Chapter 74 Conspiracy
Chapter 74 Conspiracy
In Osaka, Japan, the Yamamoto Noh Theater, an ancient wooden building, was designated a National Tangible Cultural Property in 1999. It symbolizes the highest hall of traditional Japanese stage arts and is a stage that countless actors dream of.
Unlike the usual bustling and noisy atmosphere, the hall was now dimly lit, with only a few white paper lanterns hanging under the Shinto-style roof above the stage, illuminating the dust floating in the air.
Inside the square stage built of natural cypress trees, a female doll dressed in a scarlet wide-sleeved kimono is dancing gracefully. The spider lilies on the back of the kimono seem to come alive with the doll's movements, appearing like flowing blood in the dim light, creating a terrifying yet beautiful contrast with her pure white skin.
Without a doubt, this is the most top-tier female impersonator. He understands women's beauty better than women themselves, exuding charm with every gesture and every smile.
But the only audience member at this moment was clearly not among them.
This was a hunched figure shrouded in a black cloak, wearing a pale and terrifying noble mask, with bright red lips and black teeth, and the mask bearing an eerie smile.
The king sat in his chair, clapping softly. A hoarse laugh came from behind his mask, sounding particularly eerie in the dimly lit room.
Ruri Kazama stopped dancing, and her kimono slowly fell down.
The flickering candlelight cast a long, thin shadow of the man, which twisted and distorted, like a ghost from another world dancing gracefully.
Kazama Ruri sat on the stage, gazing at the only audience member. He knew that the person clapping was not appreciating his dance; the eyes behind that mask probably held only ugly greed.
But today was different. He sensed a suppressed displeasure emanating from this person, as if something big was brewing. "Did you plan the biker gang attacks in Tokyo?" Wang asked, his voice calm beneath the mask, making it impossible to guess his emotions.
Kazama Ruri picked up a cup of sake from a small table and poured herself a cup before answering the king's question.
"It's me." Kazama Ruri downed the sake in her cup in one gulp, looking at the King with a half-smile, curious about how this person would react.
"What is the purpose?" Wang asked in a calm tone.
"Of course, it's to kill him," Kazama Ruri said nonchalantly. "You asked me to investigate the leak of the evolution drug samples, and I've already done that. I've already executed the source of the leak. Even if the main family follows the trail, they'll ultimately come up empty-handed. What are you worried about?"
"Have you thought about the consequences?" Wang Jiang's voice remained calm, but beneath the calm it seemed as if a torrent of water was about to surge forth. "If the headquarters' specialists die at the hands of the Demon Clan, it would be tantamount to slapping the main family in the face. This would not only provoke a frenzied purge from the main family, but could even trigger a full-scale war between the Japanese branch and Kassel College."
Kazama Ruri chuckled, her narrow eyes glancing contemptuously at the king's eyes: "You're just afraid."
"No matter how you try to justify it, we are ultimately the devils lurking in the shadows," the king said slowly. "Your self-righteous actions have angered the main family. They are now purging the entire Shinjuku and even Tokyo! Our years of hard work may be destroyed because of you."
Kazama Ruri held her wine glass and murmured softly, "So what? I was only after revenge."
"Young lady, you are still too reckless—" the king sighed and said earnestly, taking out a pair of wooden clappers from his bosom.
Kazama Ruri's pupils constricted, and he reached out to stop the king's actions, but he was a step too slow.
"Mu Pu——Pu——"
The king tapped the wooden stick in his hand lightly, producing a monotonous and strange sound.
Kazama Ruri seemed to have her spine ripped out in an instant, collapsing limply onto the stage and rolling around in agony.
His handsome face was sometimes as ferocious as a demon, sometimes as bewildered as a child, and occasionally revealed the extreme fear of witnessing hell.
He struggled to crawl away from the sound of the clapper, but to no avail. His arms flared weakly, like a bird with broken wings.
The king maintained his elegant posture and continued to play that strange music on the clapper, the flickering candlelight making the mask appear even paler.
To outsiders, it seemed that Wang had done nothing but played some kind of unpleasant and monotonous music, while Kazama Ruri seemed to have lost control like a mental patient.
The music stopped.
Kazama Ruri collapsed on the stage, exhausted even to lift a finger, like a withered flower ravaged by a storm.
He struggled to lift his eyes and look at the king, his pupils a mixture of pale gold and blood red, like spilled paint.
Kazama Ruri's lips trembled slightly, as if she wanted to utter words like "save me" or "please," but no sound came out. The peerless Kabuki master and the stunningly beautiful female impersonator was now like a stranded, dying turtle, utterly pathetic.
He thought he was an invincible demon, confident that he controlled everything.
But amidst the sound of the clapper, he seemed to transform back into the helpless and timid boy he had been years ago.
Wang Jiang slowly walked onto the stage, squatted down, and gently stroked Kazama Ruri's sweat-dampened cheek, his tone as gentle as that of a caring elder:
"The specialists from headquarters are on their way to Mitaka City. I'll tell you what to do later."
"Don't disappoint me this time. Understand, little girl?"
,.
Kazama Ruri shook her head violently, trying to shake this unbearable memory out of her mind.
In his memory, he had rebelled in this way countless times, but without exception, it all ended in failure.
But he was also conflicted. On the one hand, he wanted to be this man's pawn, but on the other hand, he didn't want to leave the Fierce Ghosts. He still had unfinished business, and the Fierce Ghosts were the only platform to help him achieve it.
But what was Wang Jiang's purpose in ordering him to eliminate the Asahi Group? If it was simply to intimidate certain people within the Oni Clan, why wait until the headquarters' commissioner arrived in Mitaka City to do these things?
What exactly is the king planning to do, and where did he get this information from?
He never truly guessed what the king was thinking. This man was as fierce and ruthless as a hyena, yet as cunning as a fox, hiding in three burrows to avoid trouble.
A jumble of thoughts surged through his mind like a tangled mess. He had thought killing the headquarters specialist would be a piece of cake, but he hadn't expected the opponent's strength and the king's reaction to far exceed his expectations.
With a soft sigh, Kazama Ruri decided she didn't want to think about it anymore.
It is now late autumn, and maple leaves are slowly falling from the trees. Ruri Kazama, carrying a long sword, walks towards the Asahi Group.
"Hey little girl, this isn't a place to buy clothes, get out of here."
The Asahi Group members standing at the company entrance shouted as they saw the beautiful Kazama Ruri walking towards them.
This remark drew laughter from the people around her, and many whistled at Kazama Ruri, spewing profanities.
Kazama Ruri remained expressionless as she continued walking towards the company entrance.
He doesn't have the habit of getting angry with the dead.
Seeing that the other party not only ignored him but also walked straight towards the door, the henchman became dissatisfied and reached out to grab Kazama Ruri's collar.
However, just as his arm was halfway out, a curved line of blood suddenly appeared on his wrist!
The cuff of the suit jacket quietly tore open, and as blood gushed out, the hand fell to the ground.
Almost simultaneously, the same arc-shaped lines of blood appeared on the necks of all the guards at the entrance.
Ruri Kazama sheathed her sword, the hilt striking the scabbard with a clear, melodious metallic clang.
As the sound of the blade being sheathed rang out, several heads flew into the air, and blood splattered down like a torrential rain.
Spots of crimson splattered on Ruri Kazama's beautiful cheeks, adding a touch of eerie and bewitching beauty.
He stepped over the blood and corpses scattered on the ground, walked up, and politely rang the doorbell.
