Chapter 188 In the Monastery
Chapter 188 In the Monastery
Qin Jin focused his attention on sensing, and his expression changed slightly.
Sure enough, the atmosphere throughout the monastery underwent a violent shift; the previous stillness and peace had transformed into a frenzied and eerie one.
It was as if the eeriness within the monastery had been stirred up by something, and had come to a complete boil.
Thinking of the dean's bizarre and strange infinite resurrection, Qin Jin was also a little unsure, but he couldn't wait any longer and had to enter; any later and it would really be too late.
Qin Jin turned to Sophie and George and instructed them, "I'm going into the monastery now, but the Tarot Squad and the Black Mamba Brothers will be here soon. You either need to find a corner to hide in and pray you're not discovered, or you need to head northeast quickly; there's a good chance you can escape. The choice is yours."
He even pointed to the closed wooden door, making a deliberate gesture.
Sophie seemed determined to continue following, but Qin Jin's next words interrupted her: "The danger inside is far beyond your imagination. If you follow me, you will surely die."
George was already terrified, and upon hearing this, he immediately grabbed Sophie's arm tightly: "Let's go! Let's go! Sophie, please!"
The instinct for survival ultimately prevailed. Sophie gritted her teeth, and dragged by George, she rushed into the dark forest on the other side of the cabin without looking back.
At this moment, the two zombies returned and stood silently outside the door. Qin Jin also walked out of the wooden house, watched the two leave, and was about to go back in when he saw Alessa and the doctor alone in the small wooden house. Qin Jin called out, "Alessa!" and waved to her.
Alessa obediently walked out, and Qin Jin squatted down in front of her, as if he wanted to say something, but he didn't make a sound. Then, a loud bang was heard from inside!
Looking up, I saw the wooden door swaying; the doctor was gone, only the faint echo of his departing footsteps remained.
Clearly, upon hearing that Black Mamba and the Tarot team were about to arrive, this guy's mind started racing, and he wanted to escape from Qin Jin. Little did he know, what lay inside was even more terrifying than Qin Jin!
Qin Jin stopped mid-sentence, slowly stood up, looked in the direction the doctor had disappeared, and revealed a meaningful smile.
"You're being too clever for your own good," he said softly.
Alessa tilted her head, expressing her thoughts in her distinctive tone: "What if he didn't run away?"
Without a second thought, Qin Jin replied, "If he doesn't run, I'll just kill him. I can't bring him in and cause trouble for myself—" He paused, his smile deepening, "But it'll be more interesting to let him go in on his own. It'll save me the trouble and allow me to scout ahead."
They waited patiently at the door for about two minutes, estimating that the doctor should have finished his work, before Qin Jin gestured, "Let's go."
Alessa skillfully picked up Yuanxiao from the ground and stuffed her into the pocket behind the Frankenstein doll. Although Yuanxiao was several sizes bigger than before, the doll still easily contained the nearly 40-kilogram giant bear cub, with only its head sticking out.
Qin Jin, accompanied by Alessa and the two silent zombies, stepped into the monastery.
The interior was not dilapidated; it was just as clean and tidy. However, the air was thick with the stench of blood, and the blood aura released by Marcus was particularly strong in the enclosed space.
They hadn't walked far along the stone corridor when, just as they reached the front courtyard of the monastery, a fascinating scene came into view.
On one side of the passageway ahead, where candlesticks or decorations might have been placed, an indescribable fleshy tree is now growing.
This thing is over two meters tall. Its main body is a pink, dry object made of flesh and blood that is constantly wriggling slightly. Its surface is covered with slippery mucus and skin tissue riddled with holes.
In the middle of this disgusting tree trunk, a person was stuck horizontally!
It was the doctor who had just fled in in a panic!
