-Yui’s POV-

How long has it been since Kazu disappeared?

It must have only been a few minutes but everyone already reached their limits.

Every time the Cerberus attacks, it consumes a lot of magic power and physical strength to fight it off.

If you focus too much on the attack, you will neglect your defense, but if you keep on defending yourself, you will be overwhelmed.

Although there have been no fatalities, nine have already been disabled with broken bones or other injuries.

「Guaa!」

And just now it became 10.

Meanwhile, all three Cerberus heads are still alive and well. One eye has barely been crushed.

The torso has been damaged several times but they all regenerated.

It may not be able to indefinitely recover but we will run out of power first before the Cerberus runs out of its enormous magic power.

It is possible for me to blow off at least one of the heads but at that point, I will run out of magic power.

I would have been happy if the other soldiers could have provided two or three of my firepower but according to my assessment of them, they won’t even be able to provide as much firepower as mine.

In the meantime, one by one, they were losing their ability to fight.

I had them move back to the rear so that the wounded wouldn’t be targeted as I and Axel-san took over the vanguard position.

However, the more people who were unable to fight, the more burden I had to bear.

Cerberus’ fangs were thrust into the shoulder of Axel-san, who had transformed into a rock clad giant.

「Arghhh!」

Axel-san screamed, which means his thick rock armor had been pierced.

It was to his credit that we managed to maintain the front line.

The rearguard team shot at the Cerberus in an attempt to pull it away from him but the Cerberus only narrowed its eyes in annoyance.

If Axel-san was killed at this point, the front line would collapse.

I jumped up and swooped down toward the head of the Cerberus which was biting Axel-san.

Concentrating my magic power on the soles of my feet, I kicked and crushed it.

I felt unpleasant hearing the sound and feeling its skull being crushed but it would soon recover.

This level of damage had been inflicted on it several times.

「Thanks for the help……」

Axel-san came down beside me as I landed.

He must have been bleeding inside the rock.

His complexion was not good.

Still, I couldn’t ask him to pull back and he didn’t seem to intend to do so either.

If we pull back from this point, everyone behind us will be killed for sure.

However, we don’t have the manpower left to buy us more time.

I would rather die than save magic power!

I consciously released the magic power I had been controlling.

If earlier was the pace of a marathon, this time, the output is of a middle distance runner.

It must have reacted to my magic power.

The heads of the Cerberus came toward me all at once.

I kicked one of them away, used the second one as a springboard, and dropped my heel on the third.

During the kick, I pour magic power into the Cerberus causing its head to explode.

As expected, the magic resistance is high!

Normally, it should have the power to blow off the entire head but around 70% remains to its original form.

It will take all of my power to blow it off.

I was tempted to give it my all.

However, that would be betraying Kazu, who would surely come to my rescue.

I will do everything in my power to endure.

Axel-san, who had remained until the end, collapsed, and I was the only one left.

Determination is power.

However, there is a limit.

Perhaps its regeneration is no longer keeping up, the cerberus’ fangs are chipped here and there, and two of its six eyes are crushed.

Even so, from a human’s point of view, it is still an overwhelmingly powerful attacker.

It slobbers and bites down my head and I managed to avoid it by hitting it with the vacuum blade I made with a kick.

However, the moment I landed on the ground, my foot slipped.

It was a stagger caused by fatigue and depletion of magic power.

Seeing an opportunity, the Cerberus attacked me mercilessly.

And I can’t avoid it—-!

Just as I thought so, the cerberus’ head fell to my side with a thud.

Its head was covered in purple blood but I wasn’t aware of that.

He finally came for me.

「Kazu!」

I couldn’t help but shout his name.
