American Zombie Detective

Chapter 65 The Zombies Go Too Far

"Something's happened!"

Qin Jin and Alessa hurried along the mountain road shrouded in night. The magnificent California coastline, visible during the day, was completely obscured by the deep darkness, with only the sparse lights of the town like lonely stars on the sea.

Gunshots rang out intermittently, striking the ears of the two men.

The closer they got to the town, the clearer the gunshots became, mixed with screams of women and children, curses of men, and dull thuds of impact, and finally…

A chilling, inhuman roar!

When they stormed into the town, the scene on the street confirmed Qin Jin's premonition: the streets were covered in blood and corpses lying on the ground, some family doors were wide open, and the gunshots were mainly concentrated on the street not far ahead.

Qin Jin and Alessa immediately rushed towards the sound of gunfire and screams. Turning a street corner, they witnessed a horrifying scene—

In front of a two-story house, a stiff figure stretched out his arm and hopped around, chasing after a woman fleeing down the street. Meanwhile, on the building next door, two men leaned out and were firing a shotgun and a pistol at the woman.

Zombies! The most basic white zombies!

"Bang! Bang!"

The bullets hit the zombie, splattering blood, but only slowed its movements slightly; they didn't significantly affect its pursuit speed.

"Qin! It's Detective Qin! Help!"

A sharp-eyed man upstairs spotted Qin Jin and Alessa rushing over and immediately started shouting at the top of his lungs, as if grasping at a lifeline.

Qin Jin recognized him; he was one of the people who had gone up the mountain with Uncle Karl during the day!

"Cease fire!"

Qin Jin shouted and he and Alessa rushed forward quickly.

The zombie seemed to sense a stronger threat and abruptly turned its head. When its bluish-black face, covered in lividity and with exposed fangs, was exposed to the light and moonlight streaming through the window of the house, Qin Jin immediately recognized it—

This is none other than Tong Shouyi, the eldest son of the Tong family!

The daytime prediction clearly came true; the corpse poison carried by the zombie bear completely turned him into a zombie.

But... why is he on the street? Did something happen at the police station?

"roar!"

The zombie Tong Shouyi abandoned its pursuit of the woman and turned to pounce on Qin Jin.

Qin Jin didn't even draw his sword. He dodged the stiff but powerful attack by sidestepping it, and his right hand shot out like lightning, precisely grabbing the zombie's neck!

A powerful force erupted instantly, and with a crisp crack, the zombie's cervical spine was crushed!

The fierce light in its eyes vanished instantly, and its entire body, like a snake with its bones removed, collapsed limply to the ground.

Aresa stood to the side, holding the Frankenstein's monster doll in her arms, showing no intention of making a move. She was very confident in Qin Jin's martial arts skills.

The hunters upstairs stared in disbelief at the battle that ended in the blink of an eye, then erupted in cheers of relief at surviving the ordeal.

"Get down!" Qin Jin said in a deep voice.

The hunter and other residents ran downstairs in shock, their faces turning ashen as they looked at the still slightly twitching corpse on the ground.

"What happened? When did they appear? What about the police station?"

Qin Jin asked quickly.

"I don't know, Detective Qin!" the hunter gasped for breath. "We were sleeping soundly when we were suddenly awakened by gunshots and screams! We looked out the window and saw this thing wandering the street, attacking anyone it saw! The commotion at the police station... it seemed even bigger at the police station! We didn't dare go over to check!"

Qin Jin's heart sank. Something had happened to the Tong family!

The police station is where they are detained; the commotion there is the biggest, which means the biggest trouble is also there!

"Listen!" Qin Jin pointed to the zombie corpse on the ground:

"Look at this thing, understand? Guard it! No need to deal with it for now! Anyone who gets close, especially if they freeze or become a monster, shoot them in the head—I'll say it again, you have to get a headshot to kill it!"

"Understood! Understood!" The hunter and the others nodded quickly, Qin Jin being their pillar of support at this moment.

Without further delay, Qin Jin, along with Alessa, sped towards the police station in the town center like two swift winds.

The closer they got to the police station, the stronger the stench of blood and gunpowder became, and the more bloodstains appeared, with several more bodies found.

Just as he approached the police station, Qin Jin keenly heard the smell of blood coming from a nearby building!

Qin Jin immediately kicked open the door and went inside. In the shadows of the room, Sheriff Harvey leaned against the cold brick wall, his uniform soaked with a dark stain on the chest, and the smell of blood was coming from him.

