Romeno gripped the cup and handed over a chip.

"This is the information I recently found about the Bayonet Gang, the Night Wanderer's Guild. They are linked to several recent kidnapping incidents. I hope you can find the Bayonet Gang's hideout and give me the information I need. Whether you infiltrate or attack is none of my business."

Vito read the chip, and its contents were very detailed, more detailed than most of the information given by the middlemen in Night City.

"This is a big job, it won't be cheap."

Romeno took out a gold chip.

"This is the deposit. I know this is a big job, so I want the most professional ones. Money is not a problem."

Vito took the money chip.

"You think working in media is so lucrative? Can you take me with you? You know how hard it is for me to earn this money."

Romero took a sip of tequila and said slowly.

"Money? I want the public to know the truth, just like my idol Thompson, who exposed the shady dealings of countless companies."

Vito was taken aback when he heard the name.

"The one who went into Arasaka Tower with Johnny SilverAsh to rescue Ultraman and then got beaten up by Johnny?"

"It's true that he went to rescue Otto Cunningham, but where did you hear that he got beaten up by Johnny Silverhand? It's questionable whether rock kid can even beat Thompson."

Vito smiled and thought to himself after hearing this.

"Johnny, just how much of your memory have you embellished?"

Chapter 63 Weeds

Vito had never heard of the Bayonet Gang in his previous life, but he was familiar with the Chaotic Blade Society, Adcardo's old nemesis.

The wanderers are actually widely distributed, with seven major tribes. According to the information Vito currently has, the Night Wanderers are also widely distributed, at least not just in one branch of the Chaotic Blade Society.

Since we're going to deal with the Night Wanderer, we need to get the Night Wanderer's enemies involved as well.

Vito assessed the difficulty of the mission and told Romeno.

“Night-walking ghosts are not like companies; they are hard to find. I won’t buy you any alcohol for this job. Just wait for news at home.”

Romano knew this job wouldn't be easy, but Vito's team had left a deep impression on him. Rather than waiting for Rogge to find someone in the next life, he decided to go directly to Vito.

"Okay, let me know as soon as there are any developments."

After Romeno left, Vito called Carlo, who was from the Snake Clan, a wandering tribe, and should have had dealings with the Bayonet Gang.

"Hey Vito, I'm still working on your shipment. Could you wait a few more days?"

Carlo thought Vito was calling about the goods; he had been harassed by the Night Wanderer lately and couldn't get any goods, especially the large shipments Vito wanted.

"The goods aren't urgent, Carlo. Do you know the Bayonet Gang?"

Vito explained, and then asked.

"I know, it's the new branch of the Night Wanderer Ghosts from last year. These beasts are specifically targeting us!"

"That makes things easier, Carlo. I have a request that will align our goals: I need to find the Bayonet Gang's headquarters. Do you know where it is?"

Carlo was silent for a moment, then answered.

“Like the Wanderers, the Bayonet Gang often moves their camps. Vito, you can come to the Snake Bond camp. I'll tell you the location, and we'll discuss the Bayonet Gang's affairs when you get there.”

It seems the Snake Gang has been pushed to the brink by the Bayonet Gang. Carlo even told Vito, this outsider mercenary, the location of his own camp. Wanderers are usually very secretive about the location of their camps.

"Okay, send me the location, I'll go there in a bit."

After Carlo sent his location, Vito went straight to the garage behind the wolves and knocked on the door, waking Jack from his dream.

Jack, still half asleep, opened the door with the golden, fierce woman in his hand.

"Vito, what are you doing knocking on my door so early in the morning?"

"We've got work again. We're destined to be busy, but this time we'll be able to raise the money for the Wolf's renovation. The righteous journalist Romeno has handed us another large sum of money."

Jack first ushered Vito into his garage, which also served as his room.

"Come in and have a seat. I was so busy last night that I just went to bed."

"What's wrong? What's making you so worried?"

"It's all because of the Sixth Street Gang. Wild Wolf is now a fairly well-known middleman's spot, but the ones getting the meat are all from the Valentino Gang. The Sixth Street Gang wanted to get involved, so they came to cause trouble yesterday, and the two groups almost started a fight in the bar!"

"If you ask me, after you renovate, you should go to the store and carry two Sany helicopters to the ceiling, and see who dares to cause trouble then."

Jack vacated a sofa for Vito and put on a coat for himself.

"Are you kidding me, Mano? Wild Wolf is a bar! With two heavy machine guns pointed overhead, everyone's going to pee before they even get a sip of their drinks!"

"Then why don't you just put two wolf heads on the outside of the heavy machine gun?"

Jack was stunned after hearing this.

“That’s interesting, Vito. I could never have come up with such a brilliant idea in my entire life.”

Vito noticed the sand table on the table.

"What is this thing? How can it be so ugly?"

Jack was dissatisfied.

"I made this myself. It's a little strange, but it's not ugly, is it? Misty told me that this can absorb my negative energy."

Vito looked around.

"You should really fix up this shack. If I were you, I'd be too embarrassed to bring Misty home."

Jack was fully dressed and armed with his weapons and ammunition.

"Let's not talk about me for now. How are things going between you and Miss Wesley?"

Seeing that Jack was ready, Vito also stood up and prepared to leave.

"Liying and I are working together now. After I finish this job, I'll bring her to work at the logistics company to help out Gloria. We can also work at the logistics company's modification shop. Our orders are getting bigger and bigger, so we need to keep up with the demand."

"I need to modify my magician to be fully bulletproof and add mini missile launchers. Do you need to modify your motorcycle too?"

Jack quickly waved his hand in refusal.

