Hogwarts: Who made her a professor?
Chapter 460 Still Not Sleepy
Chapter 460 Still Not Sleepy
Falconry is an ancient method of falconry that involves making falcons more obedient by preventing them from sleeping.
Belvina didn't know the specific methods for training eagles, but she mastered the skill of training old men without any instruction.
Belvina, adhering to the principle that if she herself is uncomfortable, she will not let others have an easy time either, decided to stay in the headmaster's office and not leave. Did Dumbledore dare to leave her here alone?
Having made up her mind, Belvina sat there motionless, occasionally speaking a few words, sometimes about trivial family matters, and sometimes about academic issues.
In short, finding topics to talk about is to prevent Dumbledore from having many reasons to stay.
Of course, even if Dumbledore told her to leave, Belvina would stubbornly refuse to go.
Whenever Dumbledore, who was over a hundred years old, showed even the slightest sign of drowsiness, Belvina would deliberately make noise to forcefully help the old man regain his energy.
What's even more outrageous is that Bellevue feigned concern and asked Dumbledore if he needed a rest, or if he needed coffee or strong tea to perk himself up, and if he was really tired, he could go and rest first.
Whenever Belvina feigned concern, Dumbledore could see a smug look on her smiling face; she was shrewd and calculating.
Dumbledore, being the cunning old fox he was, knew perfectly well that she was seeking revenge—a revenge that was both vile and childish.
Knowing it was revenge, Dumbledore dared not leave Belvina alone in the headmaster's office. Who knew if leaving her alone would invite even more severe retaliation, or if she would tear down the entire office in a fit of anger.
"Let her vent, let her get over it. Once she's calmed down, she'll be fine," Dumbledore thought wearily.
And so, the two big shots of the magical world began to torment each other in the principal's office, as if whoever couldn't resist dozing off first would lose.
However, Belvina is a young woman born in the 1960s. Although she hasn't had enough rest in the past month, she is young and can endure it.
Born in the last century, Dumbledore was no match for him. Although he was a powerful wizard, he could not withstand the ravages of time. The energy of a centenarian was naturally not as great as that of a young man in his thirties, and he gradually became unable to keep up.
The young people who had successfully outlasted the elderly were beaming with joy, while the elderly, who were gradually losing their strength, looked exhausted.
Although the area outside the window was still pitch black, the distant horizon had already begun to show a silvery-gray hue.
Seeing Dumbledore's eyelids drooping, Belvina, moved by compassion, stood up and, as the victor, decided to end this torment.
But before leaving the headmaster's office, Belvina felt it necessary to tighten the reins on Dumbledore, lest the old man do nothing but wander around all day.
"professor!"
Belvina's sudden words startled the dozing Dumbledore.
"Professor, it's foreseeable that the Department of Mysteries will be invaded many more times. Voldemort won't give up until he gets the Prophecy Orb."
Exhausted, Dumbledore nodded slowly. Although he was already aware of Belvina's bad temper, he still didn't expect her to force the centenarian to stay up all night with him.
"It's anyone's guess that Voldemort will personally go to the Department of Mysteries at any time. Once he gets his hands on the prophecy orb, the current probing will turn into a full-scale war. We must prepare in advance to avoid being caught off guard."
Belvina was reminding Dumbledore that he needed to speed up what he was doing and finish it as soon as possible.
"I am still searching for Horace," Dumbledore said slowly. "Horace is of vital importance to us."
Horace Slughorn, former Head of Slytherin House and Potions Professor at Hogwarts, was a Slytherin with quintessential Slytherin traits.
In Belvina's view, Professor Slughorn was like a fat, large spider who spent his life weaving a vast network of connections, and getting to know successful people was probably his favorite thing in life.
"Professor, why are you so fixated on Professor Slughorn?" Belvina asked. "Is it because of his achievements in potions, or his unimaginably deep connections?"
"Neither." Dumbledore slowly shook his head. "You should know that Horace is a man who enjoys material pleasures, and he also likes to associate with important people."
Belvina nodded; that was exactly how she knew Horace Slughorn.
"If you were Horace, how would you view Voldemort in his student days?" Dumbledore continued. "Tom Riddle in his student days was outstanding in both appearance and talent; no one disliked him."