Upon seeing that it was Qin Jin, Sheriff Harvey's raised arm fell limply to the ground, and the gun in his hand also fell to the ground.

"Harvey!" Qin Jin immediately squatted down, tearing open his police uniform to check: "What happened?"

"Yes, it's that bastard Henry!" Sheriff Harvey said with difficulty.

"That bastard believed it... the Tong family brat's huge sum of money... the promise of a huge sum of money... secretly releasing people in the middle of the night... and as a result... and as a result, three of them... all turned into monsters... and that bastard even shot me..."

He coughed violently a few times, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, but then inexplicably laughed:

"That idiot Henry... he got bitten... I'm dying of laughter... he... died in the police station... hahaha... that kid from the Tong family... Tong Jiye and a henchman... escaped... the other monsters are in town... people are starting to kill each other in town..."

Qin Jin quickly examined Sheriff Harvey's wound. It was indeed a gunshot wound, not a bite. Although the location was dangerous, it was not fatal for the time being, but the excessive blood loss was very dangerous.

Hang in there!

Qin Jin carried Sheriff Harvey on his back and walked outside with Alessa, saying, "I'm taking you to the hospital, please don't die!"

Sheriff Harvey was Qin Jin's witness in the town of St. Simon, and also the law enforcer of the town. No matter what, as long as he could come out alive to testify and authorize Qin Jin to enforce the law, there would be no problem. But if he died, not to mention anything else, the messy investigations and reports alone would be a real pain.

Qin Jin carried Sheriff Harvey on his back and ran quickly toward the community hospital. When they arrived, the hospital gates were locked, and other people involved in the manhunt were gathered there.

Upon seeing Qin Jin arrive with Sheriff Harvey, they immediately opened the door and began to rescue the sheriff.

At the same time, because of Qin Jin's appearance, everyone instantly had a backbone and began to hunt zombies under his leadership!

Gunshots, screams, and the howls of zombies echoed through the streets of Saint Simon. Qin Jin and Alessa, like two sharp knives, led the group swiftly toward the source of the chaos in the town where panic was spreading!

Soon, Tong Shouxin, who had turned into a zombie, and the gunman were found. When they were found, three more families had perished, and their bodies had all been drained of blood!

These two zombies were no match for Qin Jin and Alessa, and were quickly wiped out!

At this moment, more and more people gathered in front of Qin Jin. Not only were there people who had participated in the search in the afternoon, but also some people who dared not stay at home came to the street.

"Uncle Karl!" He was the only person Qin Jin knew here, so he could only make arrangements with him.

"Divide the people here into three groups, and according to the community, go door-to-door to search. Drag out all the people who were bitten to death and burn them in the square. You're in charge of this!"

"Also, if any living people are injured, bring them here, and I'll try to treat them! Tell them that the corpse poison of these monsters is very weak, and they can all be saved. Don't hide them!"

"clear!"

With Qin Jin and Alessa in charge, the townspeople's courage quickly returned. Under Uncle Karl's organization, they split into several teams and began clearing the streets, burning monster corpses, and searching for survivors and possible infected.

The others found suitable vehicles to transport the victims' bodies to the square, gathered firewood from various places, lit a large bonfire, and placed the bodies on it to be burned.

Tong Shouyi's body was also moved over, but Qin Jin cut off his and Tong Shouxin's heads, put them in a bag, and handed them to Alessa to carry. This was to be given to the paper bride as a token of their mission.

Amidst the chaos and hustle and bustle, a black Ford Explorer SUV, like a startled wild beast, suddenly burst out of an alley and sped recklessly toward California Highway 1 outside the town!

In the driver's seat, Tong Jiye's young face, twisted with extreme fear and madness, flashed by!

"Trying to run?" Qin Jin's eyes flashed sharply.

Almost the instant the thought arose in his mind, Alessa had already moved.

Her small figure took two steps forward like a ghost, steadily raising the Super Red Eagle in her hand and pulling the trigger!

"Bang! Bang!"

Two deafening gunshots rang out almost in a single line!

The left front and left rear tires of the speeding SUV burst instantly!

The high-speed vehicle suddenly lost control, and amidst the screeching of tires and the twisting of metal, it rolled violently to the left like a heavy tin can, leaving a trail of sparks on the community road before crashing over, with thick white smoke billowing from the hood!
