldn't fall into the girl's trap. Then she also has to check e-mail whether she was accepted as an internship at a company or not.

E-mail!

Chleo instantly remembered this. The winter break would soon come, and she wanted to use this opportunity to do an internship.

A few weeks ago, she had submitted applications to three companies. One of them, she used the connection of one of her college friends who had attended the same philosophy class. While the other two companies, she did not use any link.

Chleo stood up and promptly took her laptop. If it was according to schedule, she should have received an answer this afternoon. Therefore she immediately opened her e-mail inbox and waited patiently for the results.

As soon as the display of her e-mail inbox came out, Chleo frowned in confusion.

Empty. No new e-mails.

What is this? Shouldn't she have gotten a response already?

The winter break would start next week, and she hoped to get straight to work to fill the void in his schedule. After all, she was young and had immense stamina. She would be bored to death if there were no activities to fill her vacation time.

Chleo quickly contacted her friend, the daughter of HRD, at one of the companies she proposed.

"Hey, Nia. It's me. I want to ask if the HR department still hasn't processed my application letter."

"Oh, about that. Sorry, Chleo. But it looks like they can't hire you. I just got information from my father."

"Ha? Why?"

"I don't know the precision. But my dad heard rumors that someone in power has banned every company in the Washington area from accepting Chleo West as an intern."

"HA?! Why?"

"I'm sorry, I don't know either. My father couldn't do anything either."

"Oh, it's okay. Thank you for telling me."

"Chleo, did you offend anyone? Why would someone block you like this?"

"I..." Chleo thought of Ashley, who had recently been trying to corner her.

Could it be because of the girl?

"Nia, do you know who might forbid the company to hire me?"

Chleo's biggest suspect was Ashley Grey. It was just that he also had doubts. Although her father was a governor, Mr. Gray wouldn't have bothered to contact each company just to ban her, right?

After all, not all companies are afraid of the governor's power. Some dislike Mr. Grey's policy as their governor.

"I don't know if this is true or not."

Chleo listened to her friend's words casually while taking a glass of water to sip. She suddenly felt thirsty, maybe because she was too tired from dancing earlier.

Besides, she didn't need to be afraid if the main culprit who attacked her was Ashley's family. After all, she could ask Uncle Darrell for help in Washington.

"I heard it was the Flex group founder who announced this ban to every company in the Washington area."

Chleo never expected that answer and choked on her drink and coughed several times.

What did she say? Founder of Flex group? Does she mean Vincentius Regnz?! Does that mean her own father?!

Chleo was still hitting her chest to relieve her cough from choking on her drink.

"Chleo! Are you okay?" There was a clear tone of concern for her friend.

"I'm fine. I'll call you again. See you!" Chleo immediately disconnected the call as soon as she said her last sentence.

She stroked her temple in frustration. At first, she thought she could ask Uncle Darrel for help with this ban. But if it turns out that her father gave the prohibition, how could Uncle Darrel help her?

Chleo took her phone back and immediately called her mother.

First ring, second ring...

Until the tenth ring, her mother didn't answer the call. It was definitely on purpose! Chleo grumbled in annoyance.

Then she decided to contact her father directly in vain. Are they ignoring her now?

They must have deliberately not picked up the call so that Chleo returned to New York as soon as the end of term vacation started. Of course, her father would convince her to do an internship at one of the subsidiary companies held by the Flex group.

Ugh! Vincent had promised not to interfere in her studies at this campus, but he broke it.

Not knowing who to contact, Chleo decided to call one of her bodyguards, who always protected her secretly.

"The Master and madam are in Bali, miss. They're on their honeymoon."

"..." Chleo let out a resigned sigh. How many times have her parents been on their honeymoon? They always go on their honeymoon whenever their two children go out of town.

Chleo was still in Seattle, while Diego was in Washington with Uncle Darrell. Of course, Vincent would not waste the opportunity to be alone with his wife.

But, does her father have to take the time to give her a specific ban while enjoying his honeymoon?