"Treasure it?" Belvina thought for a moment. "Although the Riddle name isn't particularly prestigious, Professor Slughorn has excellent judgment. He'll definitely be able to see Voldemort's extraordinary qualities."
"That's right." Dumbledore nodded. "I warned Horace not to be used by Tom, but Horace didn't heed my advice. He has his pride."
As Belvina said, Horace Slughorn was a man with a very keen eye; he could always spot and discover people with outstanding talents.
Although Horace Slughorn was born into one of the Twenty-Eight Pureblood Houses, he was not a pureblood supremacist. Horace valued talent more than bloodline.
"Unfortunately, Tom Riddle was one of Horace's most favored students." Dumbledore took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes. "Fortunately, we might be able to learn more about Voldemort's past from Horace."
Dumbledore believed that understanding Voldemort's past would be helpful in finding the Horcruxes and in defeating Voldemort in the future.
He continued, "Besides, Horace's potion-making skills are exceptional, and for both public and private reasons, he cannot fall into Voldemort's hands."
From an official standpoint, Horace Slughorn is a Potions Master with extensive connections. If Voldemort were to successfully recruit such a person, it would be a disastrous outcome.
Personally, Horace Slughorn was an old friend of Dumbledore's, and Dumbledore would certainly offer him help, protect his safety, and provide him with a place to stay in the chaos.
Whether from the perspective of defeating Voldemort or from the perspective of their personal friendship, Dumbledore wanted to find his old friend who had been hiding and try to persuade him to return to Hogwarts.
"After all this time, still not a single clue?" Belvina asked. "Where could he be hiding?"
"No news at all." Dumbledore shook his head again. "I think he realized he was in danger a long time ago, which is why he went into hiding and didn't contact anyone."
Although the land area of Daiying is only over 200,000 square kilometers, it is still very difficult for someone to be found if they really want to hide. It is not much different from finding a needle in a haystack.
"I think," Dumbledore continued, "that Horace is hiding because he holds Voldemort's secrets and he's afraid Voldemort will kill him to silence him."
"Hordeals?" Belvina reacted quickly. Voldemort's most important secret was the Horde, the key to his survival.
"I'm not sure, but I think so," Dumbledore said. "I went to Horace's house; he left in a hurry and didn't have time to take many things with him."
If Horace Slughorn knew anything about Horcruxes, finding him would be a much higher priority than protecting the Prophecy Orb.
Belvina always felt that the prophecy ball was a burden, and the best solution was to smash it to pieces, so shattered that it couldn't be put back together.
"Do you need any help?" Belvina asked. "I can have my men help search."
"No need," said Dumbledore. "That would only alert Horace, allowing him to hide even deeper, making it even harder for us to find him."
Belvina pouted in dissatisfaction. Voldemort was hiding, Horace Slughorn was hiding, why did they all have to hide and not be seen?
Where exactly is the problem? Is it a problem with all wizards, or is it only Slytherin?
Why do we have to play hide-and-seek? Can't we just stand up and have a fair fight?
impatient!
Perhaps due to insufficient rest, Belvina has become somewhat irritable lately.
"Patience, Belvina, you must be more patient," Dumbledore said slowly. "Only when all the Horcruxes are destroyed can the war truly end."
"It's easy for you to say that when you're not the one suffering," Belvina complained, her joy at the resounding success of the Eagle Strategy instantly overshadowed.
"Even sitting down to talk, my back hurts now," Dumbledore said with a sigh.
Belvina also knew that finding clues about Horcruxes was extremely difficult. Not only did she need to determine the number of Horcruxes, but she also needed to determine the carriers and whereabouts of the Horcruxes, which required a great deal of effort and time.
However, Belvina still needed to vent her frustrations, and the only target for her venting was Dumbledore; the students were innocent.
"If there's nothing else, I'll go back and rest," Belvina said, standing up to leave.
"Before I leave, I have some good news to tell you," Dumbledore suddenly said. "When Voldemort obtained Slytherin's locket, he also obtained Hufflepuff's cup."
One can understand the refined meaning by listening to the music.
In other words, Helga Hufflepuff's cup, like Salazar Slytherin's locket, became an evil Horcrux.
Looking at Dumbledore's weary face, Belvina suddenly didn't want to leave. Finding the Horcrux clues was such an important thing, and he'd only revealed it now? It seemed this old man wasn't sleepy at all!
