Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star
Chapter 81 - Ch. 81 Waited For Half An Hour
Chleo stared at her laptop blankly. She just got an explanation from his bodyguard about the reason his father gave the ban.
Apparently, when she asked Uncle Stanley to fix her malfunctioning laptop, her uncle realized someone had hacked her laptop and gave her an unknown program virus.
Uncle Stanley told her father about this just in case. But before Vincent reacted, someone made a fake video to slander her. Fortunately, one of the bodyguards responded quickly and directly hacked Ashley's phone to add the actual, unedited video and deleted the fake one.
Her father had promised not to interfere in Chleo's college affairs while studying in Seattle. But Chleo also had to make sure she wouldn't get into trouble where her father intervened. Chleo had promised this too.
If it were her father who had to intervene, it would mean that her father already thought Chleo's condition in Seattle was no longer as safe as it should be. It only meant Chleo had to return to New York, where Vincent and others could easily supervise her well-being.
Fortunately, the problem this time was just an insignificant girl's jealousy. Moreover, Vincent was still enjoying his nth honeymoon with his beloved wife, so he was willing to give Chleo a second chance.
Vincent would not force Chleo to return home right away, and he would also allow Chleo to complete her studies until graduation. However, he would not let his daughter work as an intern at a company that was not under the auspices of the Flex group. Vincent also added several other bodyguards to guard Chleo and Diego while they were both in Washington state.
Chleo could only surrender. Instead of provoking her father's sentiments and announcing who she is, it's better for her to accept her father's terms. After all, at least she could still study on her campus in peace.
She'd better avoid Ashley and the gang for the time being. If she couldn't dodge them, she just needed to summon Evie as her shield.
She only needed one more year, and she no longer needs to avoid Ashley and the gang. She had been living campus life safely for these nearly three years. She should do it for the rest of the study year.
Chleo looked at the clock on the wall, and it was now nine-thirty. The bus she used to take would arrive at the bus stop around nine-fifty. The distance between the house and the bus stop only took five minutes on foot. Therefore she was not afraid that she would be late.
However, she felt something was off. It was as if she had forgotten something important, and Chleo had no recollection of what she had forgotten.
She tried to open her checklist to check once again what she had to bring.
The sketchbook of her work was already in her bag. Purse, phone, and house keys were also stored safely in the bag. Laptops and other writing utensils are also in the bag. Nothing was left behind, so why did she feel like she forgot something?
In the end, she decided to ignore it. She got ready and went out to the bus stop.
Just as she opened the door to her house, she saw someone standing there. The man had black hair in a black turtle-neck t-shirt and a brown leather winter coat. The young man looked very, very, very attractive.
"Good morning, Chleo." greeted the young man with a smile that could make Chleo's heart went ba-thump!
For a moment, Chleo caught up from her shock and froze in place. Seconds later, her hand that was still holding the doorknob hurried to close the door. Now they were both blocked by a door.
Max frowned, not understanding why the girl suddenly closed the door again. Did the girl not like his presence? He could see how shocked Chleo was when she saw him standing here.
Max should contact Chleo first to confirm his coming to pick up the girl. Alas, he didn't have Chleo's contact number because he stupidly forgot to ask for it yesterday.
He could have asked Dietrich for Chleo's number, but he didn't want Chleo to give him a weird look for having her phone number without her knowing. That's why he chose to ask her directly.
On the other hand, Chleo was panicking alone in her house.
'Aaaa! I knew I had forgotten something!' Chleo screamed frantically inside her head.
She went straight back to her room and stood in front of the mirror to ensure there was nothing odd about her appearance. If she remembered Max would pick her up today, she wouldn't be relaxing and looking for something cuter than her current casual appearance.
Having no time to change clothes, Chleo decided to switch to a more feminine coat. She also applied carrot color lipstick to her lips.
She rechecked her appearance in the mirror and realized something.
"I must have gone mad. Why am I doing all this? I must be possessed!" after all, she never dressed up or worried about her look every time she met a guy.
Why now is it different?
Chleo looked at her reflection in the mirror and couldn't help but feel proud to have a fair face since birth.
After being satisfied with her appearance, Chleo came out of her room and opened the door of her house. Only this time with gentle, unhurried movements, unlike before. She didn't dare to look directly at those beautiful sapphire blue eyes. For some reason, every time she looked into those eyes, she felt herself being hypnotized.
"Did something happen?" Max asked softly. Even though it wasn't too noticeable, Chleo could still detect a hint of worry in the young man's voice.
Ah, now she felt sorry. She shouldn't have just closed the door as soon as she woke up from her shock. At least she had to greet the man first or let him in, instead of slamming the door and letting this man wait outside in this cold weather.
Ugh! Would this young man find her disrespectful? If only she could reverse the time, she wouldn't slam the door right at the man's nose.
What can she do? At that time, she really couldn't contain her heart palpitations and her shock. So the first thought that came out was to close the door and run away.
"It's… it's nothing. It's just… ah, I just remembered something I forgot." Chleo bit her lip, hoping Max wouldn't notice her lie.
Ugh! Why did she have to lie? Uh, she's not lying. She did forget her coat and put lipstick on her lips.
Okay. That's a ridiculous excuse.
Luckily the young man couldn't read her mind. Otherwise, she doesn't know where to hide her face.
"Is there nothing else left?"
Chloe shook her head. "I'm ready. Let's go."
"Okay. I parked my car over there."
Then the two of them strolled towards the parking lot side by side.
"Since when are you standing in front of my house? Why don't you knock on the door or ring the bell? Did I make you wait?"
"No. I just came too."
The truth was, Max left his car in this parking lot yesterday. Then he went home using his teleport skill. And only half an hour ago, the keyword 'half an hour ago,' Max arrived here with his teleport and waited for Chleo to come out of this house for half an hour.
How could he let the girl know? Chleo would have looked at him strangely if she had known. That's why Max didn't tell the truth.
Moreover, during this half-hour, he was in a great struggle. He felt an attraction towards Chleo began to arise in his heart. But at the same time, he was still thinking of that maroon-haired girl in his memory.
He still had not found any evidence that the girl in his memory and the girl next to him were the same.
Although little by little, his memories had returned, he still couldn't see what the dark red-haired girl's face looked like.
But one thing he knows. The girl in his memory had a phobia of water and didn't talk much. The girl was even afraid of the dark and heights while Chleo...
Max didn't know whether Chleo was also afraid of the dark or heights or not. But he did not see any light of fear in the girl's eyes.
Max was starting to feel that these two girls weren't the same person.
Fye kept telling him that Chleo was the child he had helped when Chleo was kidnapped in Germany. Unfortunately, Fye can't be sure if Chleo was the same woman with his true love who had red hair.
After all, Fye never met his red-haired wife. The Time Master never met the woman, who had trauma and hated Axelard Cavendish to the bone.
This Chleo was very different from the description of Chleo that Fye had told him.
Nevertheless, Max wished to know more about this lovely and cheerful Chleo.