"Forget it, my Kusanagi is my precious treasure. I can't bear to turn it into a mobile artillery emplacement carrying a machine gun."

The two drove the Magician straight to the location Carlo had given them. The Magician was indeed a car born for off-roading; it was more convenient to drive in the wild than in the city.

To avoid any misunderstanding, Vito called Carlo when they were almost at their destination, lest the wanderer, who was suffering from PTSD from the Bayonet Gang, unleash a barrage of shots at the unfamiliar car.

Carlo and his companions had been waiting for Vito's arrival. He had discussed it with Max, the leader of the Serpent Gang. Vito was a powerful mercenary, and perhaps with his help, they could break the stalemate that had dragged them into the mire with the Bayonet Gang.

The current situation in Snake State is that supplies can't get in and goods can't get out. Those bayonet gang members roam the wasteland like a pack of wolves, and they'll take any goods brought by Snake State members.

When Max organized his forces to fight the Bayonet Gang, the Bayonet Gang retreated back to the wasteland.

If they spend all their time organizing people to escort the goods, Snake Gang will run out of money in just a few months.

Just two days ago, the Snake Gang's camp was attacked by the Bayonet Gang, resulting in heavy losses for the Snake Gang. Max risked his life to lead his people out of the encirclement.

Carlo led Vito and Jack to the heavy stunt truck in the middle of the camp, which was the residence of Max, the leader of the Snake Gang. He had taken the truck from the company years ago, all by himself, which proved that Max was definitely a skilled driver in his youth.

"You're Vito? Welcome, I'm Max from the Snake Gang."

Vito thought the name was crazy, and he shook hands with Max.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Chief Max. This is my partner, Jack. I heard we have a common problem, so I came to your camp to see if I could help you.”

Vito had just taken a brief look around the camp and found that although the camp was very large, morale was low and everyone looked dejected.

"I heard from Carlo that you're looking for the Bayonet Gang? We can help our friends with that."

Max was a cunning old fox; he never mentioned that he also needed someone's help.

"I'm sorry, Chief Max, could my partner and I please have something to eat at your camp? We're starving after rushing here. I'm so sorry for the intrusion."

"It's alright, it's alright. I'll have Carlo take you there, and we'll talk again after we eat."

After finishing his meal, Vito mentioned that he was a gun enthusiast and wanted to see the equipment that vagrants usually don't have in the city. Carlo and the others then took him on a tour.

After circling the camp for a while, Vito returned to Max's heavy motorcycle.

"Alright, Chief Max, we can now discuss cooperation properly. Your camp is being bleed dry by the Bayonet Gang, and I can help you."

Chapter 64 No More Hesitation

After touring around, Vito gained a deeper understanding of the Snakesbill camp.

This camp, built in the wilderness, lacked water, electricity, and heavy firepower.

It was clearly a newly moved temporary camp. The food options were limited, consisting mostly of protein chunks that were barely enough to fill your stomach.

Some of them still had fresh wounds, and a few were arguing about fuel.

The children at the camp huddled inside their tents, and no one dared to come out to chase and play.

The entire camp is now eerily quiet, likely because it was attacked by the Bayonet Gang some time ago.

Therefore, Vito could choose not to seek Max's help and slowly find the Bayonet Gang's stronghold on his own, but Max could not. He was spending a lot of money every day feeding and caring for the Snake Gang, and without a safe camp and stable supplies, the Snake Gang would completely collapse in 2077.

Max knew perfectly well that Vito was using the excuse of wandering around the camp to test his mettle. He couldn't stop Vito, because a group of demoralized wanderers couldn't be a triumphant army.

He just wanted to see how many problems Vito could spot, and whether Vito was as amazing as the rumors suggested.

"Alright, Chief Max, we can now discuss cooperation properly. Your camp is being bleed dry by the Bayonet Gang, and I can help you."

“Oh? How so? You may not understand us wanderers, we…”

Vito interrupted Max.

“You were attacked not long ago and lost a lot of things, but it doesn’t matter. As long as we find the Night Wanderer’s camp, we can get those things back.”

"Give me information about the Bayonet Gang, and come with me to their hideout. We'll wipe them out in one fell swoop."

Max also interrupted Vito.

"Things aren't as simple as you think. To be honest, the Bayonet Gang has a company behind them, and they have a lot of combat robots. Our people were already at a disadvantage in terms of firepower in the last battle."

We, the people of Snake State, are not cowards. We would not leave our homeland unless absolutely necessary.

Moreover, the Bayonet Gang members are similar to vagrants; even if you find a camp, they can quickly move on, making it very difficult to wipe them all out.

Vito stroked his chin, summarizing the information he had gathered.

The company behind the Bayonet Gang is probably a biotechnology company. The only support the biotechnology company provides to the Bayonet Gang is likely funding. The Bayonet Gang's combat robots are probably not top-of-the-line products; they are likely just civilian security modifications sold by companies like Comtasia or Military Technology.

"Are their robots from Composite or military technology?"

"The Comtomin 3, but it may have been fitted with combat chips. These robots are all ridiculously powerful."

Vito immediately had an idea upon hearing this.

"If you can take down the robots, can you storm the Night Wanderers' lair?"

Max made a mental calculation and then said.

"No."

"I'm glad you're being honest with me now, but to be honest, Max, it's really dampening my enthusiasm."

Vito said helplessly.

"Why? Didn't you say before that the Bayonet Gang's robots were the reason they were at a disadvantage?"

Jack was puzzled.

"Because the Bayonet Gang scum attacked our camp last time, we lost a lot of heavy firepower, and now none of us have many decent weapons."

Carlo explained.

"I can contact Adcardo, which is a good option, but I'll have to wait."
