Chapter 95 Human Balloons and the Mission of a New Generation of Wizards
Umbridge's panic revealed a secret deep within her heart to Rune. This pink toad was collaborating with certain pure-blood families to hunt down non-pure-blood wizards. Moreover, some members of these pure-blood families were even coming to Hogwarts to check the names of young wizards listed in the Book of Admission and the Notebook of Admission, and then abducting them beforehand.
After being forcibly given truth serum, the woman kept her lips tightly pursed, her thick lips pressed together.
She tried desperately to stop the words that were about to break through her defenses. But under Rune's repeated questioning, she finally confessed everything she had done.
"I knew she wasn't a good person!" Ron said with a "see, I told you so" look, then picked up a pudding and started eating. The others also began loudly cursing the Deputy Minister of Magic.
McGonagall and Flitwick glared angrily at the short, stout woman. Snape, on the other hand, seemed unsurprised, thinking that perhaps the Death Eaters of yesteryear also profited from wizards, and maybe the sales channels were passed down from that time.
Rune, expressionless, placed his hand on Umbridge's shoulder, unleashing a massive surge of magical power. The woman beneath him began to beg for mercy, screaming for Rune to spare her, a far cry from the arrogance she had displayed upon her arrival. But the Aurors hanging above their heads instead shouted, demanding that Rune kill the woman completely.
Her pleas for mercy did not soften Rune's heart, and the terrifying transfiguration spell continued to be cast. The woman's skin was gradually becoming transparent, as if shrouded in a thin layer of light. Umbridge's originally short and stout body became more spherical. Soon, her entire body's skin turned transparent, and Snape and the other two professors, who were closer to her, could even see the muscle texture of Umbridge.
"I have something to tell you ladies and gentlemen here today." Rune continued to channel his magic into the ugly woman. He looked at the students at the long tables: "Thousands of years ago, our ancestors fought to the death against those magical creatures, carving out a territory for wizards for future generations."
Centuries ago, our professors’ professors, with their staffs and swords, opened Hogwarts for us young wizards, allowing us to break free from the old, exploitative, and unfair master-apprentice system, and selflessly share their knowledge so that all wizards could learn true, invaluable knowledge.
Over these decades, countless wizards have continuously resisted the Malays and Death Eaters in the name of justice and righteousness.
Rune's voice reached everyone's ears.
"Every generation of wizards has its own mission, and they all bleed and weep for their ideals. I can't help but ask,
"Can we find our own destiny?" Rune's words silenced all the wizards. The thousand or so people in the hall watched him quietly, waiting for his next words.
"Just recently, I learned the mission of our generation of wizards," Rune said loudly. He looked at the expressions of the young wizards; some were expectant, some worried, some excited, and some thoughtful. Even the professors began to ponder his words.
"I saw wizards betrayed by their own people, and I saw Muggles torment our fellow wizards. But I also saw wizards tirelessly pursuing justice, and Muggles who felt compassion but could not disobey orders from their superiors."
"This is the mission of our generation of wizards—" Rune said as he walked behind Umbridge, who seemed to be covered in red ink balloons, and gave him a gentle push.
Snape stood behind Rune, not even glancing at Umbridge. McGonagall and Flitwick, standing in front of Rune, both turned their heads away, unwilling to look at Umbridge's pleading eyes.
"We need to redefine our relationship with Muggles. We need to unite all forces that can be united to completely eliminate the small number of bad people within our own ranks and among the Muggles."
*Thud!* Umbridge crashed onto the rubble-strewn ground and burst like a real balloon. Blood, muscle, and internal organs spilled everywhere, but miraculously, there were no bones left; it was as if everything supporting Umbridge's body had turned into a balloon.
Screams erupted in the hall, but others shouted "Good riddance!" The young wizards had never been tempered by society.
They are rather simple-minded; in their basic understanding, good people should be rewarded, while bad people should be sent to Azkaban or even executed on the spot.
However, amidst these discussions, Rune keenly sensed that some students held Muggles in contempt. Even as he mentioned uniting all forces that could be united, some Slytherin students were still discussing amongst themselves, their disdain for Muggles even written on their faces.
He knew that these students were questioning whether Muggles had the ability to harm them.
In the age of flintlock muskets, Muggles actually had a hard time harming these Hogwarts students. Dumbledore's improved ritual magic transformed the excitement of the older students, the younger students' longing for the Sorting Ceremony, their fear, and their inherent restlessness and unrestrained magic into normalized defensive magic. This ritual magic, involving thousands of people, was more than powerful enough to withstand attacks from arrows and even firearms.
But now, Muggles have submachine guns with high rates of fire and sniper rifles with extremely high damage and long range.
There are also terrifying missiles and even nuclear bombs. Hogwarts' protection is barely enough to handle submachine guns, let alone the latter two. And most wizards' impression of Muggle weapons is still stuck in the flintlock era; they still think Muggles are weak and easily bullied.
"I know some of you might doubt whether Muggles are capable of harming themselves, but I want to say—" Rune pulled out a cigarette-sized magnetic field generator and pressed the switch. The magnetic field instantly spread out, suppressing the spellcasting abilities of everyone present. Those wizards with stronger spellcasting or sensory abilities noticed the anomaly immediately.
The Aurors stared in shock at the magnetic field generator in Rune's hand. Almost the instant the magnetic field was generated, they sensed something was amiss; the magic flowing within them instantly became sluggish. Hermione, Harry, and the others also frowned; they felt something was wrong, but couldn't pinpoint what it was.
The professors present stared intently at the object in Rune's hand. Like the Aurors, they knew what it was for and what kind of impact it would have on wizards.
"These are the weapons that Muggles created after researching wizards." Rune glanced at the expressions of those around him, paused briefly, and then continued, "Now, you can test whether your spells still work, see if your wands still respond to summons, and then think carefully about whether Muggles are still as weak and easily bullied as before!"
