Chapter 91 Snape's Future

At this moment, Professor Flitwick and Professor Snape also came down.

"That's a very serious accusation!" Professor Flitwick, with his short legs, rushed up to Umbridge, panting, and said, "I don't believe you either!"

Professor Snape slowly walked up to Rune, looking at him with a complex expression. Reason told him that Rune was indeed someone who could do such a thing, but his emotions told him that even if Rune had really killed many wizards and Muggles, there must be a hidden story behind it.

So Snape chose to go directly to Rune and see if he had truly become a terrible dark wizard.

Snape didn’t even doubt that he had killed many wizards—he thought Rune was capable of it, it was that simple.

In fact, Snape believed that in both Charms and Transfiguration, perhaps only Dumbledore could truly surpass him. Rune's talent and effort in these areas were unmatched by ordinary students and even many wizards.

"You doubt me?" Rune looked at Snape calmly, a smile on his face.

Snape nodded. As the head of Slytherin, he had observed Rune quite carefully and understood his temperament.

Overall, Rune is a pretty good person. He has a certain level of empathy, is able to recognize the consequences of his actions, and is good at thinking from other people's perspectives. This can actually be seen from the timing of his questions—Rune never asks questions close to mealtimes or right after class ends; instead, he specifically checks the schedule until he determines which professor is available during a particular time slot.

So even though Rune wasn't a student like Hermione who got zeros in all subjects, all the professors had a good impression of him. And in his first year, even though he forgot Christmas, he made a point of writing apology letters and sending them to every professor and classmate. And as far as he knew, every professor's apology letter was different. He figured the students' apology letters would be different too.

However, he had a bottom line, which Snape knew very well. Anyone who dared to cross that line would be severely punished. For example, the Slytherins. When the third-year students first surrounded him, although Rune punished them, he ultimately gave them face by not spreading the news directly, but instead accepting the punishment himself. And this was only because some students who shouldn't have been Slytherins spread the word.

The second time, however, the Slytherins who had insulted the professor and other students were taken into custody and forced to apologize, losing both face and dignity.

So what if someone crosses Rune's line? Given Rune's personality, what will that guy do? Snape already had the answer in his heart, but he still walked over, pursing his lips as he looked at Rune.

He was the one who taught Rune how to use Occlumency and Legilimency, so it was only right that he see what Rune had been doing all this time.

To his dismay, Rune actually nodded in agreement. He seemed calm, as if he hadn't actually done any of those things. But when Snape read his memories, a terrible feeling welled up inside him.

He saw it all—the miserable state of those poor wizards, the instruments of torture used to torment them, the nauseating, emerald-green potion, and the emotions Rune felt when he tasted it.

He saw the soldiers' hesitation, Murdoch's kindness, and the soldiers reminding Rune and the others of the power of their weapons, but he also saw the ugly faces of those bloated, fat high-ranking officials.

He also saw Rune's rage, that immeasurable power, an ability that should never have appeared in a wizard, and his madness—he had made a father kill his own son.

Snape stared in shock into Rune's eyes. He wanted to refuse to look into his memories, but Rune gently took his hand, pulled a translucent, hair-like thing from his brain, and inserted it into his body.

This time, he saw something different. Snape saw Dumbledore killed by him, saw himself appointed Headmaster, saw himself killed by a giant snake. Snape knelt and staggered backward, his already somber face now seemingly covered in frost. His dull skin turned deathly pale in an instant, as if all the blood had been drained from it. His deep eyes widened slightly, filled with shock and disbelief. Beads of sweat streamed down his face; Snape's mind was a jumbled mess.

Rune stood up and walked over to Umbridge. McGonagall and Flitwick both wanted to shield Rune behind them, but Rune gave them a reassuring look.

At this moment, the woman dressed entirely in pink strode closer to Rune, each step slamming into the floor with a loud "crack" as her high heels struck the floor. Her chin was slightly raised, her eyes glancing sideways at Rune with disdain and arrogance, as if Rune himself were the one being trampled.

Behind her, Fudge also displayed a look of disappointment and frustration. His eyes narrowed slightly, his lips trembled slightly, as if he were suppressing his inner grief. He would occasionally take a deep breath and then slowly exhale: "You have really disappointed me, Rune."

The pink clam nodded after hearing his words, but her smugness was written all over her face.

Upon learning that Rune had received the Order of Merlin, and the highest-ranking one at that, Umbridge smashed countless plates and tore countless handkerchiefs to shreds. "It's just a worthless medal! It's just discovering a new direction in potions development! What's so great about that!"

And now, she was actually able to stand before this Merlin Medal recipient and thoroughly humiliate him, which thrilled Umbridge beyond measure. So, after Fudge expressed his disappointment, she shouted excitedly.

"We suspect you of violating the Secret Law, harming and killing multiple Muggles, and even murdering numerous wizards. Do you have anything to say before you go to Wizengamot to stand trial!" Umbridge's voice was exceptionally high-pitched, with a sharp tone, each word seeming to proclaim her "authority."

She deliberately ignored Professor McGonagall's face, which was flushed with anger, and Professor Flitwick, who was shouting "Impossible!" Instead, she stared intently at Rune.

I didn't expect him to be so handsome. If he's willing to be my gigolo, maybe I can put in a good word for him.

As she thought this, a happy smile appeared on her face.

"Nothing to say, those people deserve to die."