His body was trapped inside the fleshy tree trunk, as if it were growing inside, wrapped in strange fleshy tissue and being continuously digested. The sticky areas on the doctor's face had corroded away the surface skin, revealing the bright red muscles and forehead bone underneath. His eyes bulged out of extreme pain, his mouth was wide open, but he could not make any sound, only a very faint "hoarse" sound came from his throat. His whole body was being slowly and continuously digested and absorbed!
At the top of this tree of flesh and blood, however, is the upper body of a normal human being, the butler Helen. Not only is her appearance unchanged, but even the hilt of the knife stuck in her chest is still there.
But her hands had turned into a clump of wriggling tentacles, not just one, but a whole clump!
It's like having countless octopuses in each hand, the tentacles waving wildly, hunting down any life that passes by.
Deacon Helen saw Qin Jin and his group, and her expression was surprisingly normal, as if she had been angered by men who had barged into the convent: "Fellow believer! How dare you come in? This is a women's convent; men are not allowed inside. Please leave immediately!"
Qin Jin had encountered similar situations one after another, and had long guessed what was going on:
These mutated nuns seem to be completely harmless to undead life forms, such as zombies like Qin Jin, or liches, necromancers, undead knights, basically anything that is dead. As long as your actions conform to their understanding, you will gain their approval and permission, and they will treat you as one of their own and communicate with you normally.
Qin Jin's face showed anxiety and sincerity, his tone filled with worry: "Helen, I've received urgent news. A large group of demons are rushing in from outside, trying to enter the monastery. I need to report to the Abbess immediately! At the same time, I also want to do my part for the monastery, to fight against evil together with you, and to uphold the glory of the Lord. The nuns alone cannot deal with them!"
Sure enough, the hint of reproach on Deacon Helen's face vanished instantly, replaced by an extremely serious and normal expression. She thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "You're right! We need your help. Our monastery can't handle so many demons—the demons have already broken in, and the Abbot and the other two deacons are working hard to exorcise them. You must go quickly!"
"Where is it?" Qin Jin immediately asked.
"It should be up there, near the clock tower—" Deacon Helen's voice seemed somewhat broken due to her digestive activity: "May the Lord bless you—go quickly—"
"good!"
Qin Jin nodded, immediately bypassed the terrifying fleshy tree, and continued deeper, where the doctor's entire skull was already exposed.
They moved quickly down the corridor, occasionally hearing roars and crashes coming from above, clearly indicating a fierce battle was taking place, with a group of dead monsters performing an exorcism on a living vampire.
Soon, they came to a fork in the road, where a heavy wooden door blocked their way.
And guarding this door was another familiar, alienated person: Sister Mary!
Her lower body had transformed into a worm-like body over three meters long, plump and large, with countless short, pale limbs growing densely below, supporting its massive form.
Her upper body stood upright from the front of the insect's body like a centaur, still maintaining a human form, but her face and body were deathly pale, and her mouth had turned into mouthparts like those of a demonic insect.
Upon seeing Qin Jin and his group, she immediately hissed nervously, "Fellow believer! How did you get in? This isn't—"
Qin Jin didn't give her a chance to finish, interrupting her with an even more urgent tone: "Sister Mary! Deacon Helen let us in! The demon is too powerful; the Dean and the deacon need help!"
He subtly conveyed his worry and anxiety: "You guys alone might not be able to handle this!"
Guided by his emotions and Deacon Helen's commands, Sister Mary's insect-like body twitched uneasily: "Yes—yes—you are right, the demon is powerful—"
Qin Jin pressed his advantage, immediately revealing the next step of the plan: "Helen said that somewhere in the basement, there's a weapon to fight demons—I need you to take me there, Mary, it's all up to you now!"
"Weapons? What weapons?" Sister Mary asked in confusion, her thinking seemingly much simpler.
"I don't know either. Deacon Helen said it was near the underground storage room," Qin Jin spread his hands. "I'm not familiar with this place, Sister Mary. It's too difficult to find."
This specific detail seemed to convince Sister Mary, who immediately said, "Alright! I'll take you there! Follow me!"
