Chapter 180 The Dean's Visit
Chapter 180 The Dean's Visit (Only 5 chapters)
Hearing that someone else was coming, Qin Jin nodded slightly to Alessa, who immediately grabbed the doll and went out the door. Yuanxiao had just followed when, bang!
Alessa slammed the door shut, nearly hitting Yuanxiao on the nose, causing him to fall flat on his backside.
Yuanxiao immediately ran to Qin Jin's side, chattering away, and began to climb up his thighs, burying her head in his chest and wailing loudly.
"Alessa's out doing important business, and you can't help her anyway, so why are you going to join in the fun?" Qin Jin pinched Yuanxiao's ear, not giving her a friendly look: "This is to protect you, understand? Later, when you're older and can help, you'll have plenty of opportunities to go!"
Yuanxiao's crying stopped immediately, but she still didn't lift her head, continuing to bury herself in Qin Jin's arms.
A few minutes later, the wooden door opened, and Aresa walked in first, followed by a dirty figure—
It was Sophie, panting heavily, her clothes riddled with countless tears from the bushes. Although she looked disheveled and wretched, her eyes were unusually bright.
"Officer Qin!"
Upon seeing Qin Jin, Sophie's face immediately lit up with ecstatic joy and the excitement of finding her pillar of support: "You really were here!"
She hurried up, her grammar completely off: "I always thought she was just saying it casually—but I never expected—great! What do we do now?"
Before Qin Jin could speak, George, as if he had found an ally, immediately interrupted, "Sophie! We just got the cell phone signal back! We can call the police now! But—Officer Qin said we can't—he, he said he's going to kill those hunters!"
His tone clearly conveyed both disapproval and a desire for support.

However, Sophie's reaction was completely unexpected.
Without almost any hesitation, she immediately and firmly stated her position: "Officer Qin is right! We cannot call the police!"
Sophie's gaze was firm, her speech rapid, and finally, her words began to flow coherently: "When I was looking for Leah yesterday, I sensed something was very wrong with this town! The locals looked at us strangely, with a peculiar—coldness. I suspect they've taken control of this town! If we call the police, they'll know immediately!"
She took a deep breath and looked at Qin Jin: "Officer Qin, I'll listen to you! I'll do whatever you say, I trust you!"
Sophie's resolute attitude and clear analysis left George speechless.
He opened his mouth, looked at the two men with their clear stances, a hint of embarrassment and awkwardness flashing across his face, and finally lowered his head sheepishly, whispering, "I—I didn't say I wouldn't listen to Officer Qin—I just felt—well, okay, Officer Qin, we'll all do as you say."
Qin Jin gave Su Fei an approving look; the girl's willpower and judgment in the face of adversity were indeed far beyond that of ordinary people.
He pondered for a moment, then said, "Now, with Sophie included, our combined score is 60. They will definitely catch up, without a doubt."
He looked out the window; it was already broad daylight.
"However, it's hard to say when they'll arrive. The entire hunting season lasts seven days, so they won't catch up so quickly. I estimate it will be tomorrow or the day after. You two stayed up all night, so I'll try to get you some food. After you eat, you can rest, and I'll think about what to do."
Sophie was indeed exhausted. If she hadn't been so hungry, she would have collapsed into the small hut next door.
Qin Jin walked to the wooden door that connected to the interior of the monastery, and gently pushed it open a crack. He saw a nun carrying something passing by in the corridor. Half of her body was gone, and she was holding a Bible in one hand.
"Excuse me, Sister," Qin Jin called out in a low voice, "Could you please ask Sister Mary to come over here?"
"Oh, okay, please wait a moment, fellow believer." The nun nodded politely and even gave a smile.
After the nun left, Qin Jin immediately beckoned Alessa into the convent and instructed her, "Try not to take any action. If you are discovered—speak nicely to them and say that you went to pray to the Virgin Mary. They will still consider you a living nun and won't make things difficult for you."
Aresa's porcelain-white face remained expressionless; she simply nodded slightly and slipped silently through the crack in the door, attracting no attention.
After a while, Sister Mary came over, her face still bearing that strange, mixed expression of kindness: "Fellow believer, you wanted to see me?"
Qin Jin didn't fully open the door, but instead blocked most of it with his body, just enough for Sister Mary to see what appeared to be two more figures inside, but she couldn't make out their specific appearance or condition.
He still remembered Sister Rachel's situation; to avoid trouble, he tried to keep her from seeing anyone.
