Chapter 90 Thranduil

"wizard?"

The young elf glanced at the two of them, lingering for a few seconds, especially on the bubbles above their heads.

Then he said something in Elvish to the other elves.

The elves immediately lowered their bows and arrows.

"I am Legolas, son of Thranduil."

"Gandalf the Grey, I have heard of your name. My father said you were a wise man."

Gandalf bowed slightly, the hem of his grey robe brushing against the moss at his feet, his voice carrying a warm smile: "It is my honor to receive such praise from the King of the Woodlands."

He looked up at Legolas, his eyes clear and bright. "Son of Thranduil, you are indeed as sharp as this forest—it seems the winds of Mirkwood have blown your best talents upon you."

Faced with Gandalf's praise, the young Elf Prince appeared somewhat dignified.

He turned his gaze to Dui, his face filled with curiosity: "A while ago we captured some Orks that ran down from the Misty Mountains. From them we learned that the Blasphemer Azog had been killed by a black-robed wizard. You must be the one."

"If there aren't any other black-robed wizards, then it should be me," Dui said with a smile.

Legolas was much less wary of the two at this point, but he still asked:

"What brings the two wizards to this dark forest?"

Knowing that the elves and dwarves of the Woodland Kingdom had a conflict, Gandalf naturally wouldn't say he was looking for the dwarves.

He coughed and explained, "We were preparing to cross the Dark Forest to reach Lake Town, but we encountered the Giant Spider along the way, until you arrived."

Legolas nodded.

"If that's the case, then please come with me. My father would like to see you."

Gandalf and Duy exchanged a glance and did not refuse.

They were also curious whether Bilbo and his companions had fallen into the hands of the elves.

The two followed the elves northward.

The further north you go, the less the dark forest is polluted by the forces of darkness, and the forest regains its vibrant appearance, and the air becomes fresher.

Seeing this, Dui simply removed the bubbly curse from their heads.

The elves of the Woodland Kingdom are mostly Silvan elves, also known as wood elves, whose hair is mainly black and brown.

Compared to other elven races, the Silvan elves are closer to nature, able to connect with the plants and animals of the forest, and are skilled in archery.

They use natural environments such as trees and rivers to hide themselves and even sense threats.

Surprisingly, although the Woodland Kingdom is predominantly inhabited by Silvan elves, it is ruled by a small number of Sindar elves.

King Thranduil of the Elven King and Legolas, both Sindar elves, are distinguished by their golden hair.

The Woodland Kingdom is located in the northeastern part of the Dark Forest, only a few miles from the edge, with the Woodland River flowing past the southern gate.

Unlike the elven architecture of Rivendell, the elves of the Woodland Kingdom live in a magnificent palace built in an underground cave.

The main gate is carved into a hillside covered with maple trees. The two tall stone gates are engraved with magical elven runes, making it difficult for anyone who enters to leave easily.

The two followed Legolas through the gate and into the Pea Tunnel, passing through many checkpoints and passages before arriving at a spacious hall.

At the very center of the hall, at the highest point, sat a throne carved from stone, with enormous elk antlers behind it.

Thranduil, the Elvenking of the Woodland Kingdom, sat on the throne.

He was tall, wearing a crown woven from red leaves and berries, and a magnificent robe. His handsome face carried an air of majesty and arrogance.

"It's been a long time, Mithrandir." Thranduil rose from his throne and stepped down, a polite smile on his face.

"Your Majesty Thranduil," Gandalf said with a slight bow.

Dui also greeted them.

Thranduil's gaze instantly fell on Dui.

"A rare young wizard, you must be Duir, the black-robed wizard who killed Azog? I've heard your legends from distant relatives: the nemesis of corpse demons, the killer of ogres, the natural enemy of the Orks—truly a series of magnificent achievements!"

"The rumors are a bit exaggerated, Your Majesty Thranduil," Dui said, shaking his head.

"Whether it's exaggerated or not, I can still tell," Thranduil waved his hand. "The huge explosion in the forest just now must have been your doing. My elves went to check it out. The woodland within a radius of several hundred meters was razed to the ground, and at least a hundred giant spiders were killed."

"This level of strength is many times greater than the rumors suggest!"

Then, he proudly showed off his son to the two of them, "Speaking of which, you should already know my son, Legolas. He is the best archer in Mirkwood, never missing a shot, and has killed countless giant spiders."

Gandalf, ever the obliging gentleman, joined in the praise, complimenting Legolas on his father's qualities and showering him with compliments.

Dui looked at Thran Dui, whose lips were unconsciously curving upwards, and silently gave Gandalf a thumbs up in his heart.

Gandalf has scratched Thranduil's itch.

For Thranduil, praising his beloved son brought him more joy than praising himself.

Legolas, who was also present, blushed with embarrassment from his father's boasting and Gandalf's constant praise.

Thranduil was delighted and ordered a banquet to be held to entertain Gandalf and Duir, his two guests.

at the banquet,

Thranduil sat in the main seat, Gandalf and Duir were guests, and Legolas was in attendance.

Enjoy a variety of fine wines and delicacies while listening to soothing music.

During the banquet, Thranduil inquired about the purpose of Gandalf and his companions' journey.

"Mislandil, what urgent matter brings you through this Dark Forest?"

Gandalf explained somewhat vaguely, "We're heading to Lake-town."

"Laketown?" Thranduil paused, his hand holding the wine glass still, and narrowed his eyes as he looked at Gandalf and Thranduil. "What is it about Laketown that would attract two wizards to visit?"

"I remember that the residents of Longlake Town were descendants of the survivors of Dale City. When the dragon attacked Lonely Mountain, Dale City at its foot was also destroyed. Some survivors fled to Longlake and established what is now Longlake Town."

"You're going to Changhu Town, is it for the sleeping dragon on Lonely Mountain?"

Seeing that Thranduil had guessed their purpose, Gandalf no longer concealed it and nodded.

"Yes, we are preparing to go to Lonely Mountain to investigate. After all, that giant dragon could awaken at any time, which is a huge hidden danger."

"So, you're cooperating with Thorin Oakenshield? Trying to help them reclaim Lonely Mountain?"

Thranduil frowned, his expression displeased.

Seeing Thranduil's attitude suddenly turn cold, Gandalf felt somewhat helpless, but still seized the opportunity to ask, "Your Majesty Thranduil, have you already met Thorin and the others?"

Thranduil made no attempt to hide anything, coldly stating, "They trespassed into my territory and have been imprisoned in the dungeon."

"You and Duir are guests I invited to this banquet. The Woodland Kingdom welcomes you, but if you wish to plead for the dwarves, then keep your mouth shut!"

Thranduil didn't give Gandalf a chance to plead, ending his conversation abruptly.

Gandalf opened his mouth, but swallowed his words.

Thranduil's attitude was clear: as long as they weren't pleading for the dwarves, they would remain friends.
