Angel investor in the One Piece world

Chapter 16 Target: Cocoa Village!

If we were to choose the must-see attraction in Loguetown, the execution platform in the town's central square would undoubtedly be the answer for many without hesitation.

A four-wheeled carriage slowly drove past the edge of the square.

Guina drew back the curtains and gazed at the seemingly ordinary high platform in the distance.

"Don't you get tired of seeing this every time you come?"

Damian sat opposite her and spoke calmly.

This was certainly not Guina's first time visiting Loguetown.

Two years ago, after comprehending the state of the breath of all things, Master Koushirou said that there was nothing more he could teach Damian, so Damian chose to return home.

At that time, Guina chose to leave with Damian.

It was on that return journey that Damian was attacked by the Black Cat Pirates, which led to his deal with Kuro.

After arriving in Loguetown, Guina stayed at Moretti's house for a month before setting sail to begin her challenge.

She also came back to see Damian several times during those two years.

"I have a different feeling every time I watch it."

Kuina didn't even turn her head. "When I first came to Loguetown, I didn't think the Pirate King was anything special."

"But the more you understand this world, the more you realize how terrifying the Grand Line is, the more you can recognize just how remarkable the Pirate King's achievements are."

"Damian,"

She turned around and said, "Tell me more about the execution of the Pirate King."

"How many times have you heard this?"

Damian sighed, "Do I have to listen to this every time I come?"

Even so, Damian couldn't help but fall into his memories.

He was born through a transmigration, so he still remembers clearly the day he was almost a year old when his father held him and went to watch the execution ceremony of the Pirate King.

There were so many people that day, people from all over the world gathered here. Damian saw many familiar faces among them: the future world's greatest swordsman, the Shichibukai who had already begun to make a name for themselves, and the revolutionaries who had not yet taken action.

Needless to say, the Navy also had the strongest forces, with Hero Garp and Sengoku personally leading the charge.

But all of them paled in comparison to that man.

He attracted everyone's attention simply by taking a step forward.

Damian witnessed firsthand the moment when the Great Pirate Era began.

There is indeed a lot of debate about what kind of person Gol D. Roger was.

He was certainly not a good person. No good person would act so recklessly, destroying an entire country's army simply because a comrade was insulted.

But he was indeed a remarkable man.

For eight hundred years, the world had been like a stagnant pool, but he alone stirred up a storm.

At that time, Damian, who was less than a year old, had only one thought.

As a true man, this is what you should do.

Having been so fortunate to come into this world, wouldn't it be a waste of God's gift if we didn't stir up some trouble?

Damian recounted the execution from nineteen years ago to his junior sister once again.

"I still find it a little hard to imagine,"

Kuina looked at Damian with a strange expression. "Memories from when you were less than a year old, how can they be so vivid?"

"I am different."

Damian didn't care at all and just shrugged.

There are countless freaks in this world, so what's so special about him?

"Tsk."

Kuina clicked her tongue slightly. "And then? Weren't you supposed to help me find a navigator? Where are we going now?"

"I promised a friend I'd do him a favor."

Damian tidied his hair. "If nothing unexpected happens, we'll run into the navigator on our way to help."

"oh."

Guina did not press the matter further.

Since Damian has already said that, there must be no problem.

The carriage carried the two across the entire town of Loguetown and soon arrived at the gates of the Loguetown Naval Base.

The entire base is built along the sea and separated from the residential area by high walls.

Behind the wall is the base building with the words "Justice" written in large characters on the front, and next to it is a military port with more than a dozen warships docked.

The carriage stopped in front of the base gate. Damian and Kuina had just gotten out of the carriage when a marine who had been waiting at the gate came to greet them.

"Welcome, Mr. Damian!"

The navy officer, dressed in a coat of justice and wearing the epaulettes of a captain, had a fawning smile, his eyes narrowing into slits on his chubby face.

"You came all this way in person, couldn't you have just told me if there was anything you needed?"

Guina turned her head and glanced at Damian in surprise.

Damian certainly knew what she meant.

You don't even know how much money I've bribed the marines at this base over the years.

"I need to speak with Colonel James about something."

Damian was calm and serene.

"Understood, understood. I've already had someone inform the colonel. Please come with me!"

He led the two into the base, and along the way, many officers greeted Damian warmly.

"What exactly did you do to them?"

Kuina found it hard to contain her curiosity. "I almost thought you were the commander of this base."

Damian said calmly, "You know, Guina, I'm pretty good at making friends."

Kuina's lips twitched slightly. "Do you think I'm an idiot?"

But it didn't matter. In the past two years, she had seen both upright and corrupt navy personnel.

Soon, in the base commander's office on the top floor of the base building, Damian met Colonel James, whom he hadn't seen for some time.

As the chubby captain left the office, he winked and said, "You two chat as much as you want! No one will bother you!"

The office door closed.

Damian saw that Colonel James's face had darkened, and he said irritably, "Damian, what do you want from me now?"

During this time, he did some research and finally realized the extent to which Damian had corrupted the base.

One-third of the officers had received gifts from the Moretti family to varying degrees!

What a terrifying number!

In the past, James would have called headquarters immediately and sent Damian to Enies Lobby for trial.

It's just a pity that there's nothing he can do now; he can only pretend he didn't see it.

"Don't be so cold, Colonel. Aren't we friends?"

Damian chuckled and pulled Guina to sit on the sofa beside him, crossing his legs with the elegance of a seasoned opera singer. "Didn't I resolve the crisis as agreed?"

The old colonel was speechless.

Although it's unclear where Damian got the funds, the crisis at those two banks has indeed been contained.

"That's really a pity."

Damian sighed, his melancholy voice seeming to freeze the air. "Even so, I can't even earn a friend?"

"Damian!"

The old colonel's withered hands clenched the desk so tightly they cracked, his knuckles white and bluish, as if he were about to break a piece off the mahogany tabletop at any moment.

He was a man of considerable experience, but he truly had no idea how to deal with Damian.

"What exactly are you here for?"

"I promised you I would help Lieutenant Riel get a better future, and I took it very seriously, so I came to let you know as soon as I had any news."

Damian suddenly leaned forward, his shadow like raven feathers covering his smiling eyes. "But Colonel, you've hurt me."

The old colonel's body trembled instantly, his buttocks springing up as if springs had been inserted into them. His voice trembled, "Damian, are you serious?"

"Colonel,"

Damian just looked at him. "You still have at least one thing to say to me."

"..."

Colonel James hesitated, his Adam's apple bobbing with difficulty. "I'm sorry, Damian... my friend, I was wrong."

"Excellent! Of course I forgive you, Colonel."

Damian's face lit up with a warm smile, as comforting as the spring sunshine. "The most important thing between friends is tolerance."

The old colonel's lips twitched, and he managed a weak smile.

He knew that from then on, he would never be able to hold his head high in front of Damian again.

"I know you're eager, so I won't keep you in suspense any longer."

Damian said, "Get ready, call Lieutenant Riel, we're going to Cocoyasi village."

"Cocoa West Village?"

The colonel paused, trying hard to recall, but it didn't matter. "Where is that?"

"It doesn't matter where it is, the important thing is who is there."

Damian said, "Colonel, do you like shark fin soup? Let's go shark fishing."
