American comics: From Hogwarts to God on Earth

Chapter 35 Be Careful of Yourself

Unfortunately, the Sling Ring cannot be used in the DC Universe, probably because it requires binding to certain Marvel deities. Rune sighed, then opened Deadpool's gift box, only to find a small medal inside with a simple line drawing of Deadpool's face.

[Deadpool Medal: Wearing it will make you recognized as one of Deadpool's.]

The system is quite humorous. Rune thought to himself as he took the medal out of the box, but a slip of paper fell out. The note on it was very simple, containing only four words: "Be careful."

Upon seeing these four words, Rune immediately thought of the Skrulls from Marvel. Skrulls can freely change their appearance, disguise themselves as another person, and even copy their memories; while the Super Skrulls can even copy the abilities of the person they are imitating.

But Rune thought about it carefully and felt something was off. Even if Skrulls really appeared in DC, it wouldn't warrant Deadpool repeatedly reminding him to go back and dismantle it. After all, he had sent Mr. Fantastic Reed back to his original dimension, and Reed had once created a machine that could expose the Skrulls in a very short time. Moreover, Deadpool's emphasis on going back and dismantling it also implied that there were enemy informants in the Marvel universe. What kind of creature could possibly warrant Deadpool's reminder?

Keeping his doubts to himself, Rune burned the note and used teleportation to return to the farm from the grove.

Martha was lying on the sofa watching TV. The town's television station was broadcasting trivial news; in this peaceful place, even the loss of a cow would be widely reported. Martha's chin kept nodding; she looked like she was about to fall asleep.

Seeing this, Rune quietly went upstairs, opened the door, and checked the time. He realized that only a day had passed, and it was only noon. The room was empty; at this time, Clark should be at school.

Rune then put down the backpack that the levitation cloak had transformed into and began to tally up his spoils. The Ultimate Eraser, needless to say, was his greatest achievement this trip, having been able to kill Cassandra, who possessed top-tier mind control abilities, under Rune's magical infusion.

Next should be the shattered Mjolnir...

By this time, the magical artifact that had transformed back into a cloak, draped over Rune's back, covered his eyes. Well, the levitation cloak was quite intelligent; Rune could only rank it as the second biggest gain of this trip. However, what he was most satisfied with about the levitation cloak was its ability to transform into various clothes, requiring only a little magic and imagination. He didn't want to end up like those half-baked heroes in the Watchers, getting stuck in a revolving door and shot to death, or simply being turned into dumpling filling by a propeller because of the cloak.

The second-ranked levitation cloak happily rubbed Rune's face, then instantly transformed into a khaki trench coat. Rune waved his hand, and the trench coat turned black again. The khaki trench coat was the exclusive attire of a certain scumbag mage; although Rune didn't consider himself a good person, he didn't think he was scum either.

Third, of course, is Thor's hammer, which was just overtaken by the Cloak of Levitation. Although it was shattered, its handle was made from a branch of the World Tree, and the main body of the hammer was made of Uru metal, a metal that can be imbued with a large amount of magic and energy, making it a very suitable material for crafting.

As for the giant revolver, the sling ring, and the bow that appeared to have been used by Hawkeye, they are basically collector's items. The purpose of the secondary adamantium alloy is still unclear. Rune discovered that it is difficult to imbue with magic like uru metal, and it is not sensitive to energy; its only characteristic is its exceptional hardness. Perhaps it could be used as a coating? This would seem to both prevent magic from dissipating and enhance the hardness of objects. However, those are things that need to be tested later.

Rune put these things away, increasingly feeling the need to learn the Unseen Stretch Charm. If he had a large personal storage space, he could simply take that huge 20th-century Sherlock Holmes logo with him. Even if he couldn't turn it into materials, it would be quite useful for defense. But unfortunately, the Unseen Stretch Charm wasn't as easily acquired as the Fiendfyre Charm. The latter was completely opened up for learning during the fight against the Death Eaters, but the former had always been strictly controlled. Officially, it was prohibited because it would violate the International Wizarding Secrecy Act, but Rune didn't think that was the main reason. Moreover, he believed the Unseen Stretch Charm was even more terrifying than the Fiendfyre Charm. After all, what if a spy used the Unseen Stretch Charm to stuff a large group of Death Eaters into a briefcase and carry out a decapitation plan for the Ministry of Magic?

Furthermore, the original work mentions only a few people who can use this magic. For example, Ron's father cast the Unseen Extension Charm on his car. If Rune were to ask directly, he would definitely be refused; Ron is the Director of the Department for the Prohibition of the Misuse of Muggle Objects and has already been investigated for violating the International Wizarding Secrecy Act, so he wouldn't continue to break the law. He wouldn't even be allowed to use the car that was being studied. That car is currently wandering around the Forbidden Forest, and nobody knows its exact location.

Dumbledore certainly could. Later, among his belongings, the beaded pouch for Hermione was imbued with the Unseen Stretching Charm. But how could he ask Dumbledore to teach him? Rune sat down, stroking his chin. Perhaps the information about Barty Crouch Jr.'s escape could be used in a different way? Although, given Dumbledore's personality, even if he told him, he wouldn't punish the Death Eater. He still needed Barty to resurrect Voldemort. Dumbledore probably knew Harry was also a Horcrux Voldemort when he saw Harry's Parsley voice. But knowing is always better than not knowing, right?

Thinking this, Rune casually began crafting a puppet. The note Deadpool left behind gave him a sense of urgency. Erica had five left over from using the alien puppets, and Rune had taken two. He would leave those two for Jonathan and Martha, and make another one for Clark. Clark's weaknesses were too obvious. Besides, the alien puppets were only meant for them to escape in emergencies; the puppets meant to buy time couldn't be made of inferior materials. So, even though it hurt, Rune still used a small portion of Uru metal as material for the puppet.

As for the appearance... Rune thought about it and finally decided to continue using the Doomsday look. However, when he tried to use magic to change the Uru metal, he found that the magic required for transformation was quite large. One Doomsday puppet consumed almost half of Rune's magic.

Sighing, Rune glanced out the window at the bright sunshine. However, his mood wasn't great. Forging Uru metal in the normal way would require stellar-level heat, which explained Rune's high mana consumption. Fortunately, Uru metal wasn't the main material; otherwise, this puppet upgrade would have been quite difficult.

As the puppets were being crafted, time quickly reached 4:30. Rune had only created three puppets, using stones from outside the farm and three finger-sized pieces of Uru metal. However, these puppets could withstand far greater magical intensity than the previous ones; the two most complete were estimated to be able to hold their own against a drug-addled Bain—provided, of course, that Bain didn't use his evil intellect. Furthermore, these puppets were perfectly capable of withstanding the magical distortion that would occur if the shrinking attempt failed. Next, naturally, was to create his own puppet.