"Yes, Sister. I'm so sorry to bother you again."
Qin Jin's tone carried just the right amount of apology and relief: "My two other lost companions have also found their way here. They're exhausted and hungry. Could you perhaps give us some more food and water?"
Sister Mary nodded gently: "The Lord will protect the lost sheep. Please wait a moment, I'll go to the kitchen to get it."
Qin Jin stood guard at the door. A few minutes later, Sister Mary returned with a plate of black bread and a pot of water. Qin Jin took the plate from her, cleverly keeping Sister Mary's view out of the door.
Just then, Sister Mary suddenly said, "Fellow believer, our rector heard you're here and would like to ask you about things outside. If possible, she'll come to visit you this afternoon—could you stay a little longer?"
"No problem!" Qin Jin readily agreed.
"May the Lord be with you." Sister Mary made the sign of the cross and turned to leave.
Qin Jin shared the food with Sophie and George, who devoured it and then each found a room and quickly fell into a deep sleep.
While eating, Qin Jin briefly recounted what happened with Sister Rachel that morning. Qin Jin described this place as a cursed land, where the nuns were all "kind" monsters who wandered here as corpses. He didn't mention the reasons at all; believe it or not, it's good enough that he told you.
Sophie and George certainly didn't believe it, but seeing Qin Jin's indifferent attitude, they didn't dare to leave on their own, so they could only grit their teeth and accept whatever came their way.
For the rest of the time, Qin Jin sat quietly on the chair outside. Only then did he notice the message on his tactical tablet: "Asylum! Asylum! Do not enter that castle, it's dangerous!"
"The new equipment for the mental hospital has been delivered. The drone cannot enter the area around the cross, so it has been placed on a tree branch by the main road outside. Pick it up immediately."
"Live streaming is not possible inside the monastery!"
"A mental hospital! Please answer!"
Qin Jin quickly went out of the cabin to retrieve the tactical tablet. He looked at it and saw that a live stream invitation would be sent every few minutes, but Qin Jin hadn't figured out what to do, so he put it aside for the time being.
However, upon seeing the words "live broadcast," Qin Jin seemed to have a particular idea—
At noon, Alessa returned from the monastery.
She walked up to Qin Jin, her gray-blue pupils as calm as ever, but her tone was very firm: "Qin, no."
She tilted her head slightly, as if organizing her thoughts: "Inside, it's very large. The aura of demons is very strong, but I didn't find the secret chamber or the blood."
Qin Jin frowned slightly.
He had originally envisioned three paths: the first was to rely on Alessa's direct perception to find it, but now it seemed impossible. Alessa's perception was much more acute than his own, and if Alessa couldn't find it, he had even less of a chance.
That leaves only the last two options: obtain information from key figures in the monastery, such as the abbot; or wait for Selena to arrive and see if Marcus knows anything.
Fortunately, the dean will come by himself in the afternoon, which saves a lot of trouble.
It was soon afternoon when there was a knock on the wooden door. Mary appeared again, making the sign of the cross to Qin Jin: "Fellow believer, the Dean is here to visit you. Do you have time?"
"No problem." Qin Jin nodded.
Mary turned and left, her footsteps fading into the distance in the stone corridor.
Qin Jin immediately turned around and told Alessa to wake up George and Sophie and tell them to stay in the room and not come out.
Although they didn't understand what was going on, seeing Qin Jin's solemn expression, they nervously retreated back into the room and closed the door.
Not long after, slow and slightly heavy footsteps came from outside the door, followed by a soft knocking.
The wooden door was pushed open.
An elderly nun, dressed in a black nun's robe and with her head wrapped in a veil, stood there. Her posture was solemn, even carrying an air of authority that came from long-held power.
However, what Qin Jin saw was a completely different and horrifying scene!
The other nuns had a pale, dying appearance, as if they were unaware that they were dead. But the Superintendent was completely enveloped by an incredibly thick black aura, which even formed parts of her body.
This black aura was filled with malice and decay, as if it came from the deepest part of the abyss.
She tried to maintain the appearance of a living person, but in Qin Jin's eyes, there was only a withered corpse under the black robe, with skin clinging to the bones, showing a dull color like aged leather, sunken eye sockets, and even the unique stench of a corpse constantly emanating from it.
This is not a spirit lingering in the human world at all, but a demon or evil spirit that is using the body of a dead person to move around!
The headmistress raised her face, which was shrouded in black mist, and a kind voice rang out: "Fellow believer, welcome—"
