Chapter 13 Tom, you're too weak
For the next few days, Lux studied Miranda's notes every day. Each time she opened the thick notebook, she could complete several spellcasting tasks. And the knowledge that was only learned in higher grades was recorded in detail in it. Lux almost forgot to eat and sleep. In the corner of the common room, in the corridor of the tower, and even on the shore of the Black Lake in the early morning, you could see her holding the notebook and practicing spells in a low voice.
Several professors initially mistook her for a Ravenclaw student, but upon closer inspection, they realized she was a Gryffindor. One Ravenclaw professor even gave Lacus an extra 5 points as encouragement.

……
Every new spell she hadn't mastered in her notebook was successfully converted into a steady income of gold coins. The notification sound of the increasing gold coins made Miss Lux completely ignore the old textbooks and Professor Turak's sleep-inducing classes.
Since she already had all the knowledge at her fingertips, she naturally wouldn't dwell on unpleasant things. Lux could even feel her control and understanding of magic improving rapidly.
One afternoon a month after receiving the notebook, when Lux turned to a page near the back, she strangely saw a card stuck to the notebook. The contents of this page seemed completely different from the battle spells on the front page; it was more like a... potion recipe?
"Let me see... moonstone, unicorn fur..."
This recipe has an inexplicable strangeness to it. The handwriting on the card is messy, and the ink is of varying shades, as if it has been there for a long time, which is incongruous with Miranda's neat and elegant handwriting.
Clearly, this was written by someone else a long time ago. Miranda simply included the recipe in her notebook or slipped it in. The recipe doesn't even have a name at the top; there's only a line of small, hastily written words: "Use in emergencies, but with severe side effects."
It looks like it was copied directly from the original text.
Lux isn't very good at potion-making. She can make no mistakes when brewing potions with fixed recipes, but it's very difficult for her to guess the final effect of a potion based on a recipe.
After all, Lux only had systematic exposure to magic for a year.
Just as Lux was wondering what kind of potion this was, she heard light footsteps beside her. It was Tom.
Tom has been enjoying a rare period of relaxation lately, as Lux hasn't bothered him for almost a month. In the past few months, Lux had been like a clockwork to Tom, giving him something to do every day.
Candy that turns hair green, needles that make people fly when they prick you... it's impossible to guard against them all. Some with obvious intentions were seen through by Tom, while others were clearly the product of Lux's sudden illness, and those were left to their own devices.
Please, how do I prevent a sudden onset of a mental illness?
So he was curious about what had made the madwoman Lux calm down for a month.
"Lux? What are you looking at so intently?" Tom's voice carried a hint of barely perceptible curiosity.
Lux jolted, instinctively trying to close the notebook, but she was a beat too slow. Tom had already moved closer, and his sharp eyes keenly caught the old, messy handwriting on the open pages.
"A potion recipe? It looks a bit old." Tom's gaze was glued to the list of ingredients and the words "For emergency use only, but with severe side effects."
Tom thought for a moment and realized it was indeed a formula he had never seen before, but based on the properties of the ingredients, he made some guesses: "It looks like some kind of potion that can cause magic to increase dramatically in a short period of time. If we have the ingredients, we can give it a try."
Lux's eyes lit up as she began to ponder the origins of these materials: "Poison tentacles only grow in dark, damp valleys, and there's a similar environment in the northern part of the Forbidden Forest... Moonstone... The Potions professor seems to have some in his greenhouse? But it's hard to get his hands on... Unicorns... There must be a group of them deep in the Forbidden Forest... but they're a bit hard to find..."
Tom raised an eyebrow. "You're really planning to get your hands on the materials? More than half of them are beyond the reach of first-year students. Christmas is just around the corner, do you want to get locked up? Besides, this formula is dangerous. The consequences look like it could cause permanent damage or irreversible aftereffects."
Lux countered, "Look at these materials: unicorn hair, moonstone powder, poisonous tentacle nectar... most of them could be found in the Forbidden Forest. And aren't you curious about the Forbidden Forest? When we were in the Fantastic Beasts Protection class, we only ever wandered around the outer perimeter."
"The Forbidden Forest?!" Tom immediately lowered his voice. "Are you crazy? You're going to go deep into the Forbidden Forest to find dangerous things for an old formula with unknown effects and dangerous side effects? If you get caught, you'll be put in solitary confinement. I don't want to be put in solitary confinement before Christmas."
"Why not? We've learned so many spells!" Lux waved her hand dismissively. "Besides, Orgrimmar is patrolling nearby, so we just need to be careful. If we really encounter danger, I still have Dumbledore's Summoning Charm."
"Dumbledore's Summoning Charm?" Tom wondered.
Lux nodded confidently: "As long as I shout at the top of my lungs: Help me, Mr. Dumbledore! He will come to his lovely student."
"Don't come to me with this kind of stupid thing again. And you should see the school nurse about your delusions." Tom's face turned cold again. This woman was talking nonsense again. Was Dumbledore always at your beck and call? And would he hear you if you shouted "Dumbledore" at Hogwarts?
"Tom, you're too weak. You don't even dare to go to the Forbidden Forest. You want to be a prefect, and you want to be the president of the boys' council?" Lux knew this 12-year-old boy very well; his desire for power was beginning to emerge.
"Hmph, who said I wanted to be one? I already have a Magic Mutual Aid Society," Tom retorted stubbornly.
"Please, I've contributed at least half of the spell teaching to your mutual aid society. Come with me to the Forbidden Forest to find materials first. Whether you want to become the head of Hogwarts or establish a new Hogwarts, I'll help you."
"Even if Dumbledore comes, I'll sweep two blocks before him!" Miss Lux uttered some incredibly bold words. Although Tom didn't quite understand some of the vocabulary, he understood the general meaning.
Help her find materials in the Forbidden Forest, and Lux will later help him run for prefect and student council president.
"Why do you talk like someone who's delirious? And why did you have to take me to the Forbidden Forest?" Tom complained, raising his questions.
Lux scratched her head sheepishly, "I'm bad at potions, I have no idea what these ingredients look like."
After weighing the pros and cons, Tom finally convinced himself that although Lux had mental issues, her strength and talent were undeniable, and she was also suspected of being a member of a secret pure-blood family, since the surname "Crownguard" sounded too much like a secret cult family.
If I could get her to do something, perhaps there's still hope...
Tom straightened his slightly disheveled clothes. "Okay, I can go to the Forbidden Forest with you, but you have to do some things for me in the days to come."
"Let's go!" Lux put away her notebook and ran towards the Forbidden Forest.
"Now?"
"Now!"
