Chapter 623, Section 621: The Tall Guy
The raging flames scorched the camp to the ground, leaving behind only white ash.
Sheen crouched down next to Sirius and saw his hand tightly gripping the magic mirror, his voice weak.
"Don't worry, Mr. Green, he's not dead yet."
The magic mirror in his hand was already bright red, indicating that its hidden function was about to be activated.
"You should have used it sooner."
Sheen said, his eyes lowered.
"Ha! Then these two guys are going to get away—cough cough—"
Sirius coughed violently, and a little blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
The magic mirror slowly returned to calm, and the crimson surface gradually became still.
Alchemy, as a unique branch of magic, is not particularly powerful in direct combat, but it is efficient enough in every other aspect.
For example, the sixth-generation magic hand mirror made by Sheen incorporates magical effects that are sure to make people envious.
That was a silent, undetectable teleportation.
Like a portal, the new generation of alchemical artifacts utilizes the properties of the Ball Escape Bird material, granting wizards the ability to escape in any situation.
This is also the first line of defense in their operation.
"Check on Remus, Mr. Green. I'm perfectly fine—"
Sirius managed a forced smile, his head already drooping on his shoulder.
He felt very tired, and the unbandaged wound was still bleeding.
When Sheen Apparated to Lupin, Lupin suddenly reached out his good hand and hugged him.
"Mr. Green, accidents can happen."
He said.
What he didn't mention was that his left hand could no longer reach the Magic Hand Mirror at that time. The reason Sirius didn't retreat but instead desperately lunged forward was to buy him time.
At one point, he truly felt the approach of death.
"I could have avoided it."
Sheen said in a low voice.
"Oh, how could you possibly avoid it, Mr. Green? We can't do everything; we've already done our best, haven't we?"
Lupin felt that the werewolf's sharp fangs were far less distressing than the wizard's gloomy eyes.
He's done enough, hasn't he?
He's still a child.
The doctors at St. Mungo's Hospital practically rushed over.
Sheen turned his head to look outside the camp, his gaze meeting Sklinch's.
His body then twisted and disappeared from the spot.
As he walked deeper and deeper into the dark path, Sheen remained in a daze.
The battlefield is ever-changing, and he underestimated the dark wizard they were about to face.
He saw Lupin's horribly injured left hand and his empty eyes as he fell to the ground.
At that moment, death was real.
Thinking about this, Sheen felt as if something was blocking his chest.
Sheen thought, "This isn't something they should be facing. If the sky falls, the tall ones should be the ones holding it up."
Previously, this tall man was Headmaster Dumbledore; now it's him.
On the way, he saw a group of goblins chattering and laughing over a bag of gold coins, oblivious to the commotion at the camp. These gold coins were undoubtedly the ones they had won gambling in the competition.
He walked a little further and stepped into a soft, silvery light.
Looking through the bushes, he saw three tall and beautiful Veela standing in a clearing, surrounded by a group of young wizards who were all speaking loudly.
"I earn a hundred bags of gold coins a year!"
One of them shouted, "I work for the Dangerous Animals Disposal Committee, specializing in killing dragons!"
"Pah! You're not!"
His friend yelled, "You wash dishes at the Leaky Cauldron—I'm a vampire hunter, and I've killed over ninety!"
The third wizard interjected, his pimples clearly visible even in the faint silver light emanating from the Veela: "I'm going to be the youngest Minister of Magic in history."
Sheen recognized the pimple-faced wizard: his name was Stan Sampark, and he was the ticket seller on the Knight Bus.
He also saw Ron, who yelled at the group, "Didn't I tell you I invented a flying broom that can fly all the way to Jupiter?"
Now that he had seen Ron, Sheehan felt that he was not far from the professor and the others.
He turned his head and saw Veela's eyes.
"I will save everyone."
Sheen said.
His pupils narrowed in an instant, and his thoughts were pulled back from the Veela's spell.
He glanced at the clearing one last time from afar before disappearing into the dense forest.
What terrified Minerva even more than the Dark Mark was the discovery that a certain dark-haired young wizard had disappeared.
"Severus, have you seen him?"
Snape's face was even more grim than she had imagined.
"Marcus, he was just with you!"
The old wizard looked around anxiously; they had just come out of the arena.
"Sheen and I were together, but there were too many people, and we just got separated."
When Justin and Sheehan emerged from behind a tree, Snape gave Justin a cold look but said nothing.
Sheen noticed that Justin's face was slightly flushed; he wasn't a very good liar.
"Sheehan! Justin!"
Hermione ran out from behind Minerva, her face serious, mirroring Minerva's expression.
"You have no idea!"
She was so angry that her body was trembling.
The moment she opened her mouth, Justin and Sheehan felt inexplicably inferior.
"That's the Dark Mark! Good heavens! How dare you run around like that!"
She yelled, tears welling up in her eyes.
"We've found them, let's go together—"
At this moment, Mr. Weasley, who had breathed a sigh of relief, suddenly said something.
Snape and McGonagall nodded and disappeared from the spot, leaving Marcus leaning against the tree trunk with a look of self-reproach on his face.
"What is the Black Mark?"
Justin asked.
"That's the symbol of the mysterious man!"
Hermione replied, trembling, "I read about it in *The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts*, that's it!"
"It's been thirteen years since I last saw it."
Marcus seemed to snap out of his daze. He said softly, "People are naturally very nervous—it's like seeing Voldemort again."
"I do not understand,"
Justin appeared to be frowning, but he actually breathed a sigh of relief. He pulled Hermione's attention, "What I mean is—in the end, it's just a shadow in mid-air—"
"Finley, every time Voldemort and his followers kill someone, they display the Dark Mark in the sky."
Marcus said, "The fear it brings—you don't know, you're too young. Imagine you go home and find the Black Mark hovering above your house, you know what you'll see when you go inside—"
Marcus paused for a moment, "This is everyone's greatest fear—the most, most terrifying thing—let's go back to the farm. With Moody around, it will always be safer."
